You made it look pretty simple so I took a shot and ordered the Viking part on Amazon for $64. I successfully did this all by myself! The appliance repair guy I called wanted $375 - not sure if this was influenced by the fact that I’m a woman, but it seemed like a lot for the job you showed. I also did not want to invest that amount in a 10 year old dishwasher. I figured it was worth a $64 gamble and it paid off! I should mention that I was a bit lucky that I correctly diagnosed the problem by myself based on how the machine was malfunctioning. Also, I did not replace the plastic start button, just the starter switch. On my unit, all the screwheads were T-15, but there were three different lengths. I made sure to draw a little diagram as I took it apart to track which screws went where. More than the cost savings, the satisfaction of doing it myself is priceless. My husband is a tough customer, but even he was impressed. Thank you for posting this video!

thanks! this video confirmed my suspicions of what was going on with my switch. i moved my switch assembly external from the door to use the dishwasher while waiting for the replacement part to ship and it seems to be running just fine.
Hi Christian, I have a Viking dishwasher model # dfud042. Can you please help telling me how to remove the old main push power switch from the plug? Thank you.
Nice video. I would suggest that you show why you replaced the start button. Unless the plastic tabs are broken, there is no reason to buy a separate part ($30). Also, it would be nice to have diagnosed the unit as in your title. How did you know it was the start switch and not the circuit board. Why did you not demonstrate the unit at the end?

Excellent video! Do you have a How-To to service the Power-On LED on the bottom of the door? Mine no longer illuminates when the dishwasher is running. Viking model VDWU524SS.

I live in Los Angeles. Could you please give me a ballpark estimate on how much this repair should cost?
