    Early PCs had the power switch on the back - it took them a while to put it in a logical spot. It seems that 3D printer makers are repeating that history.
    This is one of the better videos that I've seen for the Plus 4. I'm considering buying one instead of another Bambu Lab X1. Thanks for the information.

      @@TwoMooseToo Since you have both machines, a comparison of print quality between the X1C and Plus 4 could be interesting, in whatever materials you use.

    • @JTs3DPrints
      @JTs3DPrints Місяць тому

      I am hoping after this recent round on new releases and higher quality faster machines that some of these companies start learning that time spent on fine tuning quality is important, I think Bambu is a great example with their release of the X1, it shows that attention to details matters. They had great success and jumped to top of the pack with quality and simplicity in mind. In the coming two years we will see the amount of companies shrink as those who pay attention to what consumers want begin to totally dominate or fail.
      I did take some time the past week and have really spent some time working on fine tuning the Plus4 and also my Q1 pro, getting very impressive results. I spent most of my energies on accel and decel settings also dialing back cornering a bit. There is a setting in there that has a default of 90% for smoothing and says it involves the straight run prior to a corner on how print head behaves going into corner how soon it begins slow down, I dialed this number down to 80 from 90 and noticed some remarkable improvements on final outer wall layers. I am finding keeping all acceleration numbers down around 3800-5500 max and slowing down z a notch with few other settings is causing print quality to really come out incredible even when pushing higher speeds.
      I also have been using a new favorite PLA for made by Overture, it is a multi color Rock series from Overture available through Amazon. It has a great price, but most importantly and incredible matte finish with a fantastic multicolor look that reminds me of the colors one sees out west in the Grand Canyon. This Overture Rock series PLA is amazing, they have several incredible multi color offerings all in a gorgeous velvety matte finish. I did up several statues that were the max size of the Plus4 and came out absolutely stunning. They had no layer lines, and some of these new PLA's trying out look amazing. I went through 4 kg of them in the past week, will be ordering up a few dozen rolls going forward.
      If anyone is having tough time getting final quality up on the Plus4 make sure you spend some time working on some of the above mentioned settings, the payback is fantastic. I have always been an ABS guy, but in the past week some of the PLA's have really grown on me, especially when using them for very large statues, I can see why PLA popularity remains so high, the surface finish is hard to beat on a high quality filament.

    I usually don't watch unboxings, but this one was pretty entertaining. At least they sent dark colored filament instead of white which hides all flaws on camera.

    It's a nice looking printer at a good price point, but the P1S is at the same price point and delivers superior user experience and print quality. Shouldn't have to manually download updates to a thumb drive to get it to work. Should definitely come with a 2nd nozzle. Should just work with Orca slicer. Should just work out of the box. These companies keep trying to come out with their own skinned slicers, but they're never really good enough, and making it so the printer only wants to work with the limited/malfunctioning skinned proprietary slicer is a serious turn-off for potential buyers.
    If I was on the Qidi development team, I'd be telling them to ditch the skinned slicer and just make it work with Orca, and to perfect the machine to the point it just works out of the box, like Bambu. Literally, follow Bambu's business and production template. Then Qidi would really be taking sales away from Bambu, because the Qidi has a larger build plate, which is probably the biggest single complaint from Bambu users.
    I won't say nobody wants their 3D printing hobby to be about spending a huge amount of time messing around with the printer just to try to get it to work right. Those people are definitely out there. But I feel like they're dwindling in number compared to the people who just want to be able to print stuff reliably. That's really where Bambu succeeds compared to everyone else, that and support and depth of aftermarket supplies.

    Bambu Labs was basically the reigning champion. After all other printer companies got knocked down in the 3rd-5th round, Bambu has been celebrating 🙌. Unbeknownst to Bambu, it’s now round 15 & Qidi just got back up while Bambu has been too distracted by the fanboy crowd. Qidi just knocked Bambu out, but it was so swift, they don’t know what hit them yet. The shockwave hasn’t been felt yet. With Bambu’s invasive network plugin, this just did them in.

      @MisterkeTube 3 місяці тому +1

      Owning a P1S and having seen dozens of the reviews of this Plus4, I don't think Qidi is playing at the same level of QA. Overall it's a nice offering for the price, but the problems with the linear bearings, several people having problems with the firmware upgrade and some other issues (some indeed solved with a manual firmware upgrade), just put it at a lower quality level than Bambu. And then there is the 24v bed ... Why? Especially since they did use an AC bed before ... But more important in my eyes is that also Qidi is one of those companies rotating their printer offerings at least every year. That"s needed for them to catch up, but if they keep on doing that, it also means buyers will quickly be out in the cold as the printer they bought will barely be supported in a year from now and the community around each type will be limited because it always gets superseded by the next generation.
