The numbers of channel cats and smallmouth bass that "harass" me while I'm slip corking crappie near the bank, from the bank, during the spawn are just astounding. You and Momma Sue continue to be blessed, Richard.
Two days ago, I was using a 3" Gulp artificial leech on a tiny hook with a panfish rod and 4-lb line...trying to lure some big bluegills. I dangled that leech in front of a big channel cat. It turned and snatched that thing up and took off! My first words were "Uh-oh! That is a big catfish!" Loosening the drag, and taking my time (like RGTFM), I landed it. Took a full 10 minutes. She was 24" long and had to be pushing 4-5 lbs. Talk about adrillagen! WOO!
@redtobertshateshandles Believe me it's not, A lot has to do with the part of the country you're from. Around here (Alabama) it once was common, Not a lot of people does it anymore.
I used to dig for worms. As I've gotten older it's alittle tough to do. Lifting heavy objects and spray area with water and wait 5 to 7 minutes for worms to fish. Now the night before during spring and summer the night before I fish I stop and buy worms. I put them in the fridge then use them the next day to fish.
Richard Gene, the kitty killin machine !!! Bless you, Richard, for all the knowledge you share with us. Love your video. God bless y'all and stay safe out on the water.
Thank you very much you are a blessing to him like his daddy he enjoys doing what he does for people. His Daddy loved to fish too.And enjoyed talking with folks.
I'm so glad I found your videos. You make your audience feel like they're family, and you explain things so nice for those of us who didn't have folks to teach us how to fish!
Great location. It don't hurt having that grain barge terminal just across the river. Channel cats love soured grain in the water. Good show. Thanks for sharing.
@MikeHunt-sm5gk no, no I don't mean adrenaline. If you watch Richard's videos he refers to adrenaline as adrilogen. It's one of his many rhetorical devices that make up his character.
Richard Gene I get so tickled watching your videos, mainly because the sport of fishing truly excites you the way it does me. Your enthusiasm is so contagious I hope people that have never been fishing or don’t fish much gets the fever when they watch you having a blast looking for and catching fish and you are right there is nothing else like it. Tight lines brother.WOO
A Berkeley choppo or kvd splash is great in prespawn to catch fish. A float or a float and chunk or minnow in prespawn also is good. In deeper water 18 to 20 inch leader. Shallow water 14 to 16 inch leader works. 😊
I caught 15 channel cats from High Rock Lake in NC Sunday evening. I caught them using a fly rod fishing a small crappie jig streamer about 4 feet deep under a foam strike indicator. Loads of fun. Thanks for sharing Richard Gene.
I have learned so much from watching your videos! Maybe I'll stumble upon you one day and you can give me some personal pointers. Very informative and funny to watch. Wooo!
I was catching catfish earlier this week on live Maybeetles Richard!!! It was at a Tennessee state park and was a fun battle with those catfish for sure 👍
Mr. Gene, I sincerely thank you for your videos. I am currently in a brutal battle with P.T.S.D. that I can not honestly say that I am winning. This video was perfectly timed to give a pretty shattered mind a few moments of peace. Today Sir, rest assured that you have made a difference in another man's meager life.
Mother nature works in mysterious ways, I have a rain gutter if that's what you call it in front of my garage to move the water to the side of the house so it doesn't run into the garage when it rains and once a month I clean that out and can I can fill up a Walmart tub of worms from it. 👍
Fichard Gene, Thank you for allowing me to me along with you. You are the best. You mentioned you lived in Fl. at sometime. Whwere di you live? God bless you and Momma Sue..
Fished this way for kitty's along rocky banks by our lock and dam in June when they were spawning it's a blast. But usually if that bobber goes under and you don't set the hook right away cuz you have too much slack or whatever....you will miss them
I love skip corking for catfish, crappie, bream and shellcracker. For catfish I like to drift the boat in about 5to 7 foot flats and fish close or drag it on the bottom. A lot of muscles in the area l like to fish. I fish at lake Eufaula. Catfish starts biting really good this time of the year
