I really enjoyed this reaction! In psychosis, my son thought he was Jesus and he had a mission to save the world. It took years of in and out psych wards then in a long term facility to bring him back to reality. Then gov decided to close the facility where he got better. Why? $$$$$$$$
@@laurelhager8495 I'm a afraid that the long term treatment, that part of the people with mental illness need, is something that the people that are in control and decide where the money goes, do not like. It's because of this Excel thinking. It's looks better on paper to let everybody go through short treatment, it's looks more efficient. You just don't look up how they are doing after treatment or that the same people keep turning up again and again into treatments that really don't help them. So in the end it's not saving money, not giving people the treatment that they need, even if it's a long treatment. It's more expensive not helping people to be able to take active part in the society and constantly going into treatments that not fit their illness. There is a lot of box-thinking in the mental health system. You, as a patient, have to fit into a box, a treatment-box, that exists, but really it should be the other way around. The health care system should listen to the patient and help him according to his illness and situation. Have many different therapy options and recognize that each patient's path through these treatments' possibilities are different.
Don't worry about how much you pause... do your own thing. One of Ren's most important skills is in eliciting emotional responses in people, and it is those that us Renegades come her to see (seeing our own initial reactions reflected in someone else's). So just keep doing what you are doing. I, for one, am enjoying it immensely.
Another great reaction! You got the video-to-commentary ratio exactly right: 82% Ren video/18% commentary. Just kidding. 😂 I was diagnosed with depression a few times, but always opted out of taking medication (pills just never sat well with me). Instead I saw a hypnotherapist for a while (which definitely helped). And then I used self-therapy, cathartic journal writing, my own version of "cognitive therapy," including changing my habits, diet, lifestyle--just a whole bunch of things that all helped. Anyway, too much about me and more about Ren: There are many reaction directions you can go now, depending on your state of mind. For storytelling Ren, there's The Tale of Jenny and Screech (Full Version, three tales in one video). For Ren busking with his band, The Big Push, there's I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip-Hop mashup. For rap rap, there's The Hunger, Seven Sins, Wicked Ways (among many others). For uplifting or fun Ren, there's Humble, Losing It, Power, What You Want. And to see the International Music Video Awards Best Video and Best Director winner for 2023, there's the incredible Monay Game 3! 🤠
@@annatraustadottir4387 True! That's why I said uplifting or fun, because they're not quite the same thing. For me, Humble and Power are uplifting despite the dark lyrics, and Losing It, What You Want and the Love Music series are fun. I probably should have split them up better.
A great one to react to would be Blind Eyed with Sam Tompkins. The one labeled angry car park attendant is my favorite, though the one at Crown is great too. For a different side of Ren, his song Uninvited is yet another new style. The different facets of his talent never cease to amaze. Have fun! 😁💜
I much prefer when a reactor has something to say about the videos, so don’t fear stopping it to talk. There are some who have little more to comment, other than ‘I like this” and Some who let the whole thing play out before they comment. The thing is, we often have seen them all (can you guess? 😏) and like when someone shares their opinion on this. That’s the point of reactions, I think. Try to catch Ren singing next. Several people here have great suggestions. He has some terrific collaborations and his band work with the Big Push.
The best description for the room setting is that it's metaphorical for being inside his mind. It makes sense to me, but that's the beauty of Ren's lyrics; they're full of layered meaning and interpretations.
You are right in your guess about treating symptoms instead of identifying cause. That was 10 years of rens life gone and it causing irreparable damage to him along the way. If you want to do another deep one then Crutch with ren and bibi was made at the time he was in a pretty bad way, had lost a lot of weight, think he had had a mental breakdown, and was really struggling. Or if you ever want to do a more light track then there is Love Music parts 1 to 4 which are all good fun. A great reaction once again!
“How can you sit there with that smile on and tell me that I’m sick”. This line reminds me of a line from The OA (tv show, Netflix): “it’s hardly a measure of mental health to be considered well adjusted in a society that’s so sick”. True!!!As Ren says - I’m not sick, WE are sick….
