That was an awesome video. Heaven on a beach. I think I got some of those beautiful shells. My first shell box.. I had lots of fun going through the box.. Thank you.
So many beach treasures! Thank you for the beach walk and sharing your experiences with us! Love the Treasure Boxes! They seem larger or full of more goodies! Thank you so much for sharing!
This video was totally awesome hun. The colors of the clams to the beautuful lightning welks. The crab shells are so pretty with the different patterns. I wish I could become a member funds are tight at the moment. Thanks for the beach walk Thanks fir sharing. Stay safe you and Barry and your speckled baby. Xo
When I was a girl, many decades ago, I got the chance to go to Sanibel for a little while. I was amazed at all the shells and I had several in my rucksack when I got the call to go. I ran to a shell pile, opened the rucksack and scooped all the shells I could into the sack. It weighed a lot, but when I got home, I had a really good time sorting the shells. I made all sorts of crafts for months to come. Thanks for the memory, Laura!
What a fantastic shelling video! So many shells and rack lines to follow! What an exciting shelling day! How I wish I could find shell piles like these on a beach near me! It's just so enjoyable seeing such a huge variety of things! I really love the sea whips and sea trees; and crab backs, and joined bivalves too! Thanks for sharing such a wonderful day with us. All the best! Keep safe! Warmest Regards from Sharon in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. xo xo
Hello!!! can't wait to watch you in action again - my escape from the reality of living inland..... Wow - what a beach FULL of beautiful shells - couldn't believe how many paper figs were in perfect shape. I thought they were more fragile. Thank you once again for sharing the beauties of the beach with us. {{shell hugs}} (if I were a shell I would be a heart cockle - they just look like a hug!)
Awwww thanks for your sweet comment. Yes paper dogs are fragile and it’s always a treat to find them undamaged! I agree with you about cockles, they totally look like a hug! Happy shelling, Lisa!
Hey Laura! Well I just came back from Sanibel and for the short time I was there I had a great experience. I finally visited Bowman's Beach and collected all kinds of shells like in this video. I also found an operculum at Lighthouse. Very very excited. I also collected beach trash. Ugh no offense I do not understand how some people are leaving things behind and some of it just gross. PSA: Everyone take care of the beach! And fill in the holes you make ! Rant over. But yes just thrilled to be at Sanibel. I also found a piece of pottery or ceramic that had clearly washed up. It was light blue with raised writing. I did not keep it. Sea whips are cute , Laura. Keep these videos coming..they are great.
Yay I’m so glad you had such a fun trip and found such amazing treasures! 👏🏻👏🏻 I’m proud of you for learning so much and being able to identify so many fun beach finds! Thanks for doing your part to keep our beaches clean. 👌🏻 Have fun with all your shells and memories from your trip!
I enjoy shelling with you each week. My favorite mail is my shell mail with the beach treasures you send. My happy gift For myself each month. How do you display your beach treasures? I would love some ideas. My family vacation this year is Panama City Beach in October will definitely have to add a shell bag to my treasure box soon
I’m so glad you love your boxes, Tammy! I usually display my favorite shells in bowls, and sometimes shells of a like kind in vases. I’ve been meaning to do a video of shell displays but I’ve had a lot going on. I’ll try to put that on my list! I’m excited for your trip to Panama City - you’ll have a great time!!
I love cockle shells, your idea is awesome! Bringing rubber bands to hold them together would work also! I boil the urchins after I scrape the spines off with a stiff brush, helps get rid of the smell!
I don’t like to bring anything to the beach I have to worry about dropping or losing, esp rubber bands, they are horrible for the environment and deadly to sea creatures. So I much prefer just pairing up my cockles when I get home 💗
I think I see a flat at 25:13. I love those shells I finally found 2 of them in April. Cross one off my bucket list. Thanks for sharing your beach walks with us Laura!
The orange at the bottom was a Bay scallop 💗 I love flats too, hard to find them whole but I love picking up the pieces! Thanks for your support, Kellee!
Oh Laura, thank you so much for today's walk. I truly needed it. I've been stuck inside for the last week with a bad sinus infection and a calm walk on the beach, remembering the sea air was exactly what I needed. Such awesome treasures and hearing the sound of you raking through the shells was so soothing...again, thanks! I have decided from now on I am going to go through my shell mail right after I walk the walk with you so I can be surprised by all the treasures "I" find...Lol!
Oh Maggie I hope you’re feeling better! 🙏🏻 I’m glad I can bring a little bit of the beach to you! Hope you love your shells this month! I appreciate your support, happy shelling!
Thanks for sharing! You mentioned that it has been cold and windy, so I'm guessing this was not recorded in June. Could you please include the month/time of year that you are finding all of these treasures? You found some awesome things!
Some of these episodes are replays from the original Virtual Shelling Network platform. I will try to remember to go back and locate the original filming dates if I can!
@@virtualshelling I don't think the exact date is necessary, just an idea of time of year. If I see the video in June, I assume this is what the beaches will look like if I plan a trip in June, when in reality, this was maybe filmed in February and the beaches won't look anything like this in June. Just more perspective on what you find at different times of year for those planning to visit. You always give great information on the shells, maybe more on the experience: where to park, how easy is beach access, best time to go, are there facilities nearby? Nosy tourist information! 😀
The beaches never look the same - they literally can change day to day. What the beach looks like January in 2021 isn’t what it looked like in Jan 2022. You definitely cannot go by that. Which is why I preach that you cannot bank on time of year or month of year for shelling. You just can’t. I’ve seen the beach change from miles of shell piles to nothing in less than 12 hours time. I also don’t provide a ton of info on parking and beach access etc as all that detailed info is readily available on the sanibel website 🙂 I also share it in my Facebook group: Facebook.com/groups/sanibelshellseekers
Hi Laura, I remember this one. There was a HUGE shell wash up like that at Blind Pass in January. When was this one filmed? I'm thinking from all I have seen that winter months are the best unless some freakish storm hits in summer. I loved January because the weather was so comfy and no bugs! Have a wonderful 4th!!!!!
Hi Freda! I need to go back and check dates. This was a rerun from 2020 I believe. I agree with you about the weather but I love summer shelling when the water is warm!
How do I become a fan who gets a shell box? I've been subscribed for a while but I know I would have to get my address to you somehow in order for you to send one. I love watching you walk and search the beaches. I live in upstate New York and I hope to get there someday but I'm not sure it will happen.
All I can say is "Amazing"!!! Thanks for sharing.
Although I usually love your beach walks and your great tips and advice. This day I was dying. One word CONES 😊
Wow, just WOW‼😊

Before I bring anything home, I boil all my shells at least 30 at a hard boil. Wish I was there,I could finally fill my flower bed.

Could just scoop up a couple gallons of those shells and send them to me please? I'm so jealous that you can go thru all those. :)
What is the weird looking shell that looks like abalone but it also looks like a longhorn or something it's very beautiful what is it
You walked by a kitten paw or a lion paw. I know you said you wanted to find one.
How do you clean yourvshtells
