Love your videos! Special thanks for the one you just did, tooling around the San Juan’s as that’s my old stomping grounds in the early days of my career. I flew C172’s, 206’s and 207’s, 402’s and Britten Norman Islanders..my favorite….for San Juan Airlines in the 1980,s. It was great fun. On to this current adventure of yours….
The patches of hillside with nothing growing there happen regularly here (in NZ) in real life. It only takes a lot of rain and a small earthquake to send a chunk of hill and everything growing on it down towards the river. That part of the country isn't exactly dry and earthquakes are one of our signature dishes, and there's a massive faultline running along the length of the Southern Alps, so yeah .......
Now I’m just waiting for a Dash 8 Q400. This things the closest I can get and I love this mod. Great job they did. And goodness the sound is an absolute symphony.❤️
I recently bought this plane as a newer guy to the sim, and absolutely LOVE it. I wasn't around during it's rocky launch wit the poor sound package, but that looks to have been patched about the time I bought it, with a new sound package. Great plane.
Landed their about a week ago, the runway you landed on is way more open than shown in the sim and is not open for public access sadly. The second airstrip(one I landed on) was completely surrounded in trees with dozens poking up right beside you on the approach. Indeed a very sketchy and bumpy landing(not much of a strip)
I'm looking forward to what they do for New Zealand in the coming World Update. Certainly mesh and imagery, but what airports and cities get a refresh? I already have the Orbx mesh so I wonder how that will work with it.
@@jonbeckett There is a Mt Cook area product with a few airports and scenery enhancements for sale on the MarketPlace that I would normally get, but think it's best to wait until after the NZ World Update.
I don't how you avoided the ridge... but you did! I don't think trees in front of runways are there in real-life at some of these airports. According to another youtuber who talked with a real pilot of the Twin Otter, it does tilt when turning while taxing. The Otter is an excellent pay ware plane for sure.
I notice you’re mod sounds different from mine. Mine has a much more beefy roaring turbo prop sound. Yours sounds almost like the base king air. Or maybe it’s just the video. Idk.
Thanks Jon for the work. I've taken to downloading your videos and at my leisure following your procedures to master aircraft I'm keen on flying. On another note, I just got the RTX3080Ti to replace my 1080GTX. But there's a little problem. Apparently, it's impossible - at least from my experience - to do any different graphics settings in the Sim other than what's been preselected by the card. I say so cos if I tweak anything under the ingame graphic settings, it all rolls back if I restart the Sim. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong as I am always careful to save every setting I prefer. It really is quite confusing thus far. I think its good to add that i never had the same problem with the old 1080GTX. Any help would be greatly appreciated please.
The sound still sucks. Whoever does the sound doesn't get that you have to bend the pitch of the sound samples so they match the rpm of the engine. They use a couple of samples for different RPM settings. So when you go from idle to a slightly higher setting, you have to change the pitch of the idle sample until it meets the pitch of the next setting, and then it crossfades to the next recording, and etc. They don't do the pitchbending correctly. so when it crossfades you hear 2 samples at the same time, but at different rpm settings. Anyway I hope they finally promoted this sound guy to janitor or teaboy or something, because he just doens't get it, despite people having explained it a million times. The recordings themselves are excellent btw, just the programming sucks.
Lots of people have told me I missed the manual in the tablet :) Of course I've been away since, so have had to just watch all the comments arrive lol. I'll do some proper flights with it soon. I don't remember seeing the manual in the installation folder? Hmmm.
Yeah, but the X-Plane scenery is nothing like as realistic - or the weather modelling (and yes, I know you can improve it with OrbX, various weather mods and so on). Nice smooth video though!
underrated youtuber keep it up man! 👍😁

Glad you like them!
I remember San Juan Airlines whoaa
Epic flight - real edge of the seat stuff!
Thank you! 😊👍🏻
You're welcome :)

Great Piloting.. well done! Thank you.
It was a bit dangerous at times lol

Yes the Dash 8 will be another great plane to fly
You and me both!
try out the ATR or Dash 7! both great
Another excellent video - though it got a bit hairy at times! Epic scenery, expertly flown - thoroughly enjoyed it!

The sound is still a bit ropey, but it's getting better.
Excellent! ....yes i enjoyed that lots 😀👍
Awesome, thank you!
Excellent very close 🫣flying 👏
So close!

Heh - Martins Bay is good fun, isn't it :)
" The littel keybaord icon " ahhhh, i never knew it . much easier now. thanks
No problem!
Tried your flight. I landed on the beach . the packs where going there anyway lol
Hahahaa
It really looks awakward the way it is shaking? But , still a great video. Such a wonderful plane.
Yep - not sure what was causing that. I wonder if it will eventually get updated ?
the passengers will be recovering for a long time after that landing

I read somewhere that Milford Sound will be replaced with a much more detailed depiction. Queenstown is already pretty good.

@@MojaveHigh I rarely buy any scenery upgrades. I think Asobo and their partners have done a pretty good job :)
Recently updated this through msfs marketplace and it sounds a lot better now imo.
It is.
great! - thx. btw, which map are you using in littlenavmap? can´t find that representation/look
That was bonkers!
It really was :)
Oh wow, love that plane only if you had used me my livery you could have advertised my Lincs Dobermann rescue. Damn it😢

It was more luck than judgement.
Great flying, thanks! May I ask what map theme you're using for Little NavMap please? It's quite nice!
It's a Google Maps add-on for it - just google "Google Maps LittleNavMap" :)
Man I want this plane. Really wanted it for my Caribbean flights. Still nowhere to be found.
Same is it not in msfs I have looked for it everywhere
This flight has some top gun maverick vibes.
34:33 you probably should’ve engaged some anti ice at this point
Probably :)

I turned the volume of the engines right down. I don't have any add-ons that affect the sound - you may have.
Where do you. Get this?
The Twin Otter is still in the MSFS marketplace. I don't think Aerosoft sell it any more.
Hi what was that volume panel you bought up? Was that the Flow ap.
That was OBS - the screen recording software.
Brown trousers time !
Great stuff, this is my next plane in the sim! What map are you using in LNM to get such good contoures?
Google Little Nav Map Google Maps :)

Not seen that happen myself - but then I just leave everything on stock anyway (set to Ultra typically).
Try running the "GeForce Experience" program and disabling the graphics optimization for Flight Simulator.
Is this plane available on xbox?
Not sure - it's available from Aerosoft for the PC.
@@jonbeckett No it's not. Still struggling with WASM and the closed Xbox system software. However some time in 2023 Asobo will sort this out.
Excellent vidéo Jonathan, any idea why my GA plane lately always have motor failure ,oil pressure, low psi,my failures in option are at easy!
