Question: I am not a renderer nor plasterer though I have had a go at plastering some walls. Is it easier to pebble dash than to full render? My impression is that your render need not be perfect. I suppose an important consideration is that it is applied to the same thickness but it need not be perfect because the pebble dashing will disguise. I have walls built out of YTong light aerated concrete, a product used all over Europe except for in conservative UK, I suppose the closest thing over here to it is breeze block but I went and tanked them with Storm Dry. My idea now is to cover them with PVA and put a scratch render. Can I then pebble dash the scratch render? or should I do as you appear to have done and use a special pebble dash plaster? or what? prior to the pebbles. Can you explain a bit better? Thanks for any ideas/help.
Hi Daniel it is fine to dash over the scratch coat with normal and and cement it donst have to be a colour coat it can be grey or you could do a wet dash like this = ua-cam.com/video/AYmSVazqyQs/v-deo.html It sounds like you have the right idea of using pva but make sure it is for outside use or use and sbr instead when pebble dashing you need to be fast just and be well prepared make sure every thing you need is ready and at hand to get the job done speed to make sure it wont joint and that the stones bond well hope this helps i do have more dashing video on the channel feel free to ask questions on them and if i can i will try make a video to help you

Hi, this person told me of a machine that looked like a porcupine that releases the dash to the wall. He said the dash was called "terralina" or something like that. He showed me a wall done in the 80s or even 70s with that. The machine was turned by hand and sent the pebbles to the wall. Am I making any sense?

Get yourself a work platform to put your mix on..getting down to get it then the bending constantly is bad..even 2 saw horses and plywood..pick the mix pan up 1 time, fill it and you saved so much on your back..nevermind the time you spend getting up & down
I hear you buddy thanks for looking out for me , i normally do use a board and stand but as this was just a patch and with it being white was good to keep it in the bucket as the white will stay white and not get contaminated with normal cement from my mortar boards
I think it improved the look as with out this patch there would be a block wall there instead plus when this joint dries it will blend in even better but yes you might very well be better at patching dry dash than myself but for a patch on dry dash witch is very hard to do even for a guy who's been plastering for around 20 years I think its good and so did the builder and owner but thanks for your input Jacky boi
Apologies if I have offended yourself. Like I said seeing your other videos the work is really good but I just didn't think this was its not me being harsh it's me being honest and I would appreciate people being honest with me and not blowing smoke up my jacksie
Honesty is all we can be my friend anything else is just a lie and i am sure you can see that I am a proud plasterer that stands over my work but off course every one has their own ways thoughts and opinions
Well would be constructive if there was any constructive comment left from you mate I can take criticism as good as any but even better from those who walk the walk Your 1st comment =extremely poor. Very very patchy. 2nd = 12.20 onwards shows it very patchy Like i say I can take criticism but this seems more like slander 👍👍
Personally I do think it's constructive criticism. I've seen many videos by yourself and on the whole very nice work but I didn't think this was your best day at the office. That's my personal opinion.
Well everyone is entitled to an opinion but out of 7 plasterers to comment yours was much different by saying extremely poor and in my personal opinion constructive criticism would sound more like this is what I woulda done or would could been done better.... Appreciate that you like the work as a whole but find it harsh that you only seem to have commented now and in my personal opinion negatively ?
I could hardly hear a word he was saying with what sounded like it was blowing a gale and it would have been helpful if he showed the tool he used for applying the pebble dash.
Hi Chris yes this was a windy day for sure but hey have you seen our newer videos much better ,but i will let you be the judge :) = ua-cam.com/video/WXSVHSTqY9Y/v-deo.html
Not sure what your trying to say but this is render and it is meant for the outside of houses and if you look up the word plaster it will come up with cement and gypsum as the word plaster more less means covering ,hence the saying get plastered ,Thanks for watching

