It definitely subverts the original's point that she was earning her keep at their home. This could be part of that empowerment Zegler had talked about. Simply by her casting, the movie subverts the reason why she was named Snow White and the shots of the lead actress in this trailer looks to do away with the kind innocence displayed in the original movie. A couple days ago someone posted a good portion of the Whistle While You Work scene and it wasn't good. Snow White was showing the dwarfs how to clean up after themselves and the dwarfs themselves looked Polar Express-strange. Worse, the clip ended with a group pose at the camera making it seem like it would look more at home on a stage. The Disney faithful will no doubt spend their money watching and loving this movie but I think Zegler has so damaged herself and the movie that it would be hard to see her as her character.
Interesting point about using the "live action remakes" as a method of reclaiming expiring copyrights. That's the first reason I've heard for making them that actually makes sense.

I think Snow White is a beautiful film. Because it's hand drawn, there's a grace and softness to the lines and colors. Nothing can measure up to those shimmering, wind swept vultures. And, yes she cleans the house, in hope that the occupants will treat her kindly in turn.
The dwarfs all look like cheap dollar tree Christmas ornaments. Plus it looks like Snow White, instead of cleaning their home in exchange for shelter, has gone all management on them and is now directing them to clean up their space. They should have shelved this atrocity years ago.
If they needed a diverse snow white they should have gotten Jenna Ortaga. She is a lot nicer and can pull off the sweet innocent princess look. All I see from Rachel is smug brat.

In the trailer, we see her get sucked down underground by the trees, almost as though she's going through a bad trip. We see the Apple being dipped into something as though if you dip it into a certain solution. The reshoots might just be used to help soften it up a little butts I still think they might be going that direction the way you said.
They were very, very deliberate in the shots they chose for this trailer. They showed just enough to mirror the original, and a few things that conveyed action and wouldn't necessarily be out of place. They are not showing all the new things in this movie. There's still a belief that the bandits are completely separate from the dwarves, Disney did NOT change bandits to dwarves, these are two separate groups of characters. I don't think Disney took the feedback and revised this as much as you think they did.
Fairest can be understood as most beautiful, not who has lightest skin and nothing else, but between those 2 it's not even a contest. She wouldn't be the fairest even if her skin was white as snow.

Besides which, Rachel Zegler's Sooo White would not ever allow a male of any kind have anything to do with saving her from anything whatsoever. This is not a live action remake. This is another animated movie with some live action elements. And even if RZ had not been such a twerp in interviews, the look of the dwarfs in this trailer has absolutely turned me off of seeing this. On the day Snow White 2025 releases, I intend to rent and watch Snow White 1937.
