from my experience flares are only somewhat useful on ships that are fast but not fast enough to dodge multiple missiles consistently, but for anything larger than that i go for point defense guns and for lighter ships I just dodge
Nice to see the Kalahari featured! Since it is a vanilla-themed ship, for effective defense I also like to use the 2A37s as anti-munition. They can take out a good amount of incoming fire and palash usually handles the rest juste fine ;)
@@kaptainbeans No problem. Can you do more builds? Highfleet changed a lot after 1.163. Weapon, ship structure, ammo, engines, etc. I only started to play this year but many contents of highfleet are outdated. Some of the 1.14 or 1.15 ships I downloaded still works as is but they are not modifiable nor repairable. The repair screen will glitch if I repair these old version ships in campaign. I feel like ships have to be more bulky now. Also they are more fragile than old version ships.
I guessed the purpose of the grenade shaped min-maxing ship correctly, but guessed how it works wrong. I thought it can go into the narrow and deep repair bays to boost repair time. It also looks like those verticle star ships in sci-fi. Pretty cool. The Kalahari uses 130mm because 130mm special ammo is easier to find in campaign, i guess.
Yeah, the Callisto is meant to grab as many landing spots as possible exploiting the game mechanics. I even heard the creator managed to get +900% repair speed XD
ya the problem i see with flares is, if the missile is IR type then just think about it your shooting small sparkles next to you BIG ****ing space lunching engines, soo ya i see why they don't work.
