@@Aarontlondon Black pudding has long been associated with Lancashire and is popular in many parts of England. I agree with you about hash browns - they're American, as are baked beans. If your active, this type of food will do you no harm. My grandfather's 89, eats all kinds of food, doesn't smoke, doesn't consume alcohol, walks 3km a day, and has plenty of good food.
It's sad to see that a lot of people consider a good old fry up as bad food, get off your lazy ass, stay active, eat well and be happy :)

Looks class but needs black pudding and beans to be complete. Dumpling and potato scones too maybe. Plus on the side there needs to be toast with a selection of jams, a few pieces of fruit, a pot of tea or big cup of coffee and some orange juice. That's perfection.

@@haunteddiary15 An interesting thesis; however, as I explained in my post, the traditional English breakfast goes back decades: that is decades before someone added baked beans in the early 20th century. Also traditional potato cakes, as enjoyed in Ireland and Scotland, bear no resemblance to the "hash browns" beloved by Americans. They more closely resemble the Swiss Rösti, in which grated raw potato is the main ingredient. I have been fortunate enough to find myself sitting in American kitchens closely watching American chefs tenderly making and slowly cooking their "hash browns" on a few occasions. Not for them the pre-frozen cakes that contain small compressed chunks of potato so beloved of the frozen food industry.