Hi Daniel it is fine to dash over the scratch coat with normal and and cement it donst have to be a colour coat it can be grey or you could do a wet dash like this = ua-cam.com/video/AYmSVazqyQs/v-deo.html
It sounds like you have the right idea of using pva but make sure it is for outside use or use and sbr instead when pebble dashing you need to be fast just and be well prepared make sure every thing you need is ready and at hand to get the job done speed to make sure it wont joint and that the stones bond well hope this helps i do have more dashing video on the channel feel free to ask questions on them and if i can i will try make a video to help you
Thanks I am considering it against two other ideas above. Thanks for responding!
No problems Daniel I am hoping to have a few more dashing videos up in the future but not sure if you will have completed your job before then stick around and let me know how you get on :)
Hi daniel that would be very similar to my wet dash finish only smaller and finer this is the tool/gun that is used = amzn.to/2w2iCb1 Tyrolean gun
a nice even job :-) didnt take you to long and it was a big improvement :-D
oh yes home improvement for sure :) thanks for the comment mate :)
Great job Mac , liked , have a great day :) ms
Cheers mate very warm here cant complain about the weather hope all is well with you buddy :)
macplastering Rain and wind here in London , gales as well we had summer for one day ... I got builders coming in next week to repair my ceiling as part of it has dropped .. due to all this rain my flat is sinking ... crap lol
macplastering Cheer Mac .. I am sure all will get sorted in time ... if not I will get you to build me a boat lol , cheers :) ms
They don't even wash their tools before they start, let alone use a board and stand.
Who?
For me...unless you are working on the ground the mix, brick, tile ext..should be waist height..you'll save your body & 🕙
I think if you get some one else to do it will save your body even more
Hope your doing well Thomas mate
Hope your safe and well Eary mate
@@earynikeolangolao5903 true but I have seen to much horror of people skipping with money, dropping materials and skipping, starting and moving to Florida, on & on. Prefer to get my hands dirty.
Ok mate you should sponge in your edges or brush them in with wet paint brush also wet your area before you render no bad job
Hibuddy yea i wet the edges it was only coated a day before hand and new blocks so the suction is very low and a small area but yea I could add that to the next video showing me tidying up the join up close Thanks for watching buddy make sure and sub and be part of the channel mate
Or you can do lower back excercises
Good , but you could see the join line that spoil the look of the wall.
Great video Mac! Have a wonderful day......🐦🐦🐦🐦 Jenny 🐦🐦🐦🐦
Thanks Jenny have a great Day :)
#how #to #pebble #dash #wall #render
Apologies if I have offended yourself. Like I said seeing your other videos the work is really good but I just didn't think this was its not me being harsh it's me being honest and I would appreciate people being honest with me and not blowing smoke up my jacksie
Honesty is all we can be my friend anything else is just a lie and i am sure you can see that I am a proud plasterer that stands over my work but off course every one has their own ways thoughts and opinions
This peble dash bring me bad memories:)
Why what happen ?
You need a camera man!🤣
for sure also an editor be great ... this video is updated on the channel might be a little better but let me know :)
12.20 onwards shows it very patchy
very good when the video is over but look forward to your work videos? that you one day might upload from your faceless profile ???
You're very smart
Thank you Norma means a lot :):)
Only a little bit of constructive criticism. Take it on the chin and don't make the same mistake.👍👍
Well would be constructive if there was any constructive comment left from you mate I can take criticism as good as any but even better from those who walk the walk
Your 1st comment =extremely poor. Very very patchy.
2nd = 12.20 onwards shows it very patchy
Like i say I can take criticism but this seems more like slander 👍👍
wish the audio was better - be better if it was muted and narrated
Hi James mate there is another 4 new versions on the channel all similar patching better sound quality have a peek or let me know and can drop u links

You got any free flow through that looks died😂
sure do mate and water stopper too
Personally I do think it's constructive criticism.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼...
Cheers mate means a lot from another spread :) Have a great day
Here we call it dry dash
Same here mate or pebble dash and wet dash for wet dashing :) have a better few videos up on this
@@macplastering and lots of sand an torment lol
@@ColtSievers1000 You said it brotha :)
A pneumatic mortar sprayer would of worked great for this. It embeds stones nicely. Good job otherwise.
yes would be much quicker but how long dose it take to set up? Thanks for the comment James :)
Fast. Only takes a minute.
cool is the gear heavy and big?
I am sure that it would be great on a big wall :)
y
no. look up mortarsprayer.com . I have this setup and it works good.
Dashing I think not suitable with our climate...looks good for few years only...ive seen it painted....faster than ploating.
white is hard to keep white for sure mate but the golden colour seems to hold well or just grey normal sand and cement
@@macplastering thanks I see guys using ordinary sand white cement ,lime.5 1.1.
Keep up the good work.
Thumbs Up..

Hi Thank you my friend :) Have a great day :)
few bald spots there pal
Haha my hair dont count ;)
extremely poor. Very very patchy.
in what way do you see it patchy ?
You be a plasterer but ure no roughcaster.its drying as ure putting it on ffs.
Can we have the right teminology please. It's sparring on the video.
Pebble dash is exactly what it says, pebbles, not spar!
will call the next one spar dash mate have others call marble chipping too , thanks for watching mate
4/10 marks. Over working the gear on your handboard. Mix to dry. Can see the patch to much
Why stop here you have another 300 plus videos to judge score and criticise thanks for watching and look forward to your further comments
Plaster is not for the exterior. That’s stucco 101. Stick to drywall
Not sure what your trying to say but this is render and it is meant for the outside of houses and if you look up the word plaster it will come up with cement and gypsum as the word plaster more less means covering ,hence the saying get plastered ,Thanks for watching
Very dangerous Wat u doin right there because u got 2 gas canisters on the right of u and if 1 stone pebble touches that u will have a serious explosion on ur hands them pebbles r r like a blow torch they burn through anything 😂
LOL I know man look my hands are ruined from this job have to use fire proofs 😀
