Funnyman46873 I had the Moto X 1st gen and the speakers blew my mind. They were amazing! These are like two of the first gens slapped on. Friends get jealous when I can stero sound my phone, and their Iphones can barely be heard over mine 😂
Christopher Carlsen see idk about Huawei. They don't have the same track record Motorola has. Hey, but it doesn't hurt to try, they are both great phones! I just had good luck with the Motorola brand itself.
+Micah McElhaney While, I'd beg to differ that the last year's Moto X and the one before that weren't exactly the best option but they were awesome nonetheless. This year though I think Moto has finally, finally made a phone that could actually compete with Samsung and Apple's iPhone and that says something for a phone with half the price tag.
Great review Captain2phones. Currently I have a Moto X 2013 and I want to upgrade to the new Moto X Pure Edition, but since Google released the Nexus 6p I am not sure which one to get. So if you can create a video between these two phones would be great. I highly respect your opinion. You are simply the best.
The fingerprint it´s not that important for me. Prefer a good battery, camera, snappy performance, and a well build mobile. The perfect size for me will be the Samsung S6, and it´s camera. Mix this one with a more pure android like a Nexus or even a Moto device , and you will have the perfect phone. Don´t forget the Micro SD :3 The selfie camera they can take it away if they want. For me it´s a gimmick.
Yes but since the dimple on the back is already there the addition of a fingerprint reader would complete the package. No reader is far from a deal breaker for me (I'm perfectly happy with my HTC one m8) people who've used them would likely find it hard to go back.
Lachlan H Nice one the HTC M8 ;) . I would like to buy the new Nexus 6p ,but it will depend on the price. Here in Europe it doesn´t seem that we will have a competitive price.
Your reviews are 10/10. From video editing, to commentary, to your opinion on everything. Keep up the good work. Oh and as for the phones, I think I'll roll with my '13 nexus 5 til it dies, then I'll decide what to get (most likely a Moto x, if it's not too big to hold).
1. I appreciate what you're doing here. 2. I appreciate you using a Pinback song to demo the speakers. 3. With newer, reduced price points being offered on the 5x, would you still prefer the Moto X as a consumer?
Excellent review as always. Among my favorite reviews to watch are yours. Also, wanted to mention, if people are pre-ordering that Nexus, don't forget there is a $50 Play Store credit included. That is a big selling point. The Google music subscription too, but especially $50 Play credit. That is a good bit of premium apps, games, music, shows, etc.
+Andrew Bilen +Pocketnow Although the 5X and Moto X are closer in price, I think the 6P and Moto X are more evenly matched for comparison. Look forward to the video.
The video recording comparison shows that ....... Michael Fisher is one of the best if not the best smartphone reviewers around . Great review Michael.
I originally dismissed the Pure Edition because I thought for some reason it had an Amoled display, but this is most definitely not the case, so it's right back in the running. Verizon support without all the nonsense makes it a very strong contender.
Hey, I was just hanging out at Harvard the other day! Sorry I didn't see you. I had lunch at Flat Patties. First time I've even been to Harvard. Would've made my day bumping into Michael Fisher doing a camera test.
That was dope that's the exact review I was looking for I'm not sure if one with the 6p is necessary but it would be good for people who are looking at stock Android phone options and seeing how much $100 price difference would make
I actually cancelled my preorder of a N5X and bought the Moto X Style/Pure. Had it for 2 weeks now and I love it. My only issue so far is poor battery life. It's pretty terrible however I am hoping the Marshmallow update will help with that.
Watched this to decide between the 5x and the pure edition, and chose the 5x. Have to say, not disappointed in that choice. Came over from an iphone 6, and though the battery life isn't as good the overall performance and quality of the device has sold me on android.
I would really like to see a Nexus 5x vs Note 5. Yeah, I know they aren't really competing devices, but I'm interested. I have a feeling the Nexus has some advantages over the Note.
I think the software updates in the long run will make you feel like you have a new phone with each upgrade in the Nexus and the phone can get better with time because of this instead of being the same or become worse. The Moto X will be stuck in time. I think the Nexus is the best choice when thinking of this.
Well this made me very clear that I have to get the Moto X Pure. It beats the 5x in all the clear areas I'm looking at. Only downside is no fingerprint sensor and instant updates, but I can easily manage without those.