Some background about him mentioning the record industry in this song: Ren had a record contract with Sony for his duo "Trick The Fox" when he was still a teenager. Soon after that the misdiagnosed Lyme disease kept him bed ridden and the contract was eventually cancelled. In hindsight this was probably to Ren's advantage, since he got a UK #1 album with his second album "Sick Boi", renrolling Rick Astley!
The response of the Renegades is always awesome, cause Ren deserves it. You might wanna have a similar experience with the "Nightwish Army"?! We are as enthusiastic with Nightwish, a symphonic metal band from Finland and will welcome you with pleasure.Their current singer (since 2012) is Floor Jansen from the Netherlands, who is called "The Valkyrie Queen". THE way to enter the Nightwish rabbit hole is "Ghost Love Score" from Wacken 2013. Greetz from a German Dutch concert photographer
Happy to be back watching your second Ren reaction and decided to subscribe. Your appreciation for his music means you are in for a very enjoyable ride down the rabbit hole. Tales of Jenny and Screech ( full 13 minute version) next please. I can’t wait to watch your take on Ren’s most masterful bardcore performance. Thank you!

Renegades- if you build it, we will come😅 But yes really liked your Hi Ren video, didn't get a chance to comment as had visitors arrive but did like your video! Happy to see you're doing more Ren, and now to watch❤
He's right (as usual) - we're not sick, we're just having trouble fitting into an inhumane social construct that simply doesn't chime with our instincts as to what society should be. It doesn't matter how hard they hammer, you can't fit round pegs into square holes without causing damage.
Subbed, love your perspective from the field you have a degree in. You are intelligent and nicely articulated in your explanations. You have good information to speak about so take as long as you want. Funny my daughter has a masters in psychology and works as a graphics designer. I was a bit pissed because I basically paid for that degree that she doesn't have a job in. Anyways I am along for the ride.
Ren is trying to wake up the world and he's getting people to open their eyes.. I think this is his time to shine.. We can all learn to make this crazy place better and Ren does make you stop and think.. He's a treasure that needs protecting he is definitely one of a kind 😁 and you do you when reacting.. the honest and Real you are the better ❤👍✌️
I was like you. I thought that Ren was just some mainstream rapper that a lot of people just found out about and he got famous somehow. Oh boy. Was I wrong. I listened to "Hi Ren" and I was blown away. I didn't expect the depth, the community, the themes that were brought up and the genre changes that kept me on my feet. I'm definitely one of the RENegades now and I love new people coming in to witness this genius madness that is Ren. Welcome to the music and art. Because if I need to define Ren - He is music.
re: Ren's nylon string guitar (from tje perspective of a classically-trained pianist/orchestral French horn player/madrigal singer... all amateur, just to be clear) - A nylon string guitar is a very expressive instrument, BUT to get a "beautiful tone" from it in an AGGRESSIVE way takes FORMAL lessons & hundreds and thousands of focused practice of the techniques you learn in those lessons. Ren is an incredible guitarist, but he's self-taught/UA-cam taught and isn't playing the nylon string to extract a "proper" tone from the guitar. He's playing it largely like he'd play a regular acoustic guitar rather than trying to "avoid" the kinds of picking/strumming you'd be told was "wrong" in classical playing. On top of that, I've heard that this guitar has a "dead" fret somewhere which, when he can't avoid it (... or wants to USE it purposefully maybe?) will cause the note to sound "dull" or "sour" depending how he plays.
Don’t worry about pausing. We have seen the videos many many times. We enjoy watching you reacting to Ren, it’s when we first found him. Brilliant reaction❤
Please also check out Chinchilla. She does a couple of duets with Ren and she is amazing as well. Fingers Live, Little Girl Lost, Cut You Off. I love her music!
Some of his music is just fun, not heavy or deep intellectually. Examples of this would be "what you want", "Losing it," "Love Music" series (particularly part 4), "1990es", "Down on the beat" etc
Great reaction! Definitely a powerful song and so relatable for anyone dealing with chronic or invisible illnesses or mental health struggles. Looking forward to the next Ren reaction ❤❤
You're not talking too much. We like authenticity, so just be honest. Most of us have seen the original videos and reactions to those videos many times, and it's interesting to see how people from different backgrounds take in Ren's work.
