Brought back so many memories of my 1989 MK2 Fiesta 1.4S. I modified this as much as I could using basic tools, Janspeed manifold & exhaust, Webber performance carb, K&N filter, alloys with 185 tires, lowered, gas shocks, XR2 interior, XR2 spoiler, central locking, electric windows, fog lights, high end alarm, big sound system & a rolling road tune that saw 70Bhp at the wheels. What a fabulous fun car it was, such fun to drive. Even entered in the ‘Cars & car conversations converted car of the year’ competition. I didn’t win but I had such laugh. Thank you for bringing back all these memories 👍🏻.
45 years at life now, not many people I speak to about 1995, keeping the fire burning, September, rollers warehouse, sanctuary, Helter Skelter… queuing for 4 hours, 🎶🎶🥳🥳😂 I’m not sure anyone understands this more than Stu? ❤
my first car - C281SLK, a black one. In my mum's name with me as a named driver at 17 was £1500 in 2003. Had loads more after it when they were nothing to buy and expensive to insure. Don't regret it for a second.
Love this! Never owned one myself. I used to work in a garage doing random chores when i was about 13 / 14. Got a tenner cutting grass etc. One of the lads I got to know who worked there had one of these in blue, slammed, pepper pots, Exhaust (Think it was a cherry bomb) *BIG SUB*... He then started giving me lifts back driving like an absolute tool. *I LOVED IT* About 9 months later he turns up in a Escort RS Turbo Series 1 . My heart went crazy, he again drove it like an absolute tool... One day *I WILL* Get and RS. Fell in love there and then.
Had Mercury Grey F Reg XR2 back in 1989, my first "sporty" car. Kept it 3 years and absolutely loved it. If I had loads of money and a 6 car garage, I'd buy one again straight away.
Its an 80s car not 90s. Made from 83 to 89 . love it, i had a mint mk1 xr2 back in 89. loved that car. Nice to see another one saved from the scrapyard...nice work
Haha i had a White 1.1 mk2 fiesta white (C93EKE) with pepperpots/6x9's as my first car. Remember doing a hand brake turn then trying to drive off with the handbrake still up 😅 Did lose my V plates in the bk tho. Lusted after a red mk2 xr2 but ended up getting a mk3 xr2i after seeing rotting xr2's. Those Recaros in the Xr2i were amazing. Great times.
First car I ever bought. Cost me just under £1600 back in the 90's. Sills were all rusted and brakes weren't working properly but my old man was handy with tools so we fixed it up. Used to have to hit the starter motor with a hammer to get it started sometimes and the exhaust fell off once but apart from that it was ok :)
My uncle used to have one of these in black, was a sweet little car. Oddly enough it only came out in good weather and the sapphire cosworth was the daily 😅
What a stunner, the XR2, Escort Mk3 XR3I and Mk4 RS Turbo were the ones I used to drool over in the 90's. I had a MK3 Escort 1.3L with XR3I wheels and body kit as my first car, got it after saving up £700 during the first year of my first job aged 18. Amazing times and seeing this beauty brings it all back, thank you!
loved my XR2 - had the very last of the mk2s 1989 reg- In radiant red (most were Rosso Red)- which was a rare colour and it was colour coded with rs alloys. I was about 3 months from paying it off in 1994 when a drunk driver in a xr2 wrote it off! - Often wondered what that car would be worth now. Good times
I was 16 years old in 1988. My older brother had a Black XR2. I loved it and still to this day I wish he never sold it. Even now I'd still love one even over the grey XR2i that I had in the 90's. There's something about a MK2 XR2. Just love them. Wish there make them again like they make the Mk1 Escort MST there a fantastic car. Love them too 😊
Brings back some memories of my old used Fords. Namely my mk4 van which came complete with papier machè front arches. That one actually blew up on the way back from the garage I bought it from, but after the dealer finally agreed to replace the engine still went on to corrode its way to rear doors with no bottoms and several more breakdowns, before finally being knicked and burnt out by somebody who obviously wanted to do me a favour! 🫡 And then there was my mk3 Escort ghia that was actually mint until some scrotes knicked my rear shelf out of it, [complete with my one week old Goodmans 6x9's!] by bending the top of the drivers door out so they could reach in to pop the button. Ahhhh the good old days, before DPF's, cat's and reinforced A pillars ruined the used ICE market! 😂
Mint little motor. I remember when these came out. We couldn't afford the insurance lol. It makes a change to see something original and standard like this. Credit to the owner 👍
Had 2 of these. White colour coded was my first car. Lowered it on Pi springs (60mm), K&N bolt on filter, Janspeed exhaust, Clio back wiper, RS seven spoke alloys. Later on it got a Kent cam and Janspeed manifold. 2nd car was Blue. Did the same mods minus the Cam and ended up spraying it Purple. Cracking little cars !!!!!
Ah memories..owned a rosso red xr2 on an "e" plate many moons ago...... was a quick little car for its time...had twin 40 carbs and a high lift cam..no issues at all ..many many races in that but one that springs to mind was against a Capri 2.8i and a mk2 rs2000....good times...🙏
Aww man, nostagia overload🤘had a white one back in ‘98 C535ESU. Must be in someones shed somewhere as its still SORN’d. slow as shit and the rattles from the interior were mental but loved that car😎
please keep these nostalgic ones coming ,,, they are fantastic and bring back all my amazing memories ,,, i remember these changing hands for as low as £50 back when i was 17 ! always loved the look of them and remember people putting cherry bombs on them 😂 would sound awesome

Awesome cars, I’m a 1984 child, so unfortunately I was too young to have one, and then when I was old enough to drive, I couldn’t afford to buy or run one. Been in one a lot as a child though, my sisters boyfriend used to be a Ford nut, and good with a spanner(that was lucky then)😂 I had a red D plate 957cc popular plus, bit of rust starting on the rear arches, 4 speed box, and the thing I remember most about it, it was so slow 😂 it was my first car though, and got me on the road, and to and from work without freezing my ass off and getting soaked on my scooter 😂😁 Lucky you weren’t the owner back in 2020, that was an expensive MOT year for it 😮
Miss my XR2, great fun to drive, sadly failed MOT epically with rust under the plastic arches/skirts. Bought an XR2i as replacement but it wasn't the same.
The XR2 was outside my price range back in the nineties. I knew a couple of people who worked for the same company as me that had them. Both managed to write them off. I suspect that happened to a lot of XR2’s and they are pretty rare now.
Thanks Stu this brought back some lovely memories. I had an 89 xr2 in 1992 and stuck a garret turbo on it, boy that was one nippy little xr2. Cheers Stu 👍

Depending on the year I would say a lot less than 7500. I remember dads brand new Y reg Granada 2.3Lx was around 7800. Back in 83. Mums 1.1L fiesta must have been around 4800. So at a max in 83 I'd put it at 6000.But I'm old and my memory is crap.

Exactly that
Yes!!! Sparkrite! I'd forgotten Sparkrite! Freshly ear traumatised I feel again now! 😂
Changed a clutch on one of these without having to pull gearbox right out, just pulled it back enough to get in, quickest clutch change ever.