I always felt that HDR+ is a confusing name. It is less about the HDR effect but about using computational photography to improve the picture quality. On the Nexus 6 it is so effective that it turns the mediocre sensor into something that can see in the dark with little grain. For most pictures it should simply always be on. So I'm wondering: were those lowlight shots taken with or without HDR+?
hey mister can you do the same review with nexus 6p please? It would be nice to see what you think as I really want to buy one of them two. even tho I can imagine which comes out on top
The Moto X may be more "stable" but notice how on the shots both with and without jostle, the Nexus 5X (and 6P if you watched the other similar video) has much less "motion blur". The Moto X video is "stable" but also choppy and blurry to the point where the jitter of the 5X (and 6P) is still better to deal with because you can at least see what's going on through it.
If the Nexus 5x had a 64GB option and/or expandable storage, I would probably lean towards it more due to its size and software. Since it currently doesn't, however, I'm leaning more towards the Moto X Pure. I just prefer internal memory to cloud memory, and the customization and added features of the Moto X are great additions. The size is a bit discouraging, but I could probably get used to it.
The SD card slot, better display, dual front speakers and the motion sensors for the active display makes it a fairly easy choice for me. ANYWAY, I'm not buying any of them, I will stick to my original Nexus 5 and wait till next year (come on LG G5!!). Why?? See for yourselves: Nexus 5X: 479 euros (544 US dollars) Motorola Moto X: 524 euros (595 US dollars) PS: Thank you very much for the active display comments Michael, really appreciated.
Yes please compare the Nexus 6P to the Moto X Pure (MXP).. I played with an MXP for about 10 minutes at BestBuy some weeks back & was amazed not just by the $399 from price but by its speakers & screen. Coming from a Samsung Note 4 (battery life is not good) with previous Note 2 (good battery life but it just developed the white screen of death when it was plugged in with minimal use for a long time), screen+speakers are always very important with any upgrade consideration. I actually like the MXP's LCD & while AMOLED can look cartoony fake so please compare the Nexus 6P Screen color accuracy, brightness (from min to max), sharpness, speakers (watching UA-cam movie trailer or tech review & different music & vocals) comparison etc.. Please include Nexus 6P slo motion comparison as the Nexus 6P also captures slo mo sound (unlike MXP or my Note 4 or even Note2 which don't capture slow mo sound with its slow mo video), does the 6P or 5X do fast motion video with audio capture as well? - Thanks BTW, the lack of removable batteries in both & lack of replaceable storage in Nexus 6P may be a difficult transition for us Note line owners.. I enjoyed your Nexus 6P review but would love further in depth comparison of speakers-screen-battery life-any lag-available storage space considerations etc -Thanks & I'm thinking the Nexus 6P may just be my first Nexus with its carrier freedom+OS updates (after many prior Nexus model considerations where Nexus lost out in head to head comparisons).
Hmm great review and does look like the Moto is the better option. I still think I'm getting the 5x though. Better size and reliable updates is important to me
I really thought that that moto x was really ugly because of the colors, until I realized that it would be perfect for a Fallout fan. Now I really like it :)
since u said the nexus 5x has less ram I'm curious to see how much ram each phone uses. Maybe the 5x is more efficient. I am also worried about people saying the moto won't get updates after a year or so. that's a deal breaker for me even if it does have better specs the nexus will have support for at least 2 years. ANother thing I heard is that updates on the moto had bugs that slowed down their phones and had to wait a while for updates. I don't know how much is true but if it is I rather go with the 5x. maybe a little lower specs but software is equally as important
+Marco Martins I rooted my Moto X and pretty much got rid of some problems Mr Fisher listed in this video. I now have a notification light and my apps are in denser in the display. I also have to say the N5X shouldn't be THAT much easier to yield one-handed. The Moto X isn't a whole lot bigger in size (it has a better footprint, screen-to-body ratio) and it's rubber materials and dimple really help. I absolutely love this phone (coming from a GS3)
Patrick Kieffer nice to ear that, I have the "old" 1st Moto G (2013) and I might still not upgrade this year but Moto X is a strong contender if I got now a new phone, btw I got today the 5.1 update lol (was 5.0.2)
Great review, but it definitely doesn't help those who aren't great at making purchasing decisions (yours truly). Still using the original Moto X here, where the speed and stability of the device are becoming somewhat questionable. Here's my dream device in 2016: Nexus 5y (or 4x, whatever you prefer): 4.7" - 5" 1080p or higher AMOLED smartphone, built by Motorola. Keep the camera from this year as well as the fingerprint scanner, and make the base model 32GB. Allow us to customize it in MotoMaker, and give us a MicroSD card slot. Since it's a Motorola-built phone, give us access to the Moto app and all its nice little functions. Give us a 2800Mah battery or better. Oh, and sell it through at least one of the major carriers so that we can go hold the phone in our hands and decide whether we can picture ourselves pawing at this thing for years to come.
