If you know how to, it'll simply be a matter of finding another person or two who can as well. Once you get it it's not hard at all. And my team quickly got it so fast we had a minute to a minute and a half left each time even with only two of us knowing the outside. One time it had both of us inside so I just died in order to swap. Not a big deal.

I am also unsure how he u bound the ability unless he bound that key to something else and just never rebound it. I think he has class ability bound on his titan because he constantly uses the wall.

He constantly unbinds stuff he doesn't use often seemingly because he has very limited space. I have no idea why he unbinds dodge though. Sword block I get. Edit: Just realized this is not exactly what you asked. Dodge is in fact just the hunter ability key, at least to my knowledge.

I did the 4th encounter with friends and we decided to do it completely blind. It took us like 6 hours (not on challenge mode) and was honestly the most fun thing I've ever done in this game. The amount of theories we had going about how it worked and all of the testing was really fun, and when we managed to get a clean run and clear it was a great feeling.
if you dont know yet, Subjucators take bonus damage from weapons matching their darkness type! Stasis subjucators take extra damage from stasis, and strand takes extra damage from strand.
additional note: their hp is for some reason considered shield (thus the above comment). that being said, microcosm is INCREDIBLE against subjugators. (use it in dual destiny if you haven’t, trust)

I couldn't stand and watch the health bar, too busy doing it solo so I would throw some shit and then had to move. I guess you had more time while your Fireteam was busy doing all the work :)
Funny how at first it’s pretty straightforward with matching the shape to power certain totems, then the last encounter are like final exams for a Geometry class
tip for Titans on encounter 4: the fire balls on Pyrogale gauntlets will be visible even if the statue isn’t visible so if one Titan is using the gauntlets you can guarantee a ghost resurrection without worry
You have no idea how excited I was when your team got to the final encounter when Elysium had been on it for a while, then Redeem and Cross’s team eventually got there as well. It’s unfortunate that you couldn’t get the W, but it was an exciting (long) raid race to tune into.

Finally, love Kackis but his video explaining these encounters were everywhere, got lost mulitple times listening to him, only 5mins into this video but understood everything clear as day.
Hey Datto; for the third encounter our raid team encountered the following: Each Totem or whatever you want to call it, has a different symbol than the shape of resonance it generates. Therefore, by calling out what shape your totem needs each reader can switch to the totem that *their starting totem generates* and close that. This means you do not have to miss a plate as all three of you can just call out 'ready' and 'move' and then rotate. This prevents time loss for needing to kill Subjugators and doesn't complicate it that much.
You can generally swap adjacent 'pong' players if the all three ping pongs are synced up, doing it after all three pong players are at x3. Mid pong swaps with whichever one they need to go to, then on the next cycle, the other two players swap. On the third room, the middle pong seems to have 1 of each shape of resonance, so you might need to figure out which shape of resonance the sides have, and pick up whichever wasn't called out last, then do the same thing.
It was honestly such a fun encounter. My group decided to do it blind and not look at other guides and pov's, took us like 6 hours but it was probably the most fun thing I've ever done in this game.
The only good encounter in this raid. And DAMN is it a good one! I love how they implemented the fashion and Ghosts into it. I almost feel like that was the beginning of it. Someone said "Let's make the player's fashion and Ghosts matter" and then they came up with the mechanics. Masterfully done and a great send off to the series.
The enhancement prism and ice cream cone in the fourth encounter explanation really made me laugh for some reason. Great guide Datto, I was really confused until I watched your guide. Keep up the great work!
10:15 You can leave the arena after stepping in without messing up the mechanic but there must be at least one person with the buff still inside it. My team juggled the boss’ agro by jumping in and out of the arena and it worked pretty consistently.

Its been 10 years, wow. I remember how I found Datto. It was from a video with LVLCAP that did BF4 vids and he played with Datto in VoG when it launched. Good job, Datto! This raid looks great visually and I'm glad they simplified the symbols.

