Holy shit dude. That first guy seems like a total tool. I've had that happen to me when I first started getting into the hobby. Had somebody at the LCS (which was a franchise) yell at be from across the room because I was trying to get a closer look at the wall book. (There was an big opening I thought you were allowed to walk through because it wasn't closed off or anything.
Haha I’ve never had anything like that happen to me at a con it was funny
Awesome video. How do you hold your camera? Attached to your backpack?
To be fair, you shouldn't touch wall books without asking first.
You are putting your hands on a man's livelihood. Common ethical standards demand you ask to see the book to whoever is in charge of the booth. It is always very evident as to who it is. Theres is no reason to risk knocking over a whole row of books and potentially costing him thousand in lost value, from you being a cluts. You are dealing with some one else's property. Not yours to fondle without permission. My parents thought me: look, dont touch.
Hey my friend, glad we could make the deal and hook you up with one of your grails. Enjoy the X-men 94!
Oh my gosh you found my channel! Thank you so much man
This video is honest, a lot of fun, and "real." I am glad I found you. Thank you for the tour and for sharing your experience. Since moving to this area from New England, this is a twice a year con held in my new backyard, and I always attend this event. I too agree this is a fantastic laytout and a wonderful overall experience. The owners (Adam and JD) of Big Lick Comics host this event. They are amazing, approachable, professional, guys. They are truly unlike ANY other comic people I have ever dealt with. Their beautiful store is not far from the event center, it is always worth the trip. Plus, they always have fantastic guests, tons of comics dealers, authors, and artists at the show. However, unlike most comic cons held today this event still has a wonderful selection of comics and is not overrun with booths and booths of nonsense for us comic guys. I kind of get why you purchased the Speedy book, but when you walked in I thought to myself if he turns right, boy oh boy is this video going to get fun. Sure enough the moment you started to walk over the "fun" began. This dealer needs to stay away from the public, he really does hover and appear like Copperfield from a trap door or something. Then when he was trying to take your backpack, I thought, well maybe today he gets a slap. Anyhow, I too, with thousands in my pocket have experienced the same nonsene with him. I do not care what he has to offer, not buying, I literally walk past that corner (and, yes, he camps there at every show). Now, Bona Fide, on the other hand, the dealer with the older books and tons of slabs, are amazing to deal with. The owner specifically, the guy on the left in the ball cap always steps up when buying, and his prices are amazing. His inventory, because he moves so many books, is forever changing. Forgive the long comment. PS You have a new subscriber. Salute!
Comments like this are why I do this. Thank you
Great pick ups. That first guy I would have pulled my money out and started counting it in front of him then just walk off
Haha that would have been hilarious
“My IPA habits” BRO that is the BEST way I’ve ever heard the described!!! These con videos rock man, I love watching the wheeling and dealing you do. All I get (am blessed) to do is go around my Austin comic book store that has awesome deals. Never been to a con before and they’re great to see!!
Rock on!
Dude you're a legend! Thanks for sharing the honest descriptive video with us. Cheers!
Any time!
I'd say you sold the Giant-Size X-Men at the right time late last year. Recent GPA for a 3.0 last sold for $1600 this month. But who knew, right?
Great vids my friend, keep it up!
Looking at wall books but it's a well known thing to not touch the wall books.
Haha fair enough. Not even for trades though?
I would have gotten rid of those recent keys asap. What you got in return is great. You did well sir!!!
Great!!! Video, I agree definitely the modern books are getting tough to sell.
Thanks man I’ve watched a few of your live streams
Awesome vid I loved seeing the wheeling and dealing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Right on bro i wish i could see more trading deals on you tube like this one great video hope you do more like this one keep up the great work 👍🏼
Thank you
Great video!!! Loved the content. I went to that Con the other month also. First time going had a great time and will definitely go back. You definitely did great with your deals. 😎
Awesome video bro. I love going to cons and I just don't get have the ability to go like I used to. Your video let me enjoy that "con atmosphere" from home. Well done on those deals. Those are some straight up baller books.
Great video. Always enjoy your content. Just FYI, the gentleman that you sold the GSX #1 to is Marc Nathan. He runs and puts on the Baltimore Comic Con. Good guy. He has a great store, Cards, Comics and Collectibles in Reisterstown, Md. Take care and stay well. Best\Steve
Really great video, sir. I always look for the first hand con experience vids. Amazing, honest stuff. Well done.
Thank you so much
"
"Strange Tales" changed to "Doctor Strange" with issue #169, but 6 years later the title was brought back and restarted with #169, which drives the completest in me crazy! Hey, outstanding video (And outstanding books too!)
Did not know that! I couldn’t understand that numbering at all
Didn’t make the con , but I’m around that area for work a lot and have been in the big lick store. Great deals . Thanks for showing the con
Awesome video, it’s hard cold selling books at a convention. All the dealers act like their shit doesn’t stink. Good job! Great trades. Love the channel.