"Insane asylum" is probably appropriate to use when referring to the historic practices / facilities. Appropriate occasionally when referring to current facilities using practices & systems that can barely be differentiated from decades ago when they were officially called insane asylums. At least by me, who had over a dozen acute psychiatric inpatient hospital admissions (a couple involuntary). Some before I got assistance from my family to be able to afford private health insurance, which had to be the highest level of cover to have the abilty to get private mental health hospital stays. Private psychiatric astronomically better better than public in Australia. But considering my health insurer has been billed over $98000 in a year by one private psych hospital alone, they are expected to be exponentially better than public.... and that year was a relatively "light" mental health year - medication changes, respite, situational life stuff exacerbating my condition, physical disabilty exacerbating my psychosocial disability. Misdiagnosis is a bitch. I've had a few hundred dangerously incorrect physical/ medical diagnoses. I have a connective tissue disorder that was missed by countless specialists, clinicians, allied health professionals, emergency department doctors, experienced GPs. Had at least 60 emergency department visits with severe manifestations of it, things that could be seen on imaging scans or with cursary examination. All my medical stuff supposedly unrelated, but since a few family menders had the same "supposedly unrelated and not genetic" extremely rare medical emergencies, I started researching. I self diagnosed, got a doctor who would listen and refer me to a specialist who could diagnose, was on waitlist for 3 years and then got told "why did you wait until your 40s? This is so obvious! It should have been picked up in early childhood!" I had hundreds of medical doctors miss it alone, dozens of specialist medical doctors in replant fields miss it... I was the one to pick it up, from observations of my family, my medical history and physical attributes. I'm not a doctor. I started trying to find a reason myself when recovering from fractured vertebrae (atraumatic) that were initially missed. I've likely had fractured vertebrae before, but this one had a partially collapsed lung, and shoulder dislocation at the same time. Radiologist missed all three, doctor trusted radiology report instead of the X-rays (on which I could clearly see that all three issues) and took a week of pushing for another opinion to get referred for a CT scan, with advice from a radiographer in the family who said he could see what I saw. In the ct the spinal fracture, collapsed lung, shoulder were all found. And another spinal abnormality my brother told me to ask for them to look for. The GP told me it was impossible to have all of these happen at home without being in a major accident/ assault. I told him I'd had dozens of dislocations, collapsed lungs, fractures etc - to look at my medical history and medical imaging reports. He still couldn't believe virtually all happened in circumstances where someone else may get a minor strain/ sprain or no injury. I said I was more worried about the fact that he'd dismissed me for over a week, when there was a clear spinal fracture on a scan, and that I was losing sensation/ control on my dominant hand/ arm, and he hadn't yet done a neurological examination because he hadn't believed me. He didn't know how to do a neurological examination. I talked him through it based off what had been done previously. While my spine was recovering for a few months, I started looking into the supposedly "coincidental and not related" medical emergencies, diagnoses, abnormalities, symptoms etc I self diagnosed, and pushed for help. I'm lucky to have reasonable medical literacy from veterinary nursing, and doing most of a biomed degree, and having a few family menders who either work in health care or have an extreme special interest in learning about medical things. It was validation to have correctly connected the dots, and been able to persist in getting on a public waitlist for a specialist... but to have had my first related emergency department visit at 8yrs old, and diagnosis at 41yrs, with all those years of pain and fear and being ignored and almost dying... well fuck, or shouldn't have to be on the patient to investigate everything, go against everything they've been told by doctors, and then feel immediate acceptance about the formal diagnosis of their "extremely obvious" genetic disorder.
If you do the tales of Jenny and screech make sure you do the full version trilogy Jenny screech and finally violet's tale in that order otherwise it won't make sense great reaction 👍👍

Classical guitars have nylon strings and he did not seem to dislike REN was playing a classical guitar. In this song he plays with his finger like you do on a classical guitar when playing classical music, not with a pick as you would usually do on an acoustic guitar with steel strings.
