I use lavender and mint in my classroom. I love that it's safe, smells great, and supposedly helps keep bugs away.
Melissa.... I would love to listen to you talk about essential oils for 15 minutes 👂😉
Me too
+Vironika Smith Me too!!!!
+Vironika Smith facebook has a group called "New Using Essential Oils Safely" They should be taken seriously. They can cause issues with your health if you do not know what you are doing.
+amie a thanks for the tip!
Me too! 😊
I was having a problem with mice in house. Nothing was working until I found peppermint oil! I put some on dry corn cobs in a mesh bag and some on cotton balls. The mice hate it!! I actually watched one jump a full 6 inches away from it!! Got rid of the mice and totally safe for my dog too!!!
Kimber C Great tip! About how long would you say that scent lasts? How often would you have replace them?
Peppermint oil is considered toxic to dogs/cats.
Kimber C a peppermint plant in your house will help keep away spiders etc too.
Peppermint oil is safe for dogs but toxic to cats
Lavender and mint is my favourite scent combination for a linen spray
I also use Orange with a dish soap water mixture for a kitchen countertop degreaser spray which leaves a fresh smell in my kitchen
Have uses them for quite a long time. Ylang-ylang is probably among my favs because it smells amazing on itself
My favorite recipe is thyme herb and essential oil, lemon and tea tree in apple vinegar
Peppermint and Orange
Love essential oils! Love your videos too!
Love your videos! I would not mind a video on you talking about essential oils. =)
Jasmine and bergamot is my holy combo. So much happiness! :D
I would LOVE a long chit chatty essential oil video. Like if you went through and talked about all your favorites ect. I like to put your videos on loops while I'm cleaning. It's like we're hanging out and cleaning together LOL.
Rachel Richey lol. That’s cute. 😄
I second that! I like hearing chats about cleaning products...even long ones
Am I the only one who would've preferred a vid over a blog post? I have time to listen to a vid...but not time to read a post :(
Lately I've been using a lot of tree tee oil and peppermint to clean
Do you clean with essential oils?
yes
yes
Yes, I'm using sweet orange oil and spearmint
+sarah C. i clean with speremint too
yes
*I use NOW eucalyptus, lavender, rosemary, tea tree and peppermint to clean.*
✔️💯
I alternated vanilla and lavender on cotton balls and put in small glass bottles (that used to be spice jars) on each shelf of my linen cupboards cuz they get so stank. I also wiped the shelves down with the same mixture. All I want is to pull out fresh smelling towels and bed linens--not ones that smell like they've spent years in Granny's attic! I also made a bug repellent using water and peppermint essential oil..
harajukuloverstour
10 drops of jasmine, 5 drops of lemongrass and 5 drops of sandlewood is my favorite for the all purpose cleaner. love it! 😍
That's a really stupid combination. Citronella, Lemongrass and Eucapyptus is more like it and you need way more than 20 drops.
Also it's best to use glass with essential oils cause over time they eat through the plastic
Yes, I have started cleaning with essential oils in the past few months. Tea tree oil, peppermint, and lemon mainly. When I have reduced my mainstream commercial home products I hope to go mostly EO's + the usual suspects like vinegar and baking soda for home cleaning. :)
Fave combo scents: peppermint with citrus (grapefruit, orange or lemon).
An allergy buster combo- lemon, lavender and peppermint. Use it in my aromatherapy diffuser when allergies are at all time high.
And the young living purification blend + lemon for odor eliminating smells REALLY nice as well!
Grapefruit and peppermint is my fav!
can u make videos about organizing the house and organizing the fridge ?
Now, I DO clean with them, thanks to you!
I would LOVE to sign up for an online “All About Essential Oils Educational Course” that you would teach!
A favorite scent combo of mine is sage & citrus! ❤️😊
I recently started using vinegar, water, and citrus essential oil for cleaning the bathrooms and/or kitchen and then using vinegar, water, and lemongrass essential oil to mop our floors. Smells amazing!
I clean with essential oils! I actually use them everyday in many other ways as well. My fav combo at the moment is lemon 🍋 lavender🌸 peppermint🌿
love the topic but I was expecting some examples - guess I'd rather watch/listen the video than read the blog - I actually have more time to listen than read - sorry but I feel there should have been some content
NOW Brand essential oils are what I use too! They are superb quality. I've visited the factory. In answer to your question my very favourite scent is LIME! I make a DIY perfume with it and a little vanilla essential oil mixed in 75% alcohol and 25% water.
Loving this! Loving this! Loving this! I had to subscribe after watching this video. Now I'm watching all of your videos. I just poured a cup of juice and grabbed my charger cause I'm gonna watch a marathon of your vids.
