- In just under 48 hours our new Sukup Grain Bin is up. Unfortunately we've got some rotten wet corn plugged up in the gates way up top in the grain leg. 2200 miles in 7 days for myself to attend multiple speaking events and Husker Harvest Fest all while throwing in a little racing into the mix. Harvest is looking to be at least 2 weeks behind this fall because of the late spring and moist growing season.

Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

I'm a small farmer from Pakistan, i really enjoy watching different technologies in your videos, we are so far from these technologies, i hope one day I'll step up my farming.
much love from Pakistan ✌️
I built a few of these on Michigan one summer for my grandfather. Hot ass work and man the steel bet heavier as it goes up.
I'm glad I put up my 3 12,000 bins...its so nice not having to move every 4th truck..better not snow !!!!! I put the 60 watt corncob lights in the shop..major improvement
Each new video you add seems to elevate my level of respect for all farmers throughout this country....there is ALWAYS something needing attention on the farm...whether weather related or equipment related not to mention time with the family that is so precious.....farming is not for the weak at heart...thanks Zach..!!!
Thanks Zach best of luck this fall and glad the led light bulbs are working out. Happy to help you guys out!
Thanks Lance!
Lance do you have a better solution to tube lights? We have a ton of them in our shop and they’re hit or miss if they will turn on or not and it drives us nuts..
@@ryanconrad1516 Hey Ryan, sorry for my delay. We have a few tube light options. You can actually use an LED tube light now that omits the ballast. It will cut your wattage in half and will be much brighter. Just takes a little rewiring but then you would have a 5 year warranty on lamps and much better lighting.
Becky should be seen more, Millennial Farm Wife. But her day is likely way more busy than we know. Much respect from Canada.

Wow what a week. That is Pre harvest training so when it starts you are on your game. Go Get Emmm.
When i was a teenager i helped out the elevator in Johnson, Mn. building grain bins during the summer. Hot, noisy job.
I like your dog chasing thunder. He scoots along pretty well !
Cold and wet is NOT a problem we have been having here in Indiana! Thanks for all the hard work ya'll put into your content.
Wow, the acoustics in that bin!! I witnessed many a gopher in that region...
A dog that chases thunder that's a first for me lol awesome
Hey thanks for coming to Nebraska. Hope you enjoyed your visit. Yes up around the platte river alot of very good corn can be grown. From what I have heard if the corn yields an average of 225bu/acre. Its considered a bad year.
I work at a sand mine. We get similar issues when it gets wet and plugs everything up. I had little clean out doors installed every 15 feet on the pipe. Makes a HUGE difference unçlogging the pipe 👍🏼
Demo hammer for the grain pipe. Weld a curved plate of the same outside radius as the pipe to a shank that will go in the demo hammer. Rip on it until it opens up. Train hoppers use an air powered vibratory device for the same effect. Or maybe a 100ft power drain opener?
Love the CORNHUSKER state. GBR.
Good to have a video. Thanks for the time. Glad you and the family got away for a break.
Thanks Zack... cant wait for the harvest!
Keep doin' what you do, young man! The world needs food.
You deserve to be a multi millionaire.
Dog looks like he is moving great from the accident! Glad to see
Glad to see you hopping around, started to get a bit worried. Bummer that the pipes are blocked ... 😒 ... the late harvest is also a item, sure hope it will go smoothly.
Down here in Ky it has been in the mid to upper 90's now for the last month. Haven't had any rain in almost 6 weeks. Sooooo ready for some of the cool weather along with some rain.
Putting up grain bins will make you hear the sounds of impact wrenches in your sleep for a few days...been there...lol
Can't wait for the harvest to start. Maybe the warmer weather we're getting this week in MN will help move things along.
You sure put on the miles. Hope the harvest goes well for you.
Some assembly required. Results may vary.
Glad to see you made it to my area of the world. You were only about 30 miles from me when you at Husker Harvest Days, Glad you had a good time; And good weather. Must have been here before the rain came.
Heck yeah Onnyx (sorry if I misspelled his name) has his own small dirt track car?! Good for him, learning how to be as cool as his father from a young age. Keep up the great content!
