- William Thatcher is a peasant in medieval Europe. His master died & William has been competing in jousting under an assumed name. To compete you must be of noble birth & when Williams lie is discovered, he is put on display in the stocks.

'Your men love you. If I knew nothing else about you that would be enough' love that line.
The part that i really love about this scene aside from the prince is when paul bettany closes his eyes at 2:55. His reaction is like "my god, it actually happened" its so perfect.
that is my word... and as such, is beyond contestation... I love this!
This scene is much better here, the theatrical cut, than it was in the Directors cut.
in the DC Edwards doesnt unveil himself until the crowd has died down. Somehow I always thought that made him a bit weak.
Here, his presence calms the crowds down. As a true prince/would be king, should.
This movie is so underrated. Great story.
I LOVE at 2:56 his friend closes his eyes cuz he's so proud of his friend and he's trying to hold back his emotions. Such a moving action.
I love the Black Prince. Most badass likeable character in history
Before seeing this film several years ago I had some doubts as to whether modern actors had the strength and presence of their predecessors - this film and particularly this scene cleared my doubts. RIP Heath.
An amazing movie. This scene is the most moving piece of cinematic footage I have seen. No mater how many times I watch it I am shaken to my very depths of being. A commoner forgiven of is transgressions and proclaimed royalty by the prince of the most high.
Damn straight. Talk to the large men behind him with the swords if you do wish to contest it.
Best scene in this movie, which was a fun one as it was. Surprised that we haven't seen James Purefoy (the prince) in other movies.
the best scene in the whole movie... and that too is knightly....
After the funny stuff this is the best moment of the film. You can change your future if you never give up on it. Own your future.
this is by far my favorite movie of all time this is my word and as such is beyond contestation lol love this scene
Love Paul Bettany's performance!!
Oh what a pair we make...both trying to hide who we are, both unable to do so...your men love you and if I knew nothing else about you that'll be enough
A melhor cena do filme!
Most epic part of any movie! Thank you for posting this!!! I admit, I get so excited as he is about to remove his hood. Can you blame me?
Joe Carroll "knighting" the Joker...
this really was a amazing movie
...but you tilt when you should withdraw and that is knightly too.
No. This is Edward the black prince, son of Edward III and great grandson of Longshanks.
I love this scene.
first, the crowd were all booing at Will, but after the Black Knight dubs Will as a knight, the crowd began to cheer.... typical of english people....
me too. That was definitivly the best speech of chausser :D
A Knight's Tale
But the very best part of this scene has been cut and is only available in the bonus features. It is THE BEST speach of Chaucer in the whole movie.
Perhaps not /history/, but this movie, certainly. He was awesome :D
aw. I was hoping for the deleted scene where we get to hear Chaucer's speech before the Prince makes his entrance. . . drat. This is good too though.
By the power vested in me by my father King Edward, and by all the witnesses here, I dub thee...
THE JOKER
Awsome!! movie of Challenge and Hope and of Love.
wow - the best part!!!

"Shut up and behold my sexy, bitches."
Every time I say that, people just throw shit at me.
@xXxPinguxXx1 I think it's music composed for the movie.
Now you know whats up.
i love this music ( 2:24 .. ) does anybody know how its called? or where i can listen to it :)
question? is this the son of Edward, the same son of 'longshanks' in "BRAVEHEART"?
That may be even true. AFAIR they were extras from the country were they filmed and almost none of them spoke English, so they had to be shown what to do when..you also see it in the scene where will fights with hte sort and they don't cheer, only after his freinds started to cheer. that was because they did not know that they were supposed to cheer at that point ;)
Yes.
It is a word! con•tes•ta•tion (ˌkɒn tɛˈsteɪ ʃən)
n.
1. the act of contesting; controversy; dispute.
@Gaaminator we are three weeks later . So how was your performance ? :)
*scene

OMG, they did not listen to JARVIS!
Yup this is me.
0:39 haters gonna hug

No arranged what?
Name of song in background?
ha ha ha no doubt.
@NoobSnoopy Which of these people has an American accent?? Not one!
I wonder who the BLACK PRINCE was really talking about in this movie?
Makes you wonder!!!
"my PERSONA HISTORIANS have personally discovered... he is a decendant from an ancient ROYAL LINE"
He was making it up ( or not, just trust me), but what they put in movies is not what you think.
BEYOND CONTESTATION... no shit? I wonder how he figured that?
If contestation was even a word.