My husband and I went to a resort in Cancun and it smelled amazing. They used rosemary, eucalyptus and peppermint oil throughout the resort. We use this combination in our diffusers at home. It is so invigorating and relaxing at the same time....like being on vacation :)
Oh I will return this!
I'm glad you addressed the safety issues for folks with chronic conditions. If you have epilepsy: Rosemary, fennel, sage, eucalyptus, hyssop, camphor and spike lavender are not recommended as essential oils, as they can lower your seizure threshold. (Regular lavender is okay!)
I've been adding tea tree oil into my water and vinegar mixture for mopping my floors.
Thank you for the video and the blog. I wanted to clean with essential oil, but I didn't know how to use them and wich to buy. It's very helpful!
I discoved your channel a few weeks ago and I love it! It motivate me to clean my home and it never been so clean. I have two dogs (great dane), six cats and a boyfriend, it was a bit overwelming, but with you, it's becoming natural to clean and to keep my home clean. Thank you again!
I Love the little dog part of this.
I like DoTerra oils. Peppermint for my headaches and lavender for calming.
on minute 2:33 your were spraying something that looked like it had oranges in there i would love to know what is it thanks

I was at a Wellness Expo and one of the vendors told me that "100% Pure" doesn't mean much for essential oils (at least in Canada). He said even NOW brand oils could be heavily cut with other oils. Thoughts?
It's true, there is no governing body that certifies whether or not an oil is pure. The only way to know for sure is to look at the oil's GC/MS testing results. Any aromatherapist would be trained in how to read them. NOW oils have been great, the GC/MS reports I've seen from them show that they are pure. My other go-to brand that has great testing is Plant Therapy. The big companies like YL and DT have some good and some bad, some cut with synthetics.
dōTERRA oils aren’t cut with anything IF you buy them from the company or an authorized wellness advocate. They are not guaranteed if you get them through amazon or a third party seller.
I got my essential oils right from winners. Also from homesense
I love cleaning with essential Oils they smell so good. My fav combo is sweet prance and peppermint. Its so up listing and crisp
You are so awesome and amazing! Because of you, I'm just starting to get into essential oils and I learned so much from this video and your blog post. I took notes! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! I would love any more vids on EOs!
Peppermint extract can you mix that with essential oils
No. That is for cooking.
Great video thank you. I love putting a couple drops each of lavender and peppermint essential oils on the filter in my vacuum cleaner then the whole house smells delicious when we hoover😊💐
can you do a video about pantrys and medicime cabinets
That’s awesome I use all those 3 brands NOW , AROMA FORCE DIVINE ESSENCEs ... I also use Doterra... Naka Woolzies Difeel ...
Thank you so much Melissa. I have been very interested in buying EO for a year now, but was scared to buy any of them. Now that you've taught me what to look for, I can't wait to go shopping!
Lol blooper! Melissa I use lavender essential oil in my cleaning. I actually made my own soap using essential oils. They are awesome! 😊
I have seen in my friend's house to keep one essential oil near kitchen sink...is there any particular reason???
To mask food odor? Same as you would put essential oil sticks in a restroom to keeps the foul odor don.
I just wanted to say thank you for all the amazing videos you post, and also how much I love my new Maker's cloths! I cleaned with them for the first time today and they work so great. I also love that the tags set them apart from my other cloths so I can keep them all together. :)
I love essential oils for cleaning! I use essential oils for numerous things. I make and scent homemade soap and lotions, I also make my own laundry soap (I love lavender in laundry items) and dryer 'sheets'. (just spray the mixture on an item from the washer, or preferably a washcloth, toss it in the dryer and you have great smelling laundry)
Melissa, you can talk for 15 minutes about essential oils on your personal channel!! And please, DO so. We love listening to you! xxxx
Rosemary, citrus (lemon or orange), clove, cinnamon Mmmm! Mmm!
That dog is too cute lol
I buy only wholesale and I almost only organic essential oils and I only use affordable ones to clean and yes essential oils are the best cleaners for almost anything . Essential oils are amazing at cleaning metals, plastic , wood, walls and leather. I just don't use expensive ones like Neroli, Melissa and Heylychrysum.
Melissa I love you to the moon and back!! Is it possible to turn off those annoying suggested videos popups during the video? From what I've read it has to be done on the poster's end. They distract us from your awesomeness. I don't like that. I will watch all of your videos without being reminded. You are the greatest cleaning inspiration and you are beautiful!!!
💌✔ Cleaning with Tea Tree essential oil outside on the balcony! It worked great, I used the cleaning tip for 2 Cups water, 1 teaspoon dish soap and 10 drops essential oils. Now my next project is what to use next to make it smell great? Do you have a favorite essential oil to match with Tea Tree?