Everyone was super nice for the most part and I kinda liked being a little salesman
Very cool video ! I’m the owner of the second booth, had no idea you were filming I definitely would’ve chatted a little more! Ended up working out for us both, I picked up a 5.0 for $1700 in December and you made out well with your sale! Hope to see you at the next show!!
Going to a con this weekend, I’m going to try and trade up too. So this video was great timing. Hopefully I’ll do as well as you.
I was the vendor with the woodworking stuff that you passed by a couple times. Kinda cool to see it from this perspective. Glad you had fun! (That guy with the first booth is always like that unfortunately.)
Very cool!
@StickyGoose Comics….. I love how you just go out shopping and hunting for slabbed key issues… I was just telling my friend the other day… this is the new way to collect comics. I see alot of people trading or more like selling the books…going in the way of collecting slabbed stuff… I love your web content…. Love watching your stuff…. I am trying to grow my slab collection as well… this is where it is at. I have cut back tremendously on collecting comics. Just Omnibuses and slabs now….
I like where your heads at
$980 not a good cash price, but to get that for your modern books....You scored big time.
Missed out on that con due to work. Glad to see what it was like, and it looks like you made some good deals.
Bummer man. It was pretty solid
Awesome video dude, you made some good deals there. That X-Men 94 is stunning.
In my opinion that book should have graded higher
Fantastic job on the video. I am doing the exact same thing. Selling newer books to get into a higher grade X-men 94. Going to try taking some books to a con.
Good luck!
Great video; that’s how you wheel and deal! You got a great deal on your GSX1. Vendors don't generally pay close to GPA. Also, where did you get the black frames for your CGC books behind you? They look very nice.
Thank you! Ecc frames tell them I sent you if you buy
@@Stickygoose Will do, thanks.
Bro, that’s was super cool!!
Thanks man I worked really hard on it
Great video, it’s like I was there with you. Thanks.
I have dealt with the first guy before at Pop up comics. He is actually a good guy, I have gotten some good deals from him in the past. He has a bit of an OCD problem but I the type of person not to touch anything when I am a con unless I ask because I don' want to be responsible if something happens.
I got that green lantern book from the older gentleman at that booth he was cool
Newer comics fmv fluctuates more than older age. Reason why buyers are hesitant in buying because on Tuesday they can get it 30% off and sell it on the following Tuesday for more.
Ohhh that Jane foster...I like that book...
Poser collector from Veve here 😂 Really enjoyed the video!
Awesome! Thank you!
I think that’s main difference between cards and comic conventions. Card ones are almost made to trade and sell. Comics not so much. I’ve had dealers tell me they don’t bring in Graded comics because they can always sell them on eBay. Blows my mind.
Yea doesn’t make a lot of sense
nice brother always good stuff very cool.
What a tosser the owner of this comic con is for having a problem with you lol. You gave him great advertisement aswell like. Anyway thanks for another great video stickygoose.
I think that's a 7.0 tbh. I graded my Teen Titans 44 recently and it was a 9.6 (newsstand as well). Your pick ups were awesome dude!
You’re probably right
Great collection
One of my favorite videos
Great video boss! Sick haul!
Appreciate it! Subbed you up great editing on your videos
@@Stickygoose Not necessary but I do appreciate you! Keep up the good work 🤘🏻
You see lots of dealers up for trades in the cards game but not in comics? Why is that? I love trading.
I’m new to trading so I’m not sure. I would assume these guys are just trying to get cash
Good sell off on that giant size considering the book has been selling at $1500-$1800 according to recent sales data, not sure when this was filmed though.
It was the beginning of august
I'd love to get that x 94. I've pick up a couple of the low 100s and a 98 recently. I do all raw myself though. I only have 1 slab.
That first vendor is at a lot of my local shows and cons in NoVA. He’s always acted this way with me, but not with a buddy of mine. I don’t even deal with him anymore. Even if he has good books I pass.
That makes me feel better
The guy that bought the xmen 1 runs through baltimore comic con his comic shop is a great shoo
Really nice guy and a great deal
I brought my wife and kids to this even and they wouldn't let her carry her pocket book in but everybody else could have backpacks and all kinds of stuff.. just strange... I will be going again in January at the next one.
I was worried they were gonna sweat me for that bag but no problems
That’s a great book to have!!
Great video! Did you film with a GoPro or use some sort of holder for your phone to record? Did any dealers confront you about recording, or did you approach them and tell them you were recording? It almost felt as if I was at the con. Really great work trading up to get the X-Men 94.
I use a go pro strapped to my chest I’ve never had any issue with me filming I’m very friendly
@@Stickygoose Thanks for the information and yes, you do seem very friendly. May I grab your backpack without your permission and look at your slabs? 😆
In My Oppinion You Made Out Good Id Keep The Giant Size X-Men 1
I got another copy check out my video coming next week
Great trade for that x-men 94
thanks man I thought so too
🙂Great pickups Goose:-)
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Cool comics
Had raw XMen 94 bought years ago and had it slabbed and came back c g c 8.0.
