The Land Raider We Never Got

- In another video looking at the old designs of vehicles from the Warhammer 40,000 universe that never became 40k scale production kits I turn my hand to recreating the original Land Raider model that was shown in the first edition rulebook.
This Land Raider definitely looks like it would be something used during the Unification Wars in my opinion. Gives off the rough and rugged look of that era.
I have the magical Leman Russ kit bash Land Raider from late 2nd edition. Use the hill turned around, double up the track width, and kit bash it into a Land Raider. I knew several people who did that in the dark times when there were no Land Raiders.
Great work there. I did something similar with the template they gave out to build our own baneblade.
Is that the Baneblade from the White Dwarf modelling workshop article? I built one of those too, though I found that I had to alter a number of the parts from the templates given.
@@stephenjdutton Yes that’s the one. I slightly modified the design to be more like the current model though.
I always enjoy seeing your latest scratch built models as you do such a great job of designing, building and painting them! Thanks for sharing this.
Amazing work
Impressive! Will you publish DIY instructions?
This is a question I've been asked a few times. I've never intended this model to be more than a one off and I didn't record each step as I went along so detailed instructions aren't going to be possible. However, I did keep the initial sketches long enough to scan them and have written some basic instructions to go along with them. If you contact me via my website then I can e-mail you a copy of the document.
Absolutely love your videos! Thank you for sharing your creativity and your process!
Fantastic work! I’m in the process of restoring an old land raider and this is an inspiration!
I have a few old land raider kits myself that I need to finish restoring. One of them had its sides coated in about a quarter inch of epoxy putty when I got it and the central hull crudely replaced by old bulkhead parts! I managed to chip away all the epoxy and rebuilt the hull from plasticard.
This absolutely wonderful! I did wonder if the hellfire was ever represented in the rules anywhere. I missed it in the chapter approved book. I shall have to go have another look. I LOVE your scratch built miniature too.
This is great!
Bought the twin pack in 91 and went halves with a buddy. Still got it in my storage
I absolutely ador this!!
Do you think you would ever remake and release a printable stensil file for what items are needed/ what parts need to be cut out?
I have like no confidence in making something like that. :c
also I am your 1,000th sub!!! :D Congrats man!!!
I never intended for this project to become a full instruction set for reproducing the model. However, you are not the first person to request this sort of information and I do have pdfs of the sketches shown in the video along with a document that provides some rough notes on what I used. Given the very rough nature of these I haven't made them available for download on my website but if you contact me through there then I can e-mail you the two pdfs.
Outstanding!
Nicely done!
Very good work. Thank You!
Wow im blown away how great this turned out! Subbed!
Good job, if you get some lascannons it would look almost shop bought
Good job😊
Had the old 2ed LR & the 3rd. While the 3rd looked much better having LR the size of a Rhino was really handy.
Can you make templates for this so people can make their own?…it would really be could to have one for my army…
A proper set of templates will depend on me having time to revisit the project and make corrected measurements. For now the best I could do is scan the sketches that put the various elements of the front wheel out of alignment (including the outlines at about the 2:45 mark in the video) as 1:1 scale pdfs and provide a few notes.
@@stephenjduttonthat would be awesome,i can work with that. Its just like the instructions that come in white dwarf to scratch build your own baneblade…
@@Deliverygrot Okay if you e-mail me via my website then I'll put together some basic pdfs.
@@stephenjduttonwhat is the name of you website so i can send you the email ? or you could provide a link what ever you find more comfortable