Moto X Pure! Coming from the HTC One M7 brushed Aluminum Gawd Phone to my Bamboo Wood backed Moto X Pure has been great thus far. The phone is huge..and you'll have to get use to using it with two hands and having it uncomfortably bulge in pants and jacket pockets..but other than that, I have no complaints whatsoever!
I'm torn between the Moto X pure and the nexus 6 p ..it's like six of one and half a dozen of the other I just can't decide. So a comparison between them would be a great help for me
Google is only providing support for 2 years, and Motorola is providing support for at least 1 year. If you want the latest updates then you'll eventually need to flash them regardless of the device, so the real question is 'Is the 5x (32 GB) worth $30 more if its only real advantage is a fingerprint sensor?'
Am I the only one who keeps hoping in these videos that eventually one of them is going to go into the display settings and activate the "double-twist" camera shortcut on the Nexus phones? I'm not sure if it's in the 5X though but if it's in the 6P I think it should be here too...
+MrBlitz While that gesture was initially built in to both Nexii, it's since been removed from both. pocketnow.com/2015/10/15/nexus-double-twist-camera-gesture ^M
+Pocketnow Oh well, this's a bit of a bummer. While I'm most certainly not going to see this anytime soon on the new Nexus phones but if the Qualcomm SoCs can physically do this, I'll keep hoping they bring this maybe via software... maybe. Thanks Michael!
@4:38 .. Dayum! Look at us human beings! All engrossed in our devices... Creating contacts but not having conversations to the person sitting in front. The future looks terrifying. :/
Wow you have been busy this week Michael, and yet have still managed to produce consistently good videos. For that I applaud you!
Mmm that chilled chaos music at the beginning.
ikr
Man each of this 2 has what the other doesn't.
+Lorenzo Rey Camejo If only we can fuse them
+Jin Wei See Toh Fuuuuuu....sion......HA!!!! (Dragon Ball referense)
+Jin Wei See Toh 6P!
+Lorenzo Rey Camejo Nexus 6p?
Ha! That's always the case. This phone has this..... But that phone has that........
Moto X Pure would be anyone's best bet. I've had Moto for years and they always come out on top.
+Micah McElhaney the moto x has amazing speakers and build quality and super fast turbo charging.
Funnyman46873 I had the Moto X 1st gen and the speakers blew my mind. They were amazing! These are like two of the first gens slapped on. Friends get jealous when I can stero sound my phone, and their Iphones can barely be heard over mine 😂

I love nexus, but Moto x pure kills the nexus 5x... Several times
+Niki Dimitrov If only it had a fingerprint scanner it would kill the 5x and launch it's mangled corpse into the sun.
The fingerprint it´s not that important for me. Prefer a good battery, camera, snappy performance, and a well build mobile. The perfect size for me will be the Samsung S6, and it´s camera. +Lachlan H (Megaman1574) Daaammmmmnnnnnnnn...O_O!
Michael! .....You're the absolute BEST! The tech space would really suck without you!
Thank you Michael Fisher for that comparison. I have been going back and forth between these two.
You guys have done it again, outstanding comparison, absolutely unparalleled insight.
1. I appreciate what you're doing here.
2. I appreciate you using a Pinback song to demo the speakers.
3. With newer, reduced price points being offered on the 5x, would you still prefer the Moto X as a consumer?
Wow, the screen on the N5X is so yellow! Moto X Style all the way!
+Minh Pham Just adding my experience, my 5X's screen tone looks a lot cooler than how it looked in pictures in videos.
Yes!!! Love this review!! I was expecting more comparisons of the MotoX!
Moto X vs Nexus 6P comparison please
+Andrew Bilen +Pocketnow Although the 5X and Moto X are closer in price, I think the 6P and Moto X are more evenly matched for comparison. Look forward to the video.
Super stoked - about to order Moto X Pure and already ordered 64gb microSD card!! WOOT!
The video recording comparison shows that ....... Michael Fisher is one of the best if not the best smartphone reviewers around .
Great review Michael.

Thank you so much for making this video! These were my final 2 new phone candidates
Hey, I was just hanging out at Harvard the other day! Sorry I didn't see you. I had lunch at Flat Patties. First time I've even been to Harvard. Would've made my day bumping into Michael Fisher doing a camera test.
Hey +pocket now what is that aircraft game in the beginning of the video call? Great video!