😂 When u spoke on Ren’s guitar playing, I knew they’d come for you. 😂😂 Ren fans are extremely protective of their guy. Just ask CNN. They pulled ONE line out of Hi Ren “You got to kill you if you wanna kill me,” and suggested Ren was encouraging self deletion. The fans went after CNN hard and Ren posted an EPIC reaction, here: ua-cam.com/video/RWNlmlqZjBk/v-deo.htmlsi=LrrjnltYuWM6xw2e
Not sure if its been mentioned or not, but not all of his music is built around mental health issues, although most of what new listeners are introduced to is his personal songs

And don’t be afraid to pause and comment. That is the reason we are here. We want your spontaneous thoughts. Otherwise we could watch it on our own. Please keep reacting to Ren! I have watched tons of Ren reactions. You just might turn out to be a new favorite
You are in for a wild ride buddy. such a multi-talented artist, plenty more of his music is heading our way :D
He was given a lot if strong drugs for the wrong things bi polar which he didnt have Diazepam or Valium
Some people laughed at his suggestions it was a physical issue and one suggested he get a hobby
This when he lost years of his twenties to chronic sickness and is now trying to reverse all the damage the lymes caused his body and brain
He can only eat 5 types of food safely
I think any "rawness" from Hi-ren was on purpose.
I love the explaination of the system of not diagnoseing the bottom line problem.
Try a reaction to CRUTCH ! Just keep in mind Yellow lighting = PAIN and BLUE = psychosis So good ! and a different side of REN
Crutch breaks me every time!
Tale of Jenny and screech. All three songs.
Well, the music to Humble is very uplifting and fun, but the lyrics are quite deep and the lyrics to Power are not all that light.
@@annatraustadottir4387 True! That's why I said uplifting or fun, because they're not quite the same thing. For me, Humble and Power are uplifting despite the dark lyrics, and Losing It, What You Want and the Love Music series are fun. I probably should have split them up better.
@@annatraustadottir4387 By the way, you have a great Icelandic-looking name. I'm a Thompson/Knutson/Helle on my dad's side of the family.
A great one to react to would be Blind Eyed with Sam Tompkins. The one labeled angry car park attendant is my favorite, though the one at Crown is great too. For a different side of Ren, his song Uninvited is yet another new style. The different facets of his talent never cease to amaze. Have fun! 😁💜
@@Sunshiningme-jj9of Yes, Blind-Eyed and Uninvited are great. I forgot to mention his collaborations with Sam and Chinchilla.
Crutch is one of my absolute favourites! So beautiful and emotional.
@@Shiroar and like most of his music made with virtually 0 budget just a good group of friends!
We're not a cult. I promise. 😉🤣🤣 but seriously, loving your ren reactions! 😊💜🐷
We're a book club - Ren's Book Club!
I am a new subscriber due to your reacting to Ren ! Keep em coming ! 😊❤

Thank you!
Uh huh.....
I told you there would be a hoard of Ren supporters...
Here and subbed for your Ren rabbit hole journey. I hope I'm not being too assumptive.
Hippity-hoppity on down...you have a bunch of us on the edge of our seats waiting for your reactions.
You'll be a better counselor with Ren's perspective in your life.
The"Renegades" will never balk at you for pausing or talking too much. You've acquired a family of the kind of people that that reactors dream of.
Welcome!
Be ready for Chinchilla and Sam Tompkins as well as The Big Push...
I was born late 1959 and ive loved music of all genres as long as i can remember and i can not remember seeing anybody as talented as Ren.
Next do Chalk Outlines ren ft Chinchilla duet. Its soulful.
You need to watch Diazepam by Ren
Renegades- if you build it, we will come😅
But yes really liked your Hi Ren video, didn't get a chance to comment as had visitors arrive but did like your video! Happy to see you're doing more Ren, and now to watch❤
Thank you for the comment, kind words, and support, it means a lot!
He's right (as usual) - we're not sick, we're just having trouble fitting into an inhumane social construct that simply doesn't chime with our instincts as to what society should be. It doesn't matter how hard they hammer, you can't fit round pegs into square holes without causing damage.
The Trilogy
Thank you for reacting and help share RENs music even further ❤❤❤❤
w00t! Woke up to another Ren reaction from you. Bring it on Willie!
The RENegades happened. We call it the #RenEffect ❤
Another great reaction mate, I would make a tip for a request but don't have PayPal
We all are Renegade’s!!!! Subbing and liking!
Another RENegade here for your journey. Subbed
Thanks for the sub, comment, and support. It means a lot!
