upgrade is definitely the wrong word. I think the better way to see it is to say that he is taking advantage of CF's popularity and the attention it is bringing to OLY lifting. I like to think that he is helping to make CF a better and more respected sport just by being associated with it (at least the OLY lifting part of it). When serious OLY lifters like Klokov take CF seriously, its a little harder to bash on it so much.
If he did it full time, yes. If he uses it for his conditioning work a few times a week no it shouldn't hurt his power production. Most lifters both Oly and Power do some sort of conditioning anyway, it's obviously just not their highest priority.

The actual workout is called DT. It's 5rds 12DL 9hpc 6pj he only did three rds since he's newer to crossfit it's better to err on the safe when introducing people to it. As you can tell 3 rds was enough haha he would be a fuckin machine if he could breathe at all lol
Is cross-fit detrimental to his power? I'm wondering because he is now training his muscle for endurance with significantly lower weight. It might makes him adapt to lower weight. Will he lose some of his power at heavy weight?
I like Klokov and respect him very much,not only here on youtube,but in real life too-through competitions etc... I got to say-your statement is quite obvious. He even wears "paleo" t-shirt,what makes all that a really tragicomic situation. :) If I can add,group behaviour copy USA crossfit events or people,and thats even more tragicomic. He wont be in their machine (should I say their slave),that is great starting point for his seminars in USA,but this will spread that cult out there,too...

what moves are you referring to when you say CF has to make the up... cant be push ups, or pull ups, (even kipping, its a gymnastic move), certainly you arent talking about squatting, cleans, snatces... lets see, not jumping rope, not running, not swimming, not any of the presses... so please enlighten me, what moves did CF make up???
there is a reason this intelligent athlete is doing crossfit and the reason is that crossfit is the true test of fitness. if klokov wants to be fit and not just strong then he has chosen the right thing to do. functional strength simply makes sense.
klokov just like crossfit, he'll not change Olympic weightlifting to crossfit. If he can crossfit for fun/conditioning training, why not? Klovov is one of my favorite lifters (with Illya and Pirros)
there is nothing wrong with kipping, its a gymnast technique. You don't hear gymnast saying they will throw rings into the ocean if they see Dmitry do a bodybuilding (good form) pull up! But funny comment none the less.
Man, if kipping pull ups scare you, Klokov might just kill you. Behind the back snatch grip presses are way sketchier than kipping pull ups and Klokov doesn't just do them - the lift is basically named after him at this point!

You're talking about two olympic medalist, they are no good, they are paragons of what they do. People look at their records and say: Hell, this guy is too strong/Fast. If you look at Froning you would say: man, this guy is awesome, he´s strong, but Klovov is much stronger, he's fast but Bolt is much faster. The last crossfit x weightlifting I found in internet was, basically, a former marine x a junior weightlifter doing 30 Clean and jerk. the crossfitter didn't make 4 allowed clean and jerks.
Yeah maybe the average gym going crossfitter, but not guys like Rich Froning, Jason Khalipa, Mikko Salo, hell even me. Those guys could max out against in all those lifts agains you and beat you by at least 50 pounds and then go on to beat you in a 5k run by at least 2 minutes.
