Hey Jordan, I just wanted to say that I recently discovered your channel and I love it! I am a philosophy major in undergrad at the moment and I plan on going to graduate school in philosophy. I have been struggling with the problem of evil lately (feeling its full force as the biggest objection to theism) and these videos have helped me better understand the responses to it. Thanks so much for doing these.
Also, love Dr. Speak! You should ask if he wants to be on again to discuss open theism or agent-causal accounts of free will (something I am currently researching. God bless.
Hello Daniel! Thank you for the kind words. Your comment really encourages me. You are absolutely right in saying that the problem of evil is extremely weighty and challenging. I’m glad you’ve found my videos helpful. Check out my full playlist of videos on the problem of evil if you haven’t already. Also check out my playlist of videos on free will. I’ll be interviewing Alan Rhoda on open theism next week. He will be defending the view.
That's cool that you're interested in phil. grad. school! You should check out Jordan's video entitled, "Want to be a professional philosopher?"
@@TheAnalyticChristian @The Analytic Christian - Would you be willing to host a debate on the orthodox understanding of the incarnation since I am a Christian who believes Jesus was FULLY man during His earthly ministry. Although most would qualify me as a heretic, I believe my understanding is wholly consistent with Scripture and I would be willing to put my model to the test on your channel if you would be willing to host. I have debated this doctrine multiple times which you can find on my channel and it would be an honor for me to expose the true meaning of the incarnation. Thank you for your consideration.

It's interesting that one doesn't absolutely need to give a theodicy in his/her response to the POE. In this video Dr. Speak simply defended skeptical theism and did the Moorean shift. That's usually not the approach that theists take, but I like it.
Good point! Theodicies can surely help though. I found skeptical theism more palatable when I started learning of theodicies I had never thought of on my own. That made me think, "Huh, maybe there are all sorts of reasons for evil that God has that I don't," which made me more open to skeptical theism.
@@andrewmoon1917 Yeah, I think the most robust response to the POE would include some theodicy, skeptical theism, and the eternal treasure that awaits us in heaven. (By the way, I'm a fan of your work, and I've learned a lot about reformed epistemology from you.)
@@nahoalife954 Oh cool, thank you for the kind words! I enjoyed watching you on Sean McDowell's channel. Keep up the music and apologetics and, most importantly, following the Lord. :)
Excellent content. Jordan, your channel is excellent and very helpful!
Excited for divine hiddenness
You both did a very good job at strong-manning the gratuitous evil argument. To me as an atheist this argument is the death-knell for theistic belief.
Hey Jordan, I was wondering if you could do some interviews looking at arguments for Universalism and Annihilationism? I grew up thinking that ECT was the only option and the other two were just the product of pure wishful thinking. But as I've gotten older, I've wondered about those other views, and so now I really would like to see some of the most robust defenses of those views as it isn't something I've seen talked about a lot on the Christian Philosophy/Theology part of UA-cam.
Yes. I plan to do those types of interviews around May and June. So be on the lookout for those. Thanks for your suggestions

@@TheAnalyticChristian Thank you for your consideration.
Cool video! I’m not sure I understand the idea of a “non resistant non believer”… If they are choosing not to believe, aren’t they by definition “resistant”? There doesn’t seem to be anything holding them back from humbling themselves and believing, aside from their own personal choice to resist it.
Is hyper intellectualism really a valid defence against believing something in your heart and that not being considered a type of resistance? I think I would claim it is resisting humility before God, thinking you must know all the answers in order to believe.
The answer to your question is no. Merely not believing does not make then resistant. In the next interview we discuss this quite a bit, so watch that one and I think you will see why.

Okay, sounds good. Thanks for the heads up Jordan 👍

@@JAYJAYBEBE I hope you aren’t married, or if you are that you don’t really believe that. You should choose to take a different view, because your marriage won’t last very long if you don’t.
We choose to believe things all the time. If you don’t choose to believe you love your wife, and act in such a way that cultivates that belief (also based in choices), than it ain’t going to last. A marriage isn’t successful for a lifetime based solely on a sort of butterflies in the tummy type of feeling of love. It takes effort and choices.
That’s one example.
@@JAYJAYBEBE Well, I hope you aren't married. Active choices effect how one feels about things. If feelings are your ultimate master, dang, that must be a rough life for you.