4:45
Michael: "What is my life..." XD
Moto X Pure is great across the board except for its size. If it were just a tiny bit smaller with 5.5" display instead of 5.7", it would be perfect.
+alexeiz I wish there was 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM, not LPDDR3. I also wish it had USB Type-C.
That was dope that's the exact review I was looking for I'm not sure if one with the 6p is necessary but it would be good for people who are looking at stock Android phone options and seeing how much $100 price difference would make
Awesome comparison.. comparison that we wanted for! great video Micheal Fischer.. keep up the good work!!
Nice comparison. I think it will be interesting to see how the MotoXStyle with marshmallow will compare with the 6P.
I actually cancelled my preorder of a N5X and bought the Moto X Style/Pure. Had it for 2 weeks now and I love it. My only issue so far is poor battery life. It's pretty terrible however I am hoping the Marshmallow update will help with that.
nice comparison. can you guys please make a moto x and nexus 6p comparison video!? that's the video I'm waiting around!
Man do i enjoy these reviews
definitely wanna see the moto x pure vs Nexus 6P :D
You 100% forgot how the nexus 5x can do 120 fps slow-motion video in the camera section...very important I'd say +Pocketnow
(I bought the moto x Pure myself, so i wasn't being biased at all)
Your song selection's are absolutely awesome.
the review I have been waiting on. I have the S6 edge and I won't be getting this but a man can dream.
+Chester Foster follow your dreams bro :D
You could easily sell the edge and get one of these phones instead.
why would you get these if you already have s6? youre either a fail liar or just plain idiot
before someone says "he said hes not getting". yes, but he wanted one of these which is basically saying I like these more than my phone
+JWil97 Maybe because he hates touchwiz? I'm thinking of getting rid of my Note 4 for one of these. They are much more affordable off contract.
Watched this to decide between the 5x and the pure edition, and chose the 5x. Have to say, not disappointed in that choice. Came over from an iphone 6, and though the battery life isn't as good the overall performance and quality of the device has sold me on android.
Michael, massive points for pinback!
Please do a Nexus 5x vs Sony Xperia Z5 Compact comparision.
Ye I'd love that
no z5 and z5 compact kill the 5x...
+Nemesis YT NOPE
Man, we need a comparison between X and Nexus 6p please !
If only there was a Nexus 5P, I would definitely fall in love with a premium stock android 5 inch smartphone :D
Thanks for the video! I have been going crazy on which phone to get. Especially these two.
Do the comparison with the 6P please!! Im super on the fence
I would really like to see a Nexus 5x vs Note 5. Yeah, I know they aren't really competing devices, but I'm interested. I have a feeling the Nexus has some advantages over the Note.
One of the most useful comparisons I've every seen.
I'm curious to see how the Moto X compares with the Nexus 6P.
Thank you for bringing up the icon tile density, I really hope this is a marshmallow feature that will fix this issue for all phones.
I think the software updates in the long run will make you feel like you have a new phone with each upgrade in the Nexus and the phone can get better with time because of this instead of being the same or become worse. The Moto X will be stuck in time. I think the Nexus is the best choice when thinking of this.
You're joking
you know Motorola gives updates nearly as fast right?
Not anymore
I'd really love to see your take on Nexus 6P vs. Moto X Pure edition (2015), since I can't decide currently
Wait a minute... Hasn't Michael Fisher his own channel (MrMobile)?
Very well made video! excellent comparision and detail! One of the best camparos I have seen!
you can have the active sensor on nexus with ACDisplay
Well this made me very clear that I have to get the Moto X Pure. It beats the 5x in all the clear areas I'm looking at. Only downside is no fingerprint sensor and instant updates, but I can easily manage without those.
The comparison we all needed.
+Pocketnow what's the name of that game you were playing on the moto x style in the starting of the video?
Man I REALLY miss Michael
Simply just enjoy your style of presentation Michael! Thanks!
Can we have some general thoughts about the battery life, because I'm scared of what you said during the Moto x Pure review about it.
Exactly the video I was looking for. You've helped me make the hard choice! Moto X for me.
hey mister can you do the same review with nexus 6p please?
Am I alone in having never heard of Pinback ever and only knowing about them because of Michael Fisher Pocketnow videos?
Thanks for another great review Michael. I don't know how you keep it all fresh. I agree with you, I would select the Moto.
I love my moto x pure I just got it Monday and I have no regrets xD
You forgot to add that another reason to get a Nexus would be Project Fi. That's why I'm getting one :).
I'm always a fan of Michael Fisher's videos. But I would really rather see the 6P vs the Moto X.
At this point the Moto X hasn't updated to Marshmallow. Late updates will always keep me away from OEM's.
