Yeah the mafex is the way to go for just one definitive cyclops. Mafex blends into legends better too. However Dave sure made this mezco cyclops look good
Love the opening ad (just had an audio 'bleed over' during foilow on tho!). Glad you liked both Hasbro Pulse exclusive Human TOrch and Invisible Woman! Liking those more than the regular figures in the retro wave. Keep them! Those blue and white costumes are wonderful. MAFEX Cyclops is nice, but I'm old school; gotta have the yellow underwear and simplified blue costume.
I bought the flamed on human torch, and just turned my super skrull wave human torch into an easy custom to the paper bag FF spiderman for my Spiderverse display
“You know what, I can’t deal with this guy” - the legendary doctor doom Damn Dave, you stopped the likes ok doctor doom! Definitely worth a like and sub!
Dave, once you get the regular sue storm you can switch out the head and hands(the arms as well but that takes a little work) to get her looking like she’s changing into her invisible self.
Xcorpio has a video demonstrating how to make the various options, including an adjustment to let Sue utilize the lab coat and arms from the Moira McTaggert figure... (Dave, I know you don't really do customization to your figures, and that's cool, BUT I highly recommend AT LEAST WATCHING his videos just to check out all the awesome options with the 2 Sues and Human Torch Johnny Storms... You won't regret it, because regardless of implementing the changes, the videos are fun to watch...) He ALSO makes his own poseable Spider-Man webbing, which would be great for your various Spider-Man characters to sport. I've just asked him to do a tutorial video on that, and he liked the idea, so we may see that SOON!!! THAT would be something you could do for your figures, that wouldn't require typical physical alterations to the figure. Make the webbing. Pop the hand off & loop it around the wrist, replace the hand, and done! Whenever we finally get an X-Force Kane figure, I plan to do something similar with his launching hand, to make it appear to be "flying" from his wrist...😉
Cyclops is a cool figure but If I may suggest Cable has literally the same body mold but with a winter soldier arm and bad ass guns, hopefully you consider adding him to your collection
They did it, remember when I said, if they do a multi pose with action light up/ pop claw etc ALA toybiz style just marvel legends it would be Dope, we’ll they did Cyclope Very street fighter version too
Well, regarding the Colossus question, Dave... Speaking AS someone who HAS BOTH, and I really LIKE BOTH, I'll say this: For your 90's Jim Lee X-Men team, I'd recommend staying with the 2-pk ML Colossus... For THAT team. That is the version I myself use for that particular line-up of X-Men. Having said THAT, I'll tell you WHY... 1) The Selects Colossus has decent enough articulation, BUT NOT Titanium Man level articulation, as he's an older Selects figure... 2) The Selects Colossus is more in line with an earlier X-Men line-up, like 1st issue All New X-Men up to around mohawk Storm team style, so I use mine with that classic type of team, with the orange & brown costume Wolverine back down to the All New yellow & black tiger stripes costume... 3) SOME people take issue with his size, but personally, I think he's spot on, mixed into ML, because Colossus is supposed to be quite big, as X-Men go, especially serving up fastball specials. So, IF you're planning to do a retro Cyclops/Mohawk Storm led team of X-Men, GET a Selects for that style team... Unless you JUST want a BIGGER Colossus to fight that Sentinel, and ignore his boots.😁 In THAT CASE, gets you a Selects!!!😅 Those are MY thoughts, but honestly, I don't think you can go wrong EITHER way. I have BOTH and I love BOTH. IF the ML version had the Selects' height, I'd love it a little more as my Jim Lee team version, BUT it is what it is. Some additional food for thought though... While I do NOT, in general particularly LIKE ANYTHING AoA, there ARE a VERY few figure/costume designs that I do like, such as Ice Blue Aquavelva man, Kitty & Colossus, BUT I detest the "crazy sombitch Colossus" persona, while Kitty's character is a fairly natural development, given her 616 association & close friendship with Wolverine as a mentor... Colossus' character being a bona fide nutsack & fruitcake DOESN'T jibe with who his character is. Yes, I KNOW he loves his little sister, but being THAT effing insane isn't JUST an unhealthy obsession, it's downright psychotic and STUPID. Peter has always been intelligent and cool headed, and remorseful when faced with the loss of loved ones, NOT a raving loon... But I digress... Anyway, regarding Colossus, my point is actually that given the AoA wave 2 BAF Colossus is apparently a good bit larger than the 2pk version, when placed side by side (have YOU done that, Dave?!