  • Woohoo at last (thank-you Arken Optics) I’m able to share some first footage, captured with the amazing ThermNight TNC225R multi-spectral scope. Here from our garden I record our puppy Lucy in bright daylight at 18m, then some sheep opposite from 113m to 350m. Then I record sheep and cows, then test the LRF out to 858m.
This is the pre-production prototype (first displayed at the British Shooting Show 2024), so be aware the retail versions (available autumn 2024, though that’s between us) will have better image quality than this prototype.
More footage coming very soon, by day and night.
UPDATE ### I've been asked two great questions by viewers of this video, so will answer these in subsequent follow-on videos as my review continues...
    1) ...from ‪@Fubar684‬ "Pardon the dumb question, is the magnification 2 X 25?"
Good question actually (no dumb questions with a brand-new device), but no...
    With two objective lenses the optical displayed zoom "1x" (5x), 1.5x (7.5x), 2x (10x), 2.5x (12.5x), 3x (15x), 3.5x (17.5x) and 4x (20x) equates to the magnification in brackets: so like the ZHD520R's 5-20x.
    The thermal displayed zoom "1x" (3x), 2x (6x), 3x (9x) and 4x (12x) makes it 3-12x magnification.
Hope this makes sense, I'll publicise this feature as my review continues.
    2) ...from @MRxr400 "POI is different from thermal to IR. do you have to zero individually?"
Yep indeed, great question: Zeroing is the same as the existing day/night Zulus, so during the process you Zero one spectrum, then after adjusting X & Y values, reticle colour and design, you're asked "Switch to other channel for calibration?"
If you click yes, the spectrum swaps and you easily just adjust the 'other' X and Y values, then save.
I'll record a zeroing video shortly, as I think I can record the process within the scope.

Great video Russ 💪 the performance is imo pretty darn good for such a low res sensor, the detection and ID on them sheep at 200 odd was impressive.

I'm not sure they will, but can ask the question... TBH I'm not sure there will be much demand for a non-LRF/BCL version, and already having both digital and thermal lenses (plus IR) that wouldn't be much smaller.

Hi Alun, thank-you and thanks for watching.
Yep, I'll be using this method for any shorter-range ratting that comes up.
You 'align' the two sensors (once), then while zeroing you zero one spectrum (e.g. daylight), then are offered the choice to zero the other (i.e. thermal).
Once that's done you can shoot in either spectrum, and aim via the main window or the PIP -in both/either.
      All the best, cheers. Russ

Great vid bud. If the picture quality is on par with the current Zulus models and the thermal is a bit better (to be honest if using thermal as a ‘spotter’ with PIP, the thermal image isn’t terrible) then yeah I’ll be all up for getting one of these.
