Saving, sharing and downloading this because it actually worked! I was sitting outside when I heard the chipmunk that live under our stoop in the plant next to it. Tried one video on yt, nothing. Pulled up this one and probably 10 seconds later it's popped its head out and it looking at me. Can't wait to finish work to try again.
title is self-explanatory, had three chipmunks visit me for two days straight after offering them corn and nuts, and now they are starting to chip back. will be playing again 100/10.
He's letting all the hot chipmunk babes know that he is well set for life...nice big stashes of corn, seed and nuts in several burrows. Not to mention he comes from good stock and is really good looking and caring. Plus he has no jealous ex's to create drama in his new relationship and has paid all his taxes so the IRS has nothing on him. Girls what are you waiting for? Come to daddy.
The other morning I heard this and looked to see what kind of bird it was. There was a chipmunk sitting on the porch step chirping away. I looked up this video so I could send a link to someone else so they'd know too. :)
Thanks for sharing. We had a zillion chipmunks at our previous home and I think we lived there for a year or two before I finally figured out it was them making this noise. I was always trying to spot the bird I thought was doing it. It's very funny how the sounds these guys make are so hard to pin down directionally. The sounds seem to be coming from everywhere at once. Even after I learned that it was coming from ground level I still found it difficult to spot the chipmunk responsible for these little chirps. Thanks again and keep up the good work. Cheers! {8^)
Born in New Jersey, we started vacationing in Vermont when I was 5. I'm sure the chipmunks at the campsite were used to all the campers before us,but in a couple of days we had them eating out of our hands.
Mark Napiorkowski When I used to live in Colorado we'd go to Estes Park quite frequently to fish or just hang out. It's a beautiful spot. Anyway, the chipmunks up there are all but tame too. They come right up and beg for handouts if you don't offer fast enough. If you're sitting on the ground up against a tree they crawl right up on your leg, get up on their hind legs and just stare at you. You can almost hear them thinking "C'mon! Hand over the food!" Who could ever resist that face? They really are adorable as it pretty much all of the squirrel family.
Cute little Chipmunk, they sang their song not missing a note. You're information is very accurate. My Great Grandmother.... Elisi (grandma in Cherokee) would be proud of you . Thank you.😄 for a cute video and good information
I too thought it was a bird , but then I saw two come from behind my fall arrangement on my patio, I saw there holes in the ground , they are so cute and seems harmless ….
I have many around my house and I love them. The variation in chirps have different meanings. This one is probably alerting others there is a threat in the area although I have found mine to do this waiting for me to put out berries and nuts. They love walnuts. They have different chirp for threats from the air, one for when they are heading to their burrow and a very specific one, which one is doing outside my window right now, for mating. 🥰 It's late September up north.
For curious minds - this chipmunk is either warning others of a predator OR its trying to attract a mate ❤ Very persistent! 😂 I always envision the chipmunks playing laser tag, and this is the sound of their guns 💀 😂
Thanks for this great video and the information provided. I love the way the whole little body is involved in producing the sounds. Do males and females both make the calls? Thanks again for the happiness.
There's a poor chipmunk stuck in my house. Using this to lead it out ......... hopefully lol. I'm also trying the peanut method the human society said to do.
Yep... Some people refer to them as "ground squirrels" (at least they did when I was growing up). My son (when still a toddler) called them "Chick-a-Mumps". Close! Our 'blind' Shar-Pei, "Wally" used to chase them while we hiked the paths (using only his hearing, until he eventually became deaf... but still he used his sense if smell). 😁
0:17 what is the creature making this sound? I always hear it in my area but I could never figure out what it was... the thing that sounds like a bird, btw.
Chipmunks do make a variety of sounds indeed! I just posted a video of chipmunk mating sound. You have probably heard chipmunks and not known it was that. Cheers!💕🐿
It is currently 7:45 on a Sunday morning and this motherf***ing chipmunk has made this god awful sound for at least 10 minutes so loudly that it wakes me up. So yes, I’ve been outside, cussing out a chipmunk until it shuts up thank you for asking. Edit: and for those that are saying “It’s doing that because they’re danger near” NOT AT 7:30 am FOR THE PAST THREE DAYS!!
Props to your cat for actually catching one, they are lightning quick. The chipmunks by me don’t care about my cat because they know he can’t catch them.

In all seriousness, is this a mating call?
And they'll do this for hours 😅
and hours....
I've heard that sound before. I thought it was birds.
Me too

Uriah Jackson haha that’s the way found out the noise they make too!

I would have thought so too until now! Wow!

I wonder what it means.
Why are chippies chipmunks so frickin cute tho....
My cat just brought a LIVE one inside.
My cat chased one and it made this noise super loud as it fled

dude same
Same 😂
What a cutie pie..
Such cute, little, innocent creatures!!
Except for all of the holes they dig in people’s yards.(including mine!)
Innocent they are not. Destructive and second as a primary carrier of lyme disease. Compared to chipmunks, rats are innocent.
@@alsearsa using this to kill chipmunks currently
That little guy is the “Lookout” on patrol and he’s calling you out “Stranger Danger”
I've never seen one in real life and I honestly did not know they actually chipped until now. Thanks for teaching me something! (They are so cute!)
I play this for my neighborhood chipmunks. They stop their own chip chipping to listen. I wish they'd come hang out with me. Maybe teach them to sing.
Sound of red

I have a wild chipmunk that chirps until I throw him seeds and nuts..
Alvin calling Simon and Theodore and the chipettes
Such a small creature and he can make such a loud sounds. I adore those chipmunks, so beautiful
This chipmunk sure is a chatterbox
I think of them as the squirrel's little cousin😀
The chipmunk being a Canadian and the squirrel being an American.
I think of them as target practice
Waittttt your telling me chipmunks aren’t squirrels😭💀
Squirrels will eat them. I have two in my yard. We named them she-Charlamain, and he Elijah🥰

That's what that is? Man, they sound like birds
Great job spotting this fellow. Very health looking. Great video👍💜
Chipmunks are hard to find
What a lovely creature! I came here after seeing a couple in my yard. I wish I had a talking family of them as neighbors.
No you don't. They destroy foundations, sink concrete pathways, and ruin gardens and landscaping
@@MS-ld3ro Then I could sue them
I just never knew chipmunks made so many sounds....!!! Love all your videos!
AWESOME FOOTAGE AND INFORMATION!!!! Did you say why they make that noise constantly? Seems to me they'd get tired! They're SO CUTE!!!!!! 😆
By
No. It’s not constant. Mainly when they are on alert.
The chirping is when they see strangers or prey is around..its a warning to other animals about prey.
I too thought it was a bird , but then I saw two come from behind my fall arrangement on my patio, I saw there holes in the ground , they are so cute and seems harmless ….
thanks for sharing, i really love chipmunk, and i have now many chipmunk friends

Does anyone know what he's talking about? :o)
@Sciurus Rubrum LOL!!! You may be correct, cause he sure is working hard at it.
Matting call in late summer and early autumn. Squirrels have similar call but deeper sound.
I'm assuming he's name Dale?
What is the purpose of the nonstop chip-chip-chipping? Calling for a prospective mate? Calling family? Just likes to call? There must be some purpose.
TiticatFollies danger is near.