You have way over $250 of essential oils for this video. Would it not be more effective and cheaper to use something like Dr. Bronner's and add a drop or two of what you want to that already amazing cleaning solution? I am a big fan of your videos and a big fan of essential oils, but prefer to breath them in or apply to my body.
Lemon + mint and lavender + lemon are my favourites :-)
Does adding Essential oils for glass Cleaner makes my glass sticky ??? ( Wanna know essential oils are oily or sticky ) ???
Some of them are not safe for wood finish?I like them just somtime scary to clean on wood, pkastick... Stons...
I kno this off subject but do you have eating healthy videos like whay organic will detox the body.more energy etc
Question...I love the fragrance combination of lavender and vanilla. I have lavender essential oil, but I know that a vanilla essential oil does not exist. Do you have any suggestions of something that I could use (maybe some kind of fragrance oil) that would satisfy my longing for lavender/vanilla? Thanks a bunch...love these videos!
Maybe vanilla essence? Like the one you use for baking etc.
I know this is an old comment, but there is in fact a Vanilla CO2, which is kind of like an essential oil and can be used the same way. I hope you find some!
Here is mixture I like best. Mix grapefruit and spearmint in a 3:1 ratio for a pleasant fresh scent. It does not smell how you think it will.
How getting rid of the smell weed/🚬 with essential oils in your house?
How getting rid of awful smells in the kitchen with essential oils like dirty dishes in the sink?
How to cleaning my dishes with essential oil treatment for dish soap?
what kind of essential oils are there? Are the different essential oils for different uses health safe? May I use a paraphin (to make candles) essential oil for cleaning purposes? Does it have the same effect?
I love love love! lavender and peppermint
Bergamont, lemongrass and sweet orange, smells just like fruit loops ;)
I use essential oils all the time is really part of my every day !!!!
I haven't made my own cleaners yet with oils but want too..receipes please.
Any one know where I can get some essential oils that ships to Australia or some online Australian shops?? I don't have a health food shop near by. Thanks 😀
+T from Sydney I got gifted some Mount Retour essential oils (an Australian brand) and they seem pretty good!
Try Flora and Fauna, its an Australian vegan and ethical products website, also has Afterpay to make purchases more affordable. I absolutely love and recommend them. floraandfauna.com.au
The dog is so funny. I agree about essential oils. Quality is key.
So grateful you did this video! I love using essential oils and post my tips/tricks etc with them every week.
Thanks for sharing such valuable information . 👍
FYI, I would love a 30 minute video, especially on essential oils!
Yes I would too
If its for cleaning the floors, does it have to be therapeutic grade?
Citrus, love lime and orange and grapefruit so all citrus
I would love to use essential oils but they are usually expensive. Where can I find inexpensive ones? I've seen some at Marshalls, Ross & TJMAXX but I'm not sure how authentic they are. Thanks
I don't clean with them. I just use them in a diffuser.
You have a very lively and wonderful video presence
But those of us w pets...cannot use essential oils. I have dogs, cats, birds, reptiles. The latter two are extremely sensitive so I cannot take a chance. Anything else you recommend to keep a home smelling nice?
Not true! Do some research not all EO are poisonous. What is harmful are the chemical commercial products.
if they are diluated are the divine essence good for hair ?
I love lavender with orange. Yummm!
I love essential oils! I buy fragrance free dish soap and hand soap and then add my own fragrance with essential oils. I love lemon/sweet orange in the kitchen, lavender in the bathroom or sometimes a little peppermint/lavender combo. I also add a few drops to my DIY cleaners, which have replaced the Method brand cleaners I used to buy because of their scent, but now thanks to CMS, I can customize my own! :)
Oh! As a natural FABRIC SOFTENER! I love to use a few drops of Lavender Oil ("chill pill" by AuraCacia) on an old sock; a bright/odd color socks makes it easier to not lose track of.
And you use how? I'm new to cleaning, forgive me if the answer is obvious.
You can put a few drops of Essential OIl on
a cloth, toss into dryer with laundry load. I use
a clean, bright colored odd sock...just helps me keep track of my home-made "dryer sheet"~
where can I buy essential oils ? I have never seen them in supermarkets .should I look for it in a pharmacy ?
I found mine in the pharmacy at Walmart
+Lucy's Life thank you
same problem I am facing :-(
Health food stores!!
fasmina kasim health section have them, usually with the vitamins. I have also found them in the cleaning aisle as well as the makeup/ beauty departments where you might find scented bath salts and bath bombs.
Fun video and great article! I use animaleo's oils so they are safe for my dogs. I'm going to try your thyme disinfectant - I love the smell of thyme and the spray reminds me of the wipes I buy from 7th generation.
ok I know one video you haven't done! & it has to do with your laundry routine.. " Crystal Wash" the natural balls you wash with so you don't have to keep buying laundry detergent!! ;) I know your all about diy natural cleaning products..