Dang Richard, I was fixin to go to bed but I had to watch this video. Well, as soon as I saw that first cat, my tummy started growlin and my mouth was waterin...I could just taste it, all golden and deep fried. Gonna have a hard time sleepin now! 🎣
Been fishing very similar for channels on the Mississippi. We must have a lot more current up here, because we have to put a least 2 big split shots on or else the bait will float up to far. Been thinking about getting out there this week. Been enjoying it for about 40 some years now.
Your comment about Shimano products couldn't be more. truthful. I bought a Shimano rod and reel combo on clearance from Walmart three years ago for crappie - it worked great. I switched it over to a bass reel and paired it with a stiffer rod I brought on clearance at Academy sports for $10. This spring I have caught at least 10 bass 4lbs. and over from the bank just beyond a line of weeds that run parallel to the bank and the drag on that reel is super smooth and is truly impressive for such an inexpensive price. The reel is a FX 2500HG. Thank you for the great videos and glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ through your videos in His great creation. God bless you and your family. Woooo!
The majority of my reels are Shimano then Diawa an I wouldn't go any less on the totem pole than a Shimano Syncopate. The IX an FX are lower models than Syncopate. I have 6-8? Syncopates for my panfish/Crappie setups and just got a Catana FE which is a few $ less than a Syncopate but seems like a pretty good reel if it isn't a tad smoother but then it's built different with a newer design.
During the times the channel cats seem to be biting slowly or not as aggressive as normal try this little trick along with your normal slip cork set up. With a clean hook worm on a single mini white marshmallow. Bring it past the hook to just above the eye of the hook over the knot on the hook and line. Next apply your worm or bait of choice as usual. The marshmallow not only adds a curiosity alerting sweetness to the water but also gives a little different visual presentation. There are times when this one little add on takes things from a slow nibbling day to an all out feeding frenzy. Hope you have a successful try on this and as always good luck and God bless...
Up here in Louisville Kentucky we have green worms by the river cat fish loves them that musky smell you’re right about that they leave is sticky filling on your fingers and that Roma knock you down
🤓☕️♥️🙏 I love your videos. I watch them every night and I've been fishing more using your tips and been catching more fish and I usually do so please keep Em up. Keep on come if my Arthritis don't kill me a fishing. I'll be all right.
Richard, I was watching Fishin N Stuff and he showed why we loose large fish when the hook breaks. He dipped his pillars in rubber like so the pillars don't cause a grouch in the hook.
This is what I needed to see to know I have a chance with smaller circle hooks. I swear, all the catfish advice I read says use a 5/0 or no smaller than a 3/0 circle hook, and I have never been able to make that work for channel catfish on lakes, ever! I think they all assume that I am trying to catch some 50-pounder out in the middle of the Mississippi River or something, and I am nowhere near there. I will pick up some 1/0 hooks today and do my best. Out here in California, I will still be using nightcrawlers, or sometimes I see blood worms in the bait shops...
I live in north Alabama and tried the worm fiddling method in a very similar looking spot today and it didnt seem to work do you have any advice on what I might be doing wrong?
When I was a kid we would take two metal rods and take an electric cord and strip the plastic sheath off on and wrap it around 1 wire to each end of a rod. Then early in the morning or after the sprinklers ran shove the rods in the ground about 2 feet apart and plug the cord in an outlet. The worms would come out really fast just be careful but picking them up otherwise you're going to get sapped ⚡😂
The numbers of channel cats and smallmouth bass that "harass" me while I'm slip corking crappie near the bank, from the bank, during the spawn are just astounding.
You and Momma Sue continue to be blessed, Richard.
Nothing wrong with catching smallies or catfish 😊

