Subtle, sublime opening, then something wonderful happens right around 2:32, where the melody changes, and then by 2:54 when the percussion comes in, we are off for a wild ride. By 5:00 the intense concentration of the musicians turns to smiles, enjoying this creation of theirs.

ralphyboy25 That my friend, is a very old warrior-dance called Pentozalis. Is a very tough and honourable dance, performed before or after the battle!
Dragoş Scarlat Thanks for background information. This is really fantastic how the music builds as the song progresses. Your explanation is right on. The quality and skill of these musicians is evident.
+ralphyboy25 my other reply doesn't show to other users because it had a link to a youtube video inside; so i will reformulate: check out "Invartita de Maramures" (with youtube search) for similarities, it is folklore from North of Romania.
PENTOZALIS The old warrior dance of the eastern romans! And one cool thing, you'll hear same tune and rythm in romanian folklore. There is a very deep millenary connection between we, romanians and you, greeks! Long live our old empire! :D
+Dragoş Scarlat can you say some songs to listen my friend

check "Tropotita de pe Iza" or "Mierlita cand e bolnava by Florea Cioaca". The fiddle in romanian music always follow same mediteraneean pattern we all see in greek music and for me it's not a shocking thing, romanians and greeks once lived together in same empire.
Greek, especially music from Crete (right). The musician I think is French but he plays a Cretan instrument, laouto (middle). I think Lebanese but I'm not sure (left). edit : If there are any mistakes, sorry.
Blue Nightfox The man in the middle is actually Spanish and plays many traditional instruments. The man on the left is Iranian and he’s playing daf, an Iranian percussion instrument

+Dragoş Scarlat there are two songs: rizitiko and pentozalis.... "rizitika" songs are not danced. Their music is severe with a lot of pain
+Helen Agnadopoulou Yes, I know, ritziko isnt danced but Pentozalis it is.