😲), I think there's a decent chance Hasbro will do some retooling of THAT figure and give us a new version of the Jim Lee/classic Colossus, so you could be replacing whichever version you decide on, in a year or 2 or so. Having picked up the Kitty and Iceblueaquavelvaman figures, and a Rogue for parts and a custom, I basically had half the BAF, with the torso & arms, then my friend messaged me asking if I needed any of the Colossus BAF parts because he had extras and knew I liked the Colossus character (though not as much the AoA version), and I mentioned needing the legs, so he brought them by for me. I finished assembling him, and dug out the weird Warlock wave(?) Colossus, and popped THOSE heads onto the torso, and yes, they fit and look GOOD. Next, I removed the belt and cut OFF those DAMN suspenders, flipped around the shoulder paldron and modified a new connection to make it fit MUCH BETTER. My plan is to paint the paldron strap yellow like the belt, which I flipped upside down and reattached around his waist (the belt that is). I also plan to add yellow in between the straps on the underside of his forearm armor, and I'm thinking about actually making the straps black, then doing the same on the lower legs... And possibly adding some yellow accents to his knee & forearm armor, as well... I'm tempted to shave OFF those damned globes from his shoulder paldron, but probably won't bother until I can figure out something cool to hide the damage or smooth it out nicely, so until then, they get a pass. I MAY add some yellow to the outer sides of the bland red shorts' legs, a la X-Force style, to break up the red and create some flow through the figure. JUST with what I HAVE done already, he looks great, and quite different from the AoA version, especially minus the stupid suspenders and new head replacements, although I can't decide WHICH head I like on him more. They BOTH work well. When I put my 2pk and Warlock wave Colossus figures next to the BAF version... It was sad seeing my Jim Lee Colossus looking so small by comparison... So, here's hoping Hasbro ALREADY has plans to remedy this.
If you think that cyclops is cool you need to get cable . I have cable and a different version of cyclops , but trust me cable is such an amazing figure . And about the colossus figure , if you have the old toy biz one I would use that but if you don’t you should stick with a legends Colossus in my opinion, the select one is like 7 -9 inches tall
Awesome additions to your collection, David. I need to get Johnny Storm. I have the retro wave Fantastic Four most likely I'll keep them granted I already opened Psycho Man and High Evolutionary. Even though the retro wave looks great along with derpy Sue. I still have the Walgreen's and Super Skull FF waves tbh I like them a little moreso than the retro. Idk. Anyhow....🤣hilarious intro🤣btw.
Great video, David! As for the question of which colossus, I think the paint is and articulation is better on the legends version but if you want a bigger colossus the select is pretty good, but I personally prefer the articulation and silver paint on the marvel legends version.
I have my legends display for x men and with one exception marvel select colossus and I think I’m gonna buy the 2 pack. I want to get the mafex cyclops and Jean grey cuz I only got the X factor and house of x versions so I want that Jim lee look.
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour haha brilliant man . I know you know your stuff man that's why your my go to channel but if I can give you a wee bit of advice get the mezco magneto man he's absolutely amazing one of my favourite figures I have a lot of mezco and mafex I'm like you I replace one with a better one but magneto is absolutely amazing man .not the white one the red one
Quick question Dave, where do you get your flight stand. Bought a few off ebay and they're just absolute garbage. So flimsy and don't fancy buying the extortionate price of a neca flight stand
Wow I really do miss that very very nice collection... Never listen to a hater that has nothing not even a prop telling you these are for kids an woman don't like it . Wrong.. lady's think a collection is very cool if she's not a hatter,..
That’s very true bud. They’re a brand new company and they’re currently in talks with Hasbro regarding distribution deals. Apparently it’s a very complex procedure to become an official seller. They fully intend to sell all Marvel legends lines in the new year!
To me, the best, definitive '90s Cyclops out there is the MAFEX.
Yeah the mafex is the way to go for just one definitive cyclops. Mafex blends into legends better too. However Dave sure made this mezco cyclops look good
Definitely a good argument to be had for both! :)

You can never have too many
I think that they should’ve given cyclops the trunks and made him a darker blue that would’ve made it a lot better.
Soup cans + black wash = figure stand

After owning both figures I do agree marvel legends is more superior, Diamond select is more taller and less articulation.
Great advice gents. I'm going to stick with the Legends version!
Diamond select has oddly long legs

I imagine he translates better in hand