Mr Gene never lets us down on some great quality videos. His energy is awesome. Whooooooooo!
Fish fear him
Women can’t resist him.
Babies love him.
Bobby garland wants to be him
Momma Sue kisses him
The crappie are always near him
😂Love it, I fiddled some worms yesterday. Not many people does it anymore 😂
Seems like b.s.
But what do I know.
@redtobertshateshandles Believe me it's not, A lot has to do with the part of the country you're from. Around here (Alabama) it once was common, Not a lot of people does it anymore.

Thanks for the tips 🧨🧨🧨🧨🧨
Great location. It don't hurt having that grain barge terminal just across the river. Channel cats love soured grain in the water. Good show. Thanks for sharing.
Just as I was about to search for catfishin setups, woo hoo, thank you!!
It just occured to me that people who dont know you that see you out on the boat when the adrilogen kicks in probably thinks you're stone cold crazy.
@MikeHunt-sm5gk no, no I don't mean adrenaline. If you watch Richard's videos he refers to adrenaline as adrilogen. It's one of his many rhetorical devices that make up his character.
They fiddle up really well when it's raining, great video
Hey MR.Richard you are the man when it comes the fishing no matter the species love your channel God Bless

My absolute favorite rig for both shellcracker and big bullhead catfish.

Mr. Gene, I sincerely thank you for your videos. I am currently in a brutal battle with P.T.S.D. that I can not honestly say that I am winning. Hi Mr. Richard. Thank you for another great teaching video. God bless.
Pappy gene got more energy than a 5 year old when that adrenaline hits 😂
Made me think "a 5 year old at bedtime"

I knew you could fish Richard, but didn’t know you had such a beautiful voice! lol Love your videos, thanks!
I don't think we've ever seen RichardGene catch a bullhead. I know darn well if they're in north AL RichardGene knows how to catch them.
Love the fishing machine’s energy ever video!
RG, I really enjoy your videos and your teaching of fishing. I think I miss the line weight and type of your setup. Can you share? Thank you sir!!

Up here in Louisville Kentucky we have green worms by the river cat fish loves them that musky smell you’re right about that they leave is sticky filling on your fingers and that Roma knock you down
Great video man we love you keep the videos coming
Lol😂 I did that exact thing yesterday at lake verrette in pierreport Louisiana. We caught 32 in about 2 hours using slip corks and nightcrawlers
I love this kind of fishing. Great video as always. Makes me want to go fishing.
Excellent information! Great job! Thank you Richard!
Richard, your going to have to get an ECO Dip Net for those Channel Cats. They extended out a long way.
They are Great as I have one.
Love the vids rich. You never fail to make me laugh.

🤓☕️♥️🙏 I love your videos. I watch them every night and I've been fishing more using your tips and been catching more fish and I usually do so please keep Em up. Keep on come if my Arthritis don't kill me a fishing. I'll be all right.

Richard Gene is the Chuck Norris of the fishing world.
Richard how dare you make them catfish hormones rage! God Bless!
Richard, I was watching Fishin N Stuff and he showed why we loose large fish when the hook breaks. He dipped his pillars in rubber like so the pillars don't cause a grouch in the hook.
“Not quite as bad as a poot” I spit my food out
Great video bro. Those were some nice channel cats!
Richard: what is the make, model and size of your camo boat in this video? Thanks.
Thanks for another great video!
Love the info brother.
Do catfish get your adrilagen pumping? Bream and crappie sure seem to.

Mr, Gene let's go FISHING!
I will fly in from Texas to fish with you.
I cover all cost once we decide where to go!
THANKS!
RGTFM, when you said look there, a snake. I forgot everything you said about the docks!
🏃🏿♂️...
Just curious what bait do y'all use for big ol catfish I'm talking big ones like the 20lbs +?
I live in north Alabama and tried the worm fiddling method in a very similar looking spot today and it didnt seem to work do you have any advice on what I might be doing wrong?
love that richard
Hes the best! Ever
“It’s not quite as bad as a poot” 😂😂
I'm talkin about woo!!!
Adriligen, woooooo. Elmo said to use a nose hair dry fly tipped with a fiddle worm.
Woo I mean woo!
I’m # 1 to say good morning !
Do you have or have a lot of bullhead catfish? I fish lake whyle in North Carolina, and they will terrorize your baits like that.
When I was a kid we would take two metal rods and take an electric cord and strip the plastic sheath off on and wrap it around 1 wire to each end of a rod. Then early in the morning or after the sprinklers ran shove the rods in the ground about 2 feet apart and plug the cord in an outlet. Catfish love to eat tuffie minnows when you are crappie fishing too, I went crappie fishing and ended up catching 34 channel cats instead.
YOU get the best comments….I can’t compete.
For the Algorithm…. Huzzah 🙌
Fish on baby👍
Float fishing is the second most exciting way to fish, just behind topwater frog or popper.
Just good old school fishing. nothing fancy. No live scope .the mean machine
