A couple of suggestions: 1. Don't fill it with fluid until after you bolt it back on the bike. As soon as you bolt it on and the piston retracts it will overflow if you previously filled it 2. If you tilt the bars like this, make sure to clean any fluid out of the inner cover screw hole. If enough fluid is in there and you put the screw back in it can hydro lock and split the master cylinder case.
Glad I came across this video first. Never knew how to bleed it this way. I tried for over an hour to do it from the top. Great video and thank you for the help.
KTM sells a bleeder syringe u connect to the bleeder and press the fluid up to the master cylinder. thats all. no one ever takes the slave off. so what u show may work but this is not the way to correctly bleed the system...
Thanks for posting this video. I have to bleed the slave on my 950 SE, and was dreading it, but this shows it isn't all that hard. Cool trick with pumping from the slave rather than the master.
I just loosen the nut holding the top up tank & push it round a bit so it sits flat while bleeding to avoid spillage & see a true level at the end. Also wear gloves & put rag under top up res to soak up any fluid. Just my view but still good video thanks.👍
I have a 2006 ktm 105sx and when I did this the clutch was super hard to pull in and only half way engaged the clutch. I tired doing this several time and no success. Do u have any tips?
Why don't you just bleed the whole system instead of pushing the air out like that? Wouldn't you want fresh fluid too? Or does it not matter as much as it does with brake fluid?
I have a 1999 ktm 300mxc and the clutch is not fully disengaging and it drags and stalls out the bike if you do no rev it a little bit. Does that mean it may have a little bit of air in the line?
Can anyone help me out by any chance , I have a 2019 ktm 250sxf with a brembo hydraulic and the clutch bite is not far from my grips , it’s a death trap when I’m fatigued wile riding and it messes with my head because I’m constantly thinking I might not be able to engage it if things went wrong , iv tried bleeding it loads of times , even bought the syringe to back bleed it but no joy , I like the clutch bite as tight as possible and this hydraulic clutch is not for me , prefer the cable clutch on the yzs 😔
Nice how to video, but you couldn't have chosen a more annoying background song. Pls in the future, do it without the background music. Ppl that watch these kinds of videos are here to learn not to get entertained.
First of all the video doesn't show how to bleed the clutch. Second of all they say to use mineral oil, as in an oil the comes from minerals, so pretty much anything but brake fluid. And thirdly, the music... All in all a frustrating unhelpful video:)
***** KTMs call for DOT4 or 5.1 brake fluid. Brembo clutches use brake fluid not mineral oil. do not use DOT 5 as it is silicone based and will eat away at the seals.
i had a 08 250sx, whenever i pull in the clutch all the way it wants to crawl forward a little bit, and whenever i pull in the clutch and shift down you can hear the engine braking (just baaaaarely though) would bleeding my clutch fix this, or does it sound like i need new clutch plates?
Not 100% sure but on my Yamaha they said the clutch basket wear causes stuff like what you described. They told me to take it out and smooth out the edges with a file and sand paper and reassemble it. It seemed to fix the issue. The clutch basket isn't always expensive so that might be easier.
You are correct that mineral oil will not, but DOT brake fluid will. My service manual for my 2016 690 Enduro R claims that I should be using "HYDRAULIC FLUID ISO GV(15)" - Motorex Hydraulic Fluid 75, which is mineral oil, but the cap on top of my Magura hydraulic clutch says "USE ONLY DOT 4 OR DOT 5.1 FLUID".
hydro-locked ? others said this : A couple of suggestions: 1. Don't fill it with fluid until after you bolt it back on the bike. All these negative comments ona free help/how-to vid, and you same peeps probably wonder why companies no longer have real people phone #'s and 9/10 dirtbike companies go under. Its not because they run out of money its because they dont wanna deal with ur neg nancy mentalities. try giving informative info not hatred.
Thanks very much for that . Saved a trip to the shop . The previous guys right . Loose the music . Makes it hard to hear the mechanic !!
Thanks for the info and the video. I agree the music is distracting.
Great video! I really liked the parts that were in focus 👌🏻
I don't see any bleeding process just taking out the bubbles from the main cylinder, is it right?

I really liked the chill ass beat. These must be old people complaining about it.

thankyou. best/ most straightforward way ive found to fix a super spongy lever.

My favorite part is where the fluid goes all over the bars and controls when he puts the cap back on with the overfilled reservoir.
mmm you have to push the cylinder to take out the air
thanks man almost just pulled it off thinking i should do it right
Dude's... Cocaine... Want again and listen to his sniffs
The usual method didn’t work on my clutch, tried doing this and it works perfect now.
Well, the title says how to bleed. Not refill.
is normal that in 2 stroke there is oil transmission that goes out when you remove the screw in the video ?

