Thanks for this great video!I'm a nurse who is really interested in writing. Still trying to figure out how to start. But I wont give up! Keep up with the good work!
Hello Elba, I’m a 25 year nurse and for the last 10 years have been working in the PACU setting and love this work. I also love to write but unsure how these skills go together. Would love to hear more about this field!
Thanks for sharing!! I have nurses in my Writeto1k program and what I heard is that LinkedIn and your writer website will be your way of landing work! Good luck!
Thank you :) I am a nursing instructor always looking to dabble in side work... and how much better could it get but to put my educational background and nursing experience to work for me? I have been working remotely now for over a year, and feel I am getting a bit more savvy at technology online...would love to try this out!
Hi Allison! If you are interested in online writing and gaining clients in your nursing niche then including your education background will help you be more credible for sure!
Semi retired dermatology NP looking to supplement income. I do some alternative holistic dermatology. I can also write on skincare (I am an esthetician as well) is there a need for holistic nursing writing?
Hi! Why not? Go ahead and pitch and be confident that you know the medical industry or pick some topics you are in-depth (medication reactions etc..) and pitch that!
I'm an RN with a BSN but don't have much actual nursing experience. The only job I had as a nurse was at a shot clinic. Even now I study medical content all the time and know a lot even though I am not working. Is this something I can do even with my lack of experience?
Hi I love this video-great job. I am a registered nurse looking to branch out into medical writing. Do you have any recommendations for volunteer jobs in order to build my portfolio. Are there clients that would accept a pitch without having sample work yet?
To build your portfolio you can write samples, guest blog or use your own blog posts to build that up! I wouldn't volunteer to jobs as they will see you as a free writer and not pay you even if they like your writing!

Thank you for all these great ideas on niches for nurses. I will look to see what I can find. I love alternative health and mental health blogging.
Hey Jane! Awesome to hear! Yes, the medical niche is booming due to the pandemic. Pharmaceuticals as well!
I am an LPN psych nurse, and I am stoked about trying to come up with a plan for writing as a side gig.

I love this!
What would you recommend to someone who doesn’t have a degree within the medical field, but still wants to become a medical writer?
It depends on the prospects what they want. Usually for the health niche they do want someone with credible signs like a degree or certificate or job.
Would this work for other medical fields as well? I’m a pharmacy technician. And thank you for sharing all of your great information!