Hey I want to comment something here about Verity (Encounter 4). Based on my experience and evidence heard from others, the only possible way to do the encounter is by first doubling up shapes as described by Datto in the video. IT IS NOT AN EXTRA STEP, it is the 1st step. If the method of just trading to the final required shapes does work, it appears to be highly inconsistent, my team while doing everything right for an hour straight could not get this method to work whatsoever. By this I mean that the glass WILL NOT break until the ghost mechanic has been done and all inside players have traded their starting shapes (even if they are shapes you need)
Note on the 4th encounter, I believe it takes FOUR total trades on the inside "shadow realm" group to trigger the ghost event. Therefore, if everyone spawns in already with ONE of their shapes on the back board, there would only need to be THREE transactions to get everyone their TWO matching shapes. Then, so a player doesn't get sent THREE shapes at once, it is best to coordinate which direction you will be sending one of your shapes first. For our group, we used clockwise first (which in this scenario would trigger the ghost event) then counterclockwise second, when we return back. The issue with having 3 shapes on your back board is that since there are only 2 knights, you MAY not get the shape you need to drop right away and could run out of time.
Note: at 3:50-ish, he waits for the ruing of light to appear above the plate before stepping on it. This is unnecessary, as the ring is a warning that you're running out of time. You can step on the plate as soon as the charge goes into it.
37:33 my advice that really helps with encounter 4 ghost replacement for 5 players….the player left alone can see the guardians name near their body and ghost around the room… (at least our team could) therefore this is no reason to inspect their ghost. Instead with everyone separated, walk over to a guardians name and pick up his ghost and call out you have it…. That person speaks up and says what they look like (for example- Crota Warlock) Then the whoever can see the Crota Warlock calls out the position they see them… ghost is dunked and 1 person is revived. Then they walk to next persons name and grab the ghost and call it the name. That person describes their guardian and the person who can see them quickly speaks up and said the position… Ghost is dunked Rinse and repeat. This is the LFG friendly way of doing this part of the encounter. Obviously if you know the people and know what they look like…someone who was subsequently revived and sees the outline of someone they recognize they can run to their name and grab thier ghost and dunk it to speed it up. I feel this way works better with LFG than the way Datto described because the time is so short… unnecessary callouts by people saying the guardians they can see when it doesn’t correspond to the ghost currently picked up can at least confuse or slow them down.. at worse cause them to dunk in the wrong spot and be wiped. By limiting the callouts to the name of the player whose ghost was picked up, that player staying what they look like, and where someone can see that description… callouts are minimized efficiently to give LFG groups who don’t have the benefit of easily recognizing their fellow guardians to speed things up after they are revived like groups who know each other likely could do as they revive and can see the outline of someone they recognize and can simply quickly grab their ghost and dunk no callouts needed. Not having that benefit means you need to most out of the short time you have to revive everyone and we found the best way to do that was explained above. Re: 4th encounter - The witness kills the people in the shadow realm after 6 total shapes have been transferred in the shadow realm. The strat here can be to force this or wait until after dissector has finished. To force have everyone just send 2 shapes right away, we tried NOT to send the shape a statue was holding to that guardian. To not force, start working on the correct shapes to trade in the shadow realm but make sure to not send a total of 6 shapes, send the 6th shape to get the witness, place the ghosts go back in make your 3D shape to go through the glass. When putting the ghosts back in the statues, you need to do in order from left to right, if not you won’t be able to leave the shadow realm. We kept not being able to leave the shadow realm even after confirming we had the 3D shapes correct. So we made sure to put ghosts back in from left to right in order and that seemed to be the key.

As of TWID 6/20/24 you do not need to worry about matching surge, they are editing this next week (Tuesday 6/25) all weapons will intrinsically receive the 25% surge buff. Keep in mind if you are -5 light under the recommended light level in a raid you will receive 36% more damage. If you are +15 light over the recommended light level inside a raid you will only receive 3% additional damage. Note that the statistics above are for normal mode I believe.
The first step of giving everybody their shape in encounter 4 is required. I tested skipping this part and it doesn’t work. When u complete trading everybody their shapes a bell will chime signaling that this was done correctly
The simplest way to explain the outside team’s job for Verity (4th encounter) is: keep dissecting the matching shapes of the statues until you can’t do it anymore. Meaning dissect a triangle off the triangle statue then a square off the square statue. Then check everything and repeat. Just don’t try to do the same statue twice in a row and this will quickly solve itself. This is the way you explain the trio team for Verity starting at 33:00 and this is how I’ve been explaining it to people. I do have one comment about the triple double. It only needs 3 swaps / pairs of dissections if you got REALLY unlucky and they match the rooms they are on (ie sphere on circle statue). Every other combo, including triple double on the wrong rooms (ie sphere on square statue) requires two pairs of dissections.
23:54 in fact u need to do it for consistently get out of the room, if you try to escape the shadow realm without interacting with both statues on your room, even if both team make the final 3D form, the glass will not allow the players to pass by (3h of suffering told us that, and that was the only consistent way we found to get all out), appart of that great guide and awesome job here
Microcosm works nicely for witness DPS, mainly because you can be very mobile with it and hit your DPS peak without ADSing and missing the attack telegraphs. I ran it with The Supremacy, then built into kinetic surges and scavengers and it went great!