So was the name of the vendor "pop up comics" in the beginning? Some folks -...
You did good bro!
Yeah, the guy that came over to "straighten up the book" needed to be more approachable. If you do not want people touching, just put up a sign or something. Than if you do, just smile and say, "Sorry, I am really OCD. How can I help you though brother?". That is how it is done.
My man was just too nervous
Is that a big crease on the nightwing book in the lower right corner? Maybe 2 creases? Or is light reflection?
Yea it’s probably closer to a 6 honestly
Really good video dude!
Thank you
I wish you had did a bit more filming of that cosplayer at 11:54. =0) lol
You have got a good eye my friend. I’ve watched this footage I don’t know how many times making it and never saw those bad boys
@@Stickygoose ROFL
Good stuff
Appreciate it
How do you figure X-Men 94 is Wolverine’s 2nd full appearance if Hulk 181 is his 1st full and Giant Size X-Men 1 is his 2nd full? X-Men 94 is his 3rd full appearance.
You are correct I misspoke
@@Stickygoose Hey we all can’t be perfect all the time. I forgive you 🤣
That 1st Asajj has a terrible cover. I would argue if you are talking slabs the cover is king.
Edgy guy at the beginning was a super creep, I guess he got psyched out over the Roanoke locals?
DELMAR TOAD! lol that is the best profile name ever. Oh brother where art tho is one of my favorite movies I quote it all the time. “George, not the livestock…”
@@Stickygoose "I'm not sure that's Pete."
Don’t understand setting up a con and not buying. Best part for vendors
People are broke right now
@@Stickygoose run a sale at your store or do $1 starting bid auctions then. Unless booths are free it’s too expensive to go there just to sell
👽🍻
Strange a lot of dealers said they were not buying 🤔
They got this recession goin on
@@Stickygoose the bigger dealers have enough capital to keep buying, but I do feel that pain as well!
I am thinking of going to this con … it is about 3 hours from me , I am only looking for comics , no cosplay , artists etc. is it worth the drive just for comics. Is it really a comic con or more pop culture. Thanks
I wouldnt recommend going
Please tell me you have another copy of GS X-Men 1? Please tell me that was not your only copy?
It was at the time but I got that 5.5 copy in my other video
@@Stickygoose So did you get another replacement copy? That's one book you should always have in your collection. If fans think that book is expensive now, wait until Marvel announces the X-Men movie. Game over.
I have the X-Men big size not clean and press graded out of seven make me an offer I’m trying to get rid of
modern to most people seems like a bad investment the market can fall a lot easier because of quantity, where as silver and golden is always a safe investment as someone who is a collector not really an investment guy I still stay away from most modern graded unless its Personal collection, I can't justify putting much money in a book that is less than 10 years old with a high census count because what if there's a warehouse of invincible #1 and suddenly 10,000 copies hit the market. most people aren't willing to take the risk, also people think it could be a fad hasn't had time to mature and be seen as a long term investment so give it another 20 years and that book will be looked at as a better investment.
Do you have the issue where Superman first died? Walked into a room full of gold kryptonite. What about when Juggernaut got knocked out by Colossus? 🍺😁
I’m not sure would have to have issue numbers
@@Stickygoose I’ll dig em out after dinner. When Juggernaut woke up, he was over 2 stories tall & freaked the frag out lol
@@Stickygoose The Uncanny X-Men No.322. Not an expensive book, good story though, “who stopped Juggernaut”? The Superman issue I can’t find atm, two other boxes to check.
@@Stickygoose can’t find the Superman issue, was a while back. The “suicide”, is up for debate because when they went into the room of gold kryptonite behind Superman, they found a super baby.
Where do you get the black holders for slabs
Ecc frames.com
You like the Dave Cockrum Legion of superheroes, not the true X-men.
Wolverine is just a Timberwolf rip-off.
I’ve been living a lie
@@Stickygoose it amazing what they can get away with in comics and make alot of money doing it.
"My IPA habits" lol - is that your wife's term or yours
Definitely mine
was this the "sale" that got u banned from all the vendors?
Yes
How many actual comic book dealers were there Thanks
not enough for 3 hour drive
@@Stickygoose thanks
Why would a dealer pay more than retail on a Giant Size X-men or anything else for that matter. Standard is 50% on the dollar or a little more if a very desired book. Not buying your video.
Haha you think I’m liar?
@@Stickygoose Yes. GPA pricing suggests you like to tell stories.
Wait until you see my next video your gonna think I’m Pinocchio
@@Stickygoose I have no doubt.
I have grade 7
Always complaining
Feeling entitled
Stop watching lol
Slabs aren't comics. Congrats on ruining comics.
Thank you! I will keep doing my best!
Do these people know that they were filmed? If not, this is creepy and wrong.
Thanks for watching can I film you?