That Moline is great!
I am from Nebraska. I wanted to go to to the event but I had school and could not make it. Hope to see you there possibly someday in the future.
Cool
I actually work for Sukup. I make the rings for the roof and the inside of the bin. I also bend the brackets that hold most of it together.
Wow...what a crazy week/schedule...Love your channel and videos....well done!
well this video takes on a new meaning in may 2022. keep on farming. thank you.
amazing to see how they put up a grain bin from the top down.love y'alls videos.
Thank you for sharing how they built the silo/bin I often wondered how they built them, I thought it was by crane but this is so much more intresting thanks
How many farmers does it take to change a light bulb.
Two: one to drive the tractor and the other to ride in the loader bucket.
Standard farming practice. Combine cabs work too.
Well, if it was LED first place, wouldn't have to change them unless it failed. 🤣
Unless you're a potato farmer, then you just use a remote controlled piler. >.
Air powered vibrators on the plugged grain chute. Placed at strategic intervals. Air supply and valves with airline. Strap vibrators to chute.
A lot easier than swinging a hammer.
Glad to see you love the Green & Gold also!
Go Zach Go!
I relies I am way late ,, But if you used a hole saw 2 inch dia ,, and a K 60 auger machine with cleaning snake , to auger out the grain, then covered the hole after with a patch riveted on or used rubber fernco with band straps ,,, NO CRANE NEEDED ,,, you can rent the K 60 from a tool rental and fernco s are available at a plumbing supply ... Best Regards J
well at least you got rain . we had no rain from 17.07.2019 to date .
Good to hear you sold your horizontal tillage machine always nice when things can find use elsewhere rather than sit and rust out also nicer on the wallet
Love that dog! Thanks for sharing
I was surprise just how fast that bin went up that was quick I do like videos keep up the good work
Clog: CALL ROTO-ROOTER . You need a heavy duty plumber's tape that they use to open clogs. One of mine has roller wheels and it can be ramme and pushe thru a clog. It is a 150' steel tape 1" x 5/32" or so.
Finally a new video, I love watching you Americans, it's amazing.
We done started harvesting here in Kentucky
Farming is easy! Everything always works perfectly and efficiently. Haha.
We built a bin too. First we had to take it down and transport it 1100 miles. It took three of us a week to build including site prep and concrete. I like the way you did it but it’s hard to beat a buck a bushel for good aerated storage.
That was one hell of a week , its good your a young man cause that week would have killed me.
You are a Trooper!
Omg I loved how you ended the first day open the door flap on the bed lights out!!! That is so me ;-) edit I had to say it took bro an I a "week" to put a bin like that up.. but was only 2 of us ..
That's very cool been around bins for years and never seen one go up
Osha had 911 on speed-dial,they were having a heart attack because Zach was riding around in a front end loader.HAHA!!.Nice video Zach.😎👍
Good to watch one of your videos again
flexing on Welker!
Man I live like an hour east of grand forks! Minnesota born and raised.
I get to see another grain bin built. Brian's Farming Videos just completed the same job so I'll get to compare the two processes.
You light my day up
Around the world and back in one video. Even had time for some dirt track action. We needed to see a little of that. The car on the trailer just wasn't enough.
About a hundred miles North of you as the crow flys...enjoy are 3 days of warm weather this week it's suppose to rain and cool down by Friday....And the grain dryers will be roaring this fall, glad we contracted a extra transport of propane for Nov delivery in July.
great to see ya again
Life is nonstop. You are a busy man. Make sure you wear them flip flops in the motel showers. There's fungi amungi! Even in the nicer ones. Your wife and kids for that matter will be saying, "Zach, your feet stink" Just some advice from a traveling man.
WOW I am wearing the same shirt as your dad.
I can't even imagine cleaning out the pipes on your leg......I complain about cleaning my gutters 😂😂😂
Phew, I thought you were never coming back. Thought maybe the welkers had buried you under one of those tarps! Or Brian had you in the concrete ramps. :-)
Too funny
The Walkers might of run him over with a red tractor
We use our loader tractor for a sky lift too. Skid loaders are nice.but a tractor with a loader is always good to have around
Out here in NY, crops are way behind too. Got a ton of rain early in the spring.
