  • The Convent of Christ is part of a set of monuments that also includes the Castle Templar with medieval origin was built on a site that was originally used for Roman worship. This monument served the Knights of the Temple before left for the Crusades. Later, with the extinction of the Templar order, it was the seat of the Knights of Christ who would support the Portuguese discoveries.
    With more than seven centuries of history expressed in its architectural ensemble, art styles are so varied, ranging from Romanesque, Gothic, Manueline and Renaissance.
    Heritage of Humanity since 1983, it is a place full of history and symbols that have marked the western culture and deserves to be visited.
