If you look at the majority of races it could be "all-road" or "all-path" or "mostly-not-road". I hate the term gravel as to me gravel is thick river rock rural roads that you really shouldn't ride any bike on.
live near the beach in the US. Our gravel is sand, occasional mud, and occasional rocks from construction debris. It's all fun. I usually mt. bike race but this looks fun!
here in belgium we have similar races, not a racing series but as UCI fun races, i did 3 this year and competition is really hard in those with semi pro riders showing up. most fun ive had on a bike where those races
Super nice race/video. Full speed! What tire width and Pressure are you running Jasper? Regarding bottle cage on Gravel. Specialized Ribcage 2 in plastic should do the trick. - Also tested on Swedish Rockgarden..
Hey Jasper, love your videos and positive commentary. Very enjoyable! What settings do you use for your insta 360 x4 to get the right amount of motion blur?
For the bottle cage, go for an aluminum. Thin carbon holders flex too much. Aluminium is less affected by this. You can also bend aluminum a little so that your bottle is even tighter. Carbon is a few grams lighter. But think drinking is more important.
Yep that could work. I used plastic cages that have never given issues (on road) but had other (plastic) cages with a tighter fit and those work well 👍🏻
I rode a bike once with fidlock. Most annoying bottles I have experienced. Also, it’s not practical as you can never take any other bottle. In races sometimes you rotate 6 bottles so you’d need to have all of them with the system… and you throw them away at the feedzone, bye bye expensive bottles.
I am racing mtb for 12 years and I have never lost a single bottle. I am emotionally attached to them. Even tough I mostly use water bladder. They are superior in every way.
That’s a long time ago! I don’t like breaking promises…. But I’m not doing any gym training anymore so not able to shoot that video in my current training.
Gravel snobbery is so daft. For a sport founded on no rules and freedom, there seems to be a lot of so called rules. To my mind, gravel is simply not road, but not so rough that it is XC. And without obstacles and a short course that would make it cyclo-cross. Simple.

WHAT IS GRAVEL??? DISCUSS HERE! 👇
If you look at the majority of races it could be "all-road" or "all-path" or "mostly-not-road". I hate the term gravel as to me gravel is thick river rock rural roads that you really shouldn't ride any bike on.
I kinda look at it as a 3-4 hour cx race without the obstacles.
if its not tarmac/paved... then its gravel racing imo. ... plus i need that camera! lol
Gravel is everything that's not paved or cobbled! 🎉
Gravel was called ATB ten years ago
live near the beach in the US. Our gravel is sand, occasional mud, and occasional rocks from construction debris. It's all fun. I usually mt. bike race but this looks fun!
That’s it!
Love deze video's mede fietser 🎉 we al need more of this types of video's 😊
awesome stuff Jasper, great power. use alloy bottle cages as you can bend in to fit, cannondale gt40 cages - bomb proof.
heerlijke beelden zo met die insta360
great race, love the race content
You are a beast! 💪🏼

It’s great practice and great training!💪
For sticks in the chain rings try pedalling backwards slowly to clear those small bits.
Well I tried that. Stick was sticking through the chainring😩
Great Race🎉👍👊
Super nice race/video. Full speed!

Hele vette beelden Jasper!
Thanks!
That's dirt-and-shingle racing! Gravel is specifically those little black stones they mix with tar to make tarmac... 😁
Some people call that gravel yes 🤷🏼♂️

I agree with everything you said (about,”what is gravel”). Basically not road.
Why would you not use a Fidlock? They are incredible at locking on and staying in place.
I rode a bike once with fidlock. Most annoying bottles I have experienced.

Nice race! Really crit like dirt ride
Awesome footage, feels like a videi game lol
🤣
LOVED IT
This looks mega
This is Epe not Rijssen right
Dit is Rijssen. Kijk maar naar m’n Strava file.
In de uitslagen op knwu staat geloof ik Epe maar dat klopt niet
NO 8KG BIKE FOR SURE😮
8 kg bike?
@jasperverkuijl all endurance below 7kg😁
@jasperverkuijl your fast but 4 of them are furious 😁
Jasper, leuk om de beelden te zien.

I use a Velcro strap to ensure I don't lose a bottle.

Ive not lost a bottle in cape epic either. Had different cages.
But maybe the suspension will also help keeping them in
Pls make video you promised how to convert strenght training to power ;)
That’s a long time ago! I don’t like breaking promises…. But I’m not doing any gym training anymore so not able to shoot that video in my current training.
Cha, no worries! Any drawbacks from not doing wheight lifting for your racing? Lower sprint power or smth?
man i wish i can average 300W some day
its long distance cross haha
Noooooooo totally different
is true tire for road is faster than tire gravel while they are in road?
What?
It does, it's called cyclo-cross....
Totally different thing imo!
Cyclocross is not a Criterium, dismounts, off camber, flyovers, mud...
And you call this one a B race. Ok 😅