Hi Zach any chance you can make a video now that your Dad has moved off the farm and is retiring and how that effects the way you will run the farm? i know many farms face this? thx for your time and educational videos.
Good job, Ben Johnson.
Wait, that doesn't sound right.
Cut! Becky likes Zach.
SKOL
Maybe Ben is his real name and Zach is just the name of the character he plays as the Millenial Farmer.
No Ben Johnson is his real name.. He uses Zach Johnson when he plays the millennial farmer! 😂
Ben Johnson has a fast Subaru and is also from MN.
Welcome back,we have missed you!
That’s why we are called the cornhuskes! Wish i would have known you were coming by kearney twice! I have some family friends with over 2,000 acres of alfalfa and about 500 of corn. Would have been cool to show you around!
Thanks for the video. Hope you filmed getting the grain unstuck.
I was really hoping for you to sing an acoustic solo in the grain bin...
I second this..
Cole you should really start asking the CELEBRITY FARMER for his hand me downs.
Zach changes equipment like we change our underwear. 😭
There's no grain in it yet...
Grandad use to ask "can you sing solo"
"So Low we can't hear you".
Or can you sing far far away.
He will sing on a rainy day
yep we're in the same boat with harvest
Thanks for letting me.
More racing video! I used to dirt track it too. And I put ufo led lights in my barn there blindingly awesome.
Good job on the overloaded circuit.
Very cool watching the assembly process of the grain bin. I can see the financial advantage to using the jacking method over hiring a crane. Guessing getting a crane into a confined area along with placing the pieces amongst other grain bins can be a challenge.
I enjoy your videos thanks. I am thinking, can I remember back all those years ago when I was your age and busy like you? ya I can! and do I miss it? your dam right I do!!!!!!!!!!!!
You should come to my high school and speak! That would be awesome!
Thanks for supporting Iowa State Cyclones
All that rain coming down we're here Kentucky you could use it ain't nowhere drier than a popcorn fart you walk across the grass and it crunches so send that rain down here for sure
Down in TN we are already getting beans and corn up.
I always got stuck changing the bulbs in the bucket as well.
I wish they would have shown us how they jacked up the bin as they were assembling it.
When are you going to kick into high gear? LOL
Great video and you are a busy, busy guy. I like Ila's glasses.
So fun to watch need safety glasses man I’m still laughing 😆 thanks for taking us along on your trips
I hope Diggs never catches that Thunder!! That was hilarious.
a video from zach sweet jesus,,, now we are on to corn and bean harvest
one of are coops just put up another 900ths bu bin,leg and tower dryer know he have around 4 million bu storage withen 10 miles of my farm
Sukup definitely had some product placement in this video
Well that was an action packed video. Your Minnesota Twins took 2 out of 3 in Cleveland this past weekend. Looks like the Twins will be the American League Central champs. Hope my Indians can get a wildcard berth, but they need to start hitting better.
It's about time the Twins get it together again! This year has been awesome
5:47 I see you're still killing batteries. lol Keep up the awesome vids
Damn... that went up alot faster than Brown's
Thanks nice bin
Saw you at HHD in Nebraska. Didn't stop because wife and daughter we're cranky. Also you were busy with actual farmers. You really liked the gravity irrigation. Used to be a large pain in the @@@. We'll keep up the good work at relating agriculture to the uninformed public. I worked 25 years in animal agriculture. Public perception is everything. First you had to uneducate before you could educate. You are doing a really good job. Go Huskers.
Thank you!
wow finally a new video i have been waiting for ever!!! lol
So the hotel you were in has a good restaurant in it. Also that's the river that flooded and made such a mess of the area south of town. And last but not least next time your are in Columbus you should take a tour at are potatoe plant in Duncan. Harvest is the best time to come out. septemberish. Looks like a little city in the fields. Come check use out. We are CSS Farms Duncan.