People on here complain about the music i can hear him just fine nice chill beat good how to video saved me some time
been trying to do this all week ,,, great video
Holy fck....the music.... in a rubbadub stylie hahaha
I nodded off
Awful music played too loud.
Great background music!
thanks for the tutorial, worked perfect, my clutch was starting to slip with clutch in,turns out there was air trapped in the system..
Why are you removing the plate when KTM provided a drain valve there?!!!
I have a 2006 ktm 105sx and when I did this the clutch was super hard to pull in and only half way engaged the clutch. I tired doing this several time and no success. Do u have any tips?
This is the right (easy) way to do it. So many other videos of others doing it the hard way.
thanks Justin, your timing is excellent; just as I needed some help :)
Why don't you just bleed the whole system instead of pushing the air out like that? Wouldn't you want fresh fluid too? Or does it not matter as much as it does with brake fluid?
Thx, good video. The background music is a little bit to loud.
Gracias amigo saludos de España me sirve de ayuda gracias por su atención

Wicked video, will give it a go tonight!
I have a 1999 ktm 300mxc and the clutch is not fully disengaging and it drags and stalls out the bike if you do no rev it a little bit. Does that mean it may have a little bit of air in the line?
Music was perfect, no problem boys! thanks

OH MY GOD!!!! That music is the worst ever and way to loud. Couldn't watch the video because of the music. Just sayin...........
fucking hate the background music!
Learn something new everyday!!
Hahahaha music really helps over a FUCKING TUTORIAL VIDEO
If it’s mineral oil on that clutch it won’t do any damage just attract dirt
Video is awesome except for the annoying music was distracting.
is this the same principle for a 2009 sxf 250
I can't afford no ktm, Is there a way to add a hydraulic clutch to a apollo rfz 125 lol?
Thank you, very helpful
Many thanks for the tip!!!
Thanks. My seal took a shit at 75hrs. Wish husquvarna had stuck with Brembo.
What the hell.....i thought my Pandora started to play in rhe background on KennyG station
exaclty what I need :) Thank you
Why not gravity bleed it?
omg, stopped watching because of the music! What are you thinking?
Seguiré tus vídeos
Did you say something?

Can anyone help me out by any chance , I have a 2019 ktm 250sxf with a brembo hydraulic and the clutch bite is not far from my grips , it’s a death trap when I’m fatigued wile riding and it messes with my head because I’m constantly thinking I might not be able to engage it if things went wrong , iv tried bleeding it loads of times , even bought the syringe to back bleed it but no joy , I like the clutch bite as tight as possible and this hydraulic clutch is not for me , prefer the cable clutch on the yzs 😔

Good vid but no music next time
Nice how to video, but you couldn't have chosen a more annoying background song. Pls in the future, do it without the background music. Ppl that watch these kinds of videos are here to learn not to get entertained.
Wym that song really fired me up I can’t wait to go outside and ride full speed like I’m at the skating rink
consider reducing the volume of the background music. can't hear what the balls you saying, man.
mine is doin the same shit!!! got a 09 250 xc. i broke my cable.. idfk wht to do
What kind of fluid is used? Just brake fluid?
Why do people insist on screwing up a perfectly good video with porn music?
First of all the video doesn't show how to bleed the clutch. Second of all they say to use mineral oil, as in an oil the comes from minerals, so pretty much anything but brake fluid. And thirdly, the music... All in all a frustrating unhelpful video:)
This is how you back bleed.. As in bleeding it backwards...
Agreed 100%
***** KTMs call for DOT4 or 5.1 brake fluid. Brembo clutches use brake fluid not mineral oil. do not use DOT 5 as it is silicone based and will eat away at the seals.
Krevin Grard My 450 sxf service manual says to use mineral oil!
SlammedBeretta thats because your bike is older than a 08. In 08 they switched to brembo clutches witch use 5.1 brake fluid.
Song?
Well, this video doesnt show how to replace the fluid......
What's the instrumental ?
sounds like madlib or jdilla
I did every thing and my clutch still doesn't work, when I pull the lever there is no pressure
How did you fix this?
Overfilled.
Learned a new and easy way ….thanks
Is it normal to get some bubbles come out of the side of the reservoir cap when squeezing the clutch?
i had a 08 250sx, whenever i pull in the clutch all the way it wants to crawl forward a little bit, and whenever i pull in the clutch and shift down you can hear the engine braking (just baaaaarely though) would bleeding my clutch fix this, or does it sound like i need new clutch plates?

That porn music is dreadful
Good & informative, never mind the music shoot the cameraman!! Stop shaking & get in focus!!!!
Please with the music, I'm sure you enjoy it but... And he never showed us how to back bleed!!! Wtf. Terrible
No help
next time rap it to the background beats.
Helpful video. Shit camera work, bad angles.
"Never ever reuse a gasket"- Ant Antsted.
any sugjestions?
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF I TAKE MY SLAVE CYLINDER OFF SHOULD FLUID BE COMING OUT OF THERE?
F,.&ing music. Why?
1:26 someone jizzed?
You work terribly! Shame to show such an example
Yeah! You'll never be a factory mechanic man!
Mineral oil will not eat the paint. If your using it like ktm says then rinse that shit off and go ride!
Hey, I'm asking again SIX YEARS LATER -- WHATS THE NAME OF THE SONG??? Please! I've been searching for six years.
I did this and I can’t pull my clutch in it gets half way and won’t go anymore what do I do???
hydro-locked ? others said this :
