Question: you said the Probe Diameter is the bit diameter.. Do you mean the bit shaft diameter or the blade diameter? All my bits have a 1/4 shaft. So, if I use a 1/4 shaft bit with a 1/8 blade, what do I put in as the probe diameter?
Yes, if you’re not using a tool setter. I am using a tool setter so I can probe Z with pin and when the bit change is called for it will measure the bit and apply the difference in offsets on Z to make everything work correctly.
@@mikebogart3841 Of course. I've just ordered a tool setter and have been using your fantastic spindle control cable you sent. I wasn't undermining you just putting it in for those who didn't\don't know.
Hi I bought a Journeyman Elite and having a probing issue. I am new to this so good chance its an operator error…. Question, I went through the probing process but once cutting out a simple circle its not starting the cut within the probing area at all. Should the probing tell the CNC where the work area will be at or do you think something is wrong with the probing device?
I really wish i would have waited. Still hoping for a upgrade path to the elite...Still love my Onefinity. I want to upgrade mine to the x-50 but im holding off to find out if i can get a upgrade path to that controller.
Does it actually matter enough that the probe moves during contact or should you hold it against the work piece?
I always hold it in place.
Very hepful. Thanks Mike!
Agreed!

You’d use the cutter diameter as that is what will contact the block.
Still about 6 weeks out for my Onefinity Elite delivery but very much appreciate any info you provide.
How do you use the probe on a circle or odd shape, lip on probe would not work, sorry new here ty
You would either have to line up by eye or make a fence on two sides and do a bit of math.
If using a precision piece like that to probe, it's important to probe your Z using the tool you will be using.