Haha, Canadian pronounces the 'h' in 'herb', unlike American, they pronounce it as 'erb'
I love essential oils. I've recently spent quite a bit of time researching their benefits and finding proof that these little suckers actually work. Yes, this is what it took to get me sold. I intend to start making the DIY products on this channel but I can't justify throwing away my half used store bought products yet. That would be wasteful. But, once they are gone, I will jump aboard the DIY household cleaner ship. As of right now, the only times I have used EO's are for my humidifier and for my husband. When I get sick or I'm just not feeling 100% I put a few drops of Lavender and Tea Tree Oil in the inhalant spot on my humidifier. Lavender is nice and relaxing while Tea Tree is an antiseptic and it's good for the skin. I also used both in a homemade lotion for my hubs. He has severe eczema on his wrists, and he has been to numerous dermatologists and all the topical steroids they've given him don't really work. So we combine a mixture of pure unrefined shea butter, avocado oil, coconut oil, lavender EO, and Tea Tree EO and melt all of the above together. This has been the only thing so far that works to relieve the itching and diminish the eczema break outs. Plus it smells nice. :)P.S. I love your channel! :)
I'll always nag for you to come out with your own EO line, like the clothes..which I LOVE...so get on going. Ha ha. My fav EO combo I use for washing floors is eucalyptus mint...and Lavender for a pillow spray.
Thank you so very much And also
Where do you buy your oils? I bought one at a health food store and a flea market. Just wondered where else they might be.
Amazon
Aren’t u only suppose to use glass bottles?
At 4:44 ... Misspelled website? 😅
+Julie Truong yep! someone's really gonna get fired this time!
+Clean My Space 😀
+Clean My Space DAMMIT CHAD!!!
Just human error-no one is perfect.

I would ,like to know more about cleaning with essential oils, and what not to clean with essential oils. I have sinus issues (persistent rhinitis to be exact -or year round hayfever/allergies to be simple!) that react when around cleaning products. They tend to be products that have bleach/ammonia, or the synthetic cleaning version of alcohol within them -so even the bleach multi-purpose cleaners diluted or alcohol wipes can set it off. I have recently used a combination of cleaning ingredients (a general purpose cleaner of the type that you are supposed to dilute that I can tolerate and as an added bonus makes everything shiny, and dish soap/washing up liquid that is cheap but works better than the posh brands AND makes things shiny) with some water in a sprayer bottle I bought. I have combined these together both with and without water before and experienced no issues, so I thought that adding a standard disinfectant to it (added a capful, with a small cap) would be brilliant to counteract the rather extensive mold problem I am experiencing (I'm in a rental property and the mold issue was there before I arrived, the landlord and landlady know about it and do not wish to do anything, I have the powder type dehumidifiers in the problem area.). I found out that the disinfectant on it's own is another allergy trigger (as I felt the allergies start when I poured out the capful, and I had some go down the bottle when I put the cap back on). Opening a window isn't really an answer as I am near a road that has trucks on, and fumes effect the allergy thing too! I was hoping that essential oils (other than tea tree oil!) would help with disinfecting/anti-mold/antiseptic with my basic cleansers.
I clean practically everything in my house with Young Living Thieves Essential Oil. Love it! Also, I just received my Maker's cleaning clothes - Large Space Kit! I love, love, love 'em!!!
Vets know as much about Essential Oils as my butcher knows about root canals. Some good information on UA-cam. But at least you gave a warning ... sorta. 😊
I use all your cleaning recipes!!
I have a question. Since you also have cats, aren't you worried about poisoning them? I never use essential oils any more because most of them are toxic to cats.
If you want to get the benefits from essential oils please look into Young Living Essential Oils. The quality is the highest and it can actually bring a peace to your home.
T from Sidney -- I can get you essential oils shipped to Australia. How can I reach you?
I use essential oils in a diffuser to make the house smell amazing!! :) Peppermint and Eucalyptus is my favorite combo for that. Cinnamon by itself is also a favorite!! I use Citronella, peppermint, and eucalyptus for a bug repellent. It smells sooooooo good and no mosquito's are snacking on me!! :)
Happy Holidays. I LOVE your cleaning videos. They also make me motivated to clean more !!!
Hi dear! Could you please let us know why the use of S-O can affect breastfeeding. Thanks so much & I really love your channel!
I don't clean with them but I do use them for room deoderizers. My favorites are lavendar & honeysuckle because they both bring back happy memories from my childhood. I never mix the scents together---that would just be wrong! I need to checkout your blog & learn more.
Not only are they good for cleaning, but also have health benefits. Like peppermint oil and or lavender oil helps with migraines when diluted and massaged into the skin.