Doing a REN video on a specific day of the week like RENsDays you’ll get the audiance.
Watching Manchester uk. 👍👊
re: Ren's nylon string guitar (from tje perspective of a classically-trained pianist/orchestral French horn player/madrigal singer... all amateur, just to be clear) -
A nylon string guitar is a very expressive instrument, BUT to get a "beautiful tone" from it in an AGGRESSIVE way takes FORMAL lessons & hundreds and thousands of focused practice of the techniques you learn in those lessons.
Thanks!
Good job, Will! We've got an eye on you, I mean both, so go for more Ren! ✌️
Welcome to the world of Ren ! Many more songs out there to react to. 😎🎈
Welcome to the RENaissance 🤗
I would sugest you to react Next to Money game pt 1,2 and 3 😊
Another great one! Welcome to the Renegades!
welcome to the looking glass alice enjoy the trip.
Look forward to more REN.
The Ren Rabbit Hole is deep my friend - Take Oxygen, you won't want to come up for air. Ren defies genre. The genre is Ren 😘😉😆🇦🇺
You're in for a treat with the Money Game Trilogy.
Really great reaction. Don’t worry about too many pauses. It’s why I’m here. Thanks 🎉
Great reaction! ❤❤❤
Thank you for the comment and support!!!
My pleasure. ❤️
It should have been picked up in early childhood!"
I had hundreds of medical doctors miss it alone, dozens of specialist medical doctors in replant fields miss it...
While my spine was recovering for a few months, I started looking into the supposedly "coincidental and not related" medical emergencies, diagnoses, abnormalities, symptoms etc
I self diagnosed, and pushed for help.
❤ another great reaction ❤
OK now that you’ve heard this song, onto money game 1,2,and 3. They kind of pick up where this song leaves off. Nice review though I am enjoying it.
If you rewind a little, after pausing, you won't miss anything. :)
If people want the video without pauses they can go watch the original. We're here for you.
If you do the tales of Jenny and screech make sure you do the full version trilogy Jenny screech and finally violet's tale in that order otherwise it won't make sense great reaction 👍👍
I really appreciate your astute and thougtful comments. Subscribed. Ren evokes a lot of emotions...they may be not always positive as his videos and music or lyrics are sometimes provocative and disturbing. But he will always make you think and feel all kind of emotions. That's what I love so much about Ren. And yes, he's got songs just for fun, too. 😂
Great reaction to this and Hi Ren. New sub here along for the wild Ren Ride!
If you wanna go have a look at his full throttle rap songs:
The Hunger
Illest Of Our Time
Losing It (Fischer Remix)
Genesis
Nice reaction.
Please check out ready for you, heretic and everybody drops ❤❤❤ also check out the big push (one of the band's ren was in) I can't afford to donate so I'll patently wait and and hope that you have the time to check these requests out. Thanks ❤
Thank you for the comment and support, and no worries on the donation, I'm sure I'll get to each of these at some point as I'm thoroughly enjoying checking out all the Ren content : )
Please don't feel like you need to apologise for talking too much, it's what Ren does is gets people talking & it's a wonderful thing. I already sense you have a lot of important things to say & definitely here to listen 😊
Try Ren-The Hunger!
Why the f my comment appears 2 times every time when i post on your videos?!?
His guitar had nylon strings maybe what you didn't like?
Classical guitars have nylon strings and he did not seem to dislike REN was playing a classical guitar. In this song he plays with his finger like you do on a classical guitar when playing classical music, not with a pick as you would usually do on an acoustic guitar with steel strings.
😂 When u spoke on Ren’s guitar playing, I knew they’d come for you. 😂😂
Ren fans are extremely protective of their guy.
Ren's Chalk Outlines (do the live version) and to some extent Diezapam take a more pro-medication view IMO
🥲🇫🇮💙🪄🎼✨💯👍
Not sure if its been mentioned or not, but not all of his music is built around mental health issues, although most of what new listeners are introduced to is his personal songs
So THRILLED Your reacting to more Ren. Check out the Trilogy of Screech and Jenny with Violet or jump to the Trilogy of Money Game. Stay in order is a must or it will mess you up. There are treats in each that Ren puts into his artwork or I should say Easter eggs . ❤ Reaction