I'd love to see a comparison between the Nexus 5x and the Galaxy S6 as they have nearly identical display sizes and in Europe cost about the same.
dang everytime he said moto x , moto assistance popped up on my phone lol
I feel that this comparison was a bit off, I think the real competition of nexus 5x is one plus 2. but great review like always
im interested in a moto x vs nexus p review like this one. thumps up!:)
The SD card slot, better display, dual front speakers and the motion sensors for the active display makes it a fairly easy choice for me. ANYWAY, I'm not buying any of them, I will stick to my original Nexus 5 and wait till next year (come on LG G5!!). Why?? See for yourselves:
Nexus 5X: 479 euros (544 US dollars)
Motorola Moto X: 524 euros (595 US dollars)
PS: Thank you very much for the active display comments Michael, really appreciated.
Aw man. I can't imagine UA-cam not being free :(
I would make a new UA-cam . Freetube😂
+Bryson Parry (Thrusty) do it soon man
+wihmib lol
+wihmib your right.
+Bryson Parry (Thrusty) YOU'RE* grammar nazis -.-
This is the fight of the year!
If Motorola can keep with Nexus updates than I'm going with Motorola. I don't mind if it takes longer as long it's supported through out the years.
- Thanks
BTW, the lack of removable batteries in both & lack of replaceable storage in Nexus 6P may be a difficult transition for us Note line owners..
Better size and reliable updates is important to me
It doesn't matter which one you get, you will be happy with both.
Fantastic comparison which was extremely useful to me.
Definitely pit the Moto X against the 6P when you get the chance !
I really thought that that moto x was really ugly because of the colors, until I realized that it would be perfect for a Fallout fan. Now I really like it :)
so moto x pure edition, oneplus 2, nexus 5x or htc one a9? this year has a lot of good phones around $400!!!
since u said the nexus 5x has less ram I'm curious to see how much ram each phone uses.
Moto X doesn't have a notification light?
It instead uses the active display moto featute
+William Reed Kerr This. ^M
damn... active display is an option but with no amoled screen to save battery makes no sence imo...
+Marco Martins
I rooted my Moto X and pretty much got rid of some problems Mr Fisher listed in this video.
Patrick Kieffer nice to ear that, I have the "old" 1st Moto G (2013) and I might still not upgrade this year but Moto X is a strong contender if I got now a new phone, btw I got today the 5.1 update lol (was 5.0.2)
definitely do a 6p vs x pure comparison. Thank You!
Great review, but it definitely doesn't help those who aren't great at making purchasing decisions (yours truly). Still using the original Moto X here, where the speed and stability of the device are becoming somewhat questionable.
Here's my dream device in 2016:
Nexus 5y (or 4x, whatever you prefer): 4.7" - 5" 1080p or higher AMOLED smartphone, built by Motorola.
The video we've all been waiting for
I'm torn between the Moto X pure and the nexus 6 p ..it's like six of one and half a dozen of the other I just can't decide. So a comparison between them would be a great help for me
Except for the camera (and only maybe), the Moto X Pure is on my list as a replacement for my Nexus 6 sometime early next year.
Eagerly waiting for this video ;-)
Another classy video. Thanks Michael.
Moto X Pure / Style is the overall better smartphone in my opinion. Really nice comparison, well done!
Am I the only one who keeps hoping in these videos that eventually one of them is going to go into the display settings and activate the "double-twist" camera shortcut on the Nexus phones? I'm not sure if it's in the 5X though but if it's in the 6P I think it should be here too...

+Pocketnow Oh well, this's a bit of a bummer. While I'm most certainly not going to see this anytime soon on the new Nexus phones but if the Qualcomm SoCs can physically do this, I'll keep hoping they bring this maybe via software... maybe. Thanks Michael!
any performance comparison between 5X and Moto X style/pure? In terms of daily usage, apps opening, multi-tasking etc.
how i wish they launch a smaller version of the moto x pure
love this channel. you give a very nice comparison
@4:38 .. Dayum! Look at us human beings!
All engrossed in our devices... Creating contacts but not having conversations to the person sitting in front. The future looks terrifying. :/
It is actually not a $20, unless you just don't want to add anything to your moto through moto maker which I highly doubt.
I really wish the Moto X was smaller or had a smaller variant 😭
+OGBoshy Agree. But the Moto X 2014 is actually aging quite well if you've got the Pure version. ua-cam.com/video/A2fuqpgbw_A/v-deo.html ^M
It actually has a small footprint for a 5.7" phone..
