SIDARI. CORFU 2021 Now After Lockdown

- I had a wander around Sidari late June 2021 to see what was open and still in business. foud one good bar not visited before but considering pretty soon lockdown is completely finished here in Corfu I was surprised at what I found!!!

the part that you said was ruined with sunbeds used to be an derelict villa,it is now called the sea garden,peter and his staff have worked very hard to transform this eyesore into a great bar with beautiful gardens,you should have filmed that al,see you in august.
Hi Toshtile, Thanks for watching, I was refering to the beach, I do not recall ever seeing a villa actually on the beach, but on the green garden behind the beach. But either way I feel it is a shame that the beautiful open sandy beach is now commercialised with sunbeds. I know the locals are suffering due to lockdown and need to do whatever to make a few quid, but still a shame. I am sure Peters hard work with the bar and garden is well recognised. Feel deeply sad, for Sadari and other areas I know, on the island :-( As always Al, always a pleasure watching your little films, makes me smile.... Everyone needs a few smiles these days.

I hope you have a good time, I suggest you rent a car and visit ROda and Acharavi, or use the local green bus which goes back and forth including Kassiopi several times a day. Al

This would be our 6th trip to Corfu.
We love Acharavi, the best gyros in Corfu!
We've had a very strange car rental cancellation 3 days before our trip, but managed to get another car at a reasonable price.
Mixed feelings about this holiday.
It's more about going to see the people who always welcomed us well and help their season not being as disastrous, than what we get out of it this year.

Thanks for the update Al. Great to see you looking well. Should be in Corfu right now but flight cancelled (again). We'll try again in September but for now I've got the wife at home for 2 weeks because she booked the time off work. That means she's got loads of time to list what I haven't done and what I've done wrong!

@@tekcha3524 it's not as deserted as you see in the video, but definitely you can feel the effect of covid. The sea is fabulous, people are nice, the locals really appreciate and welcome the tourists.
Thx for the latest info al our first trip to sidari was cancelled last month but still waiting to hear about our tip in August to sidari I don't mind 2 weeks peace on the beach cheers both of you stay safe

Just came back from Corfu a few days ago. Also visited Sidari (again) but the looks of it was terrible. Lots and lots of closed shops, or went out of bussiness. A few years ago it was always a very busy town, but there is not much left of it. Hope when (if) the tourist arrive it come to life again. So sorry the see this, Corfu is a beautiful island.
We are flying to Sidari in a few days time.
In all honesty, apart from looking forward to some sunshine, we are quite keen to spend a few quid over there, help are Greek hosts and perhaps give a tiny push to the island getting back to it's old self.

Hi Gatsby, We are great thankyou, We do not know what the family is doing this year tentative thoughts about September, but the UK are being so wishy washy you could budget to come when we are classed as green then be stuffed because UK decide we are amber while your here. Hi Steve, How long is a piece of string, I would buy now while everything is in flux, it may get harder later or easier with this Brexit nonsense , prices are not to bad and there are still bargain fixer uppers to be found. If you decide you want to buy I will refer you to a guy who has his finger on the pulse, But you will need to know where you want to be and your budget. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching. Al.

Hi uindy4, Sorry cannot help you there, never heard of it, we use Cosmote, which is pretty slow and a mediocre company. But that's it. of course there are several mobile phone companies. Al

Have you spoke to anyone who's made it there from the uk yet on how much of a mission it is and what you go through. On the government site now it says you just need to have either had the pcr test or had both doses of the vaccination and your allowed in an out. But it'd be good to know from someone who's done it all. ,
The people I have spoken to say there was not that much of a check coming in, the problem is going back when you land in the uK. Thanks for watching. Al

I have to say mate, that looked grim and cheap as. The crap on the beach at the end, just spoils the natural flow of a beach for me, I agree with you 100%, I hate to see miles and miles of fat burning Europeans on cheap plastic beds all the way up to the lip of the surf. Hell for me. Thank God for Fever bar it seems. The rest of the place is dead as a dodo. Poor sods. Tough times.