A small tip for fourth encounter that my team discovered and was pretty helpful; if you have a titan on your team, have them run pyrogales. Not just because the exotic is good, but because it bugs out their statue for the ghost mechanic. If the titan is a player who dies during the ghost mechanic, you will be able to see smalls “gems” where the flames would be on the pyrogales. Thus, if you know that you picked up their ghost, you can run back to the statues, look for those “gems” and immediately bank their ghost, bringing them back almost instantly. 😁👍🏻
I love you Datto, This is how my team did inside and there are different methods to doing inside but this is the easiest and simplest to do so hopefully it becomes the standard
Last Wish was all about various symbols, speed, team coordination, lock picking, and killing an oversized salamander followed by a relay race. Final Shape, Bungie decided to take us all the way back to kindergarten and embrace the kinder-guardian meme and double down on the "shape" aspect of "Final Shape" and learning how to share a plate signal by passing it back and forth like a ball. Just my opinion, but their total lack of creativity for what is the final raid for their Light and Darkness saga is a let down. Although, gz to the team for making the most convoluted and unique 4th encounter they possibly could. Would've been awesome to see that creativity spread around to more than just one encounter where it feels like most of their effort went into it just to purposefully making a Vault 2.0 sorta encounter. Thanks for the vid, this will help immensely when I start sherpaing groups for it.
I fully agree. I knew that this was a let down just from watching Datto's first clear video, but of course all of the Bungie Butt B*****s were all saying "It's the best raid ever made!" and "It's better than Last Wish!". The fourth encounter is a masterpiece, but the rest is pathetically lame. They took "The Final Shape" too literally, and it's actually cringey and stupid. Every encounter feels so lame and boring, like we've seen these mechanics and this aesthetic before, and it's already been done better. Even the name of the raid sounds lame as all crap. Again, Verity (fourth encounter) is a masterpiece up there with The Vault and Riven, but that's literally all this raid has going for it. Vault Of Glass was better than this crap. At least it was inspired and looked unique.
Cant wait to see your opinions on the raid, i think its easily the best we’ve ever seen. Every encounter requires mechanical understanding from each player and each of them feel great even in replay.
If I'm not mistaken I believe for 4th encounter you need to make sure everyone in the shadow realm has two of their own shape first then send them along. That step is needed to cleanse the shadows and actually be able to leave the shadow realm. At least me and my team never could leave without doing that step, something Kackis forgot to mention in his guide
This is correct. If you do not swap your 2 starting symbols, you will be trapped even if you have the correct 2 symbols. E.g. you are holding triangle. Shadow is triangle circle. You cant just trade off the triangle for a square, you need to have swapped the circle.
And also with the Witness noticing mechanic, where he kills the 3 shadow realm people, it can also be forced when the shadow realm users deposit their second same shape to the other players. E. G. The player with circle sends one circle to middle statue then when they send their second circle to the right statue immediately after this the witness will notice
Fun fact on 4th: if you use Pyrogale as a Titan you will always be able to tell where the titan is supposed to go, as even without seeing the statue the Pyrogale light effects are visible. Haven't tested it for other armor on other classes. But yea, at least with pyrogale titan you can never get it wrong. EDIT: also for final boss, you can tell he will do a Test not just from the audio scream. The hand you shoot last before the test will also glow more and brighter orange than it normally does when you take it out. So a scream + bright orange visuals = test incoming.
Hey Datto, you can despawn the hands that do bombardment in the 2nd encounter. If you stand in the bombardment indicator, you get a buff and can shoot the band on the wrist.
Tip for the 4th encounter: A quick solution to figuring out what the 3D shape is made of is to imagine what it looks like from the top and the side. For instance, a Sphere from the top is a Circle, and from the side is a Circle, so that statue is carrying Circle + Circle. A Cylinder is a Circle from the top, and a Square from the side, so that statue is carrying Circle + Square. A Pryamid looks like a Square from the top, a Triangle from the side, so it is carrying Square + Triangle. This cuts out having to memorize a chart and helps you see all the shapes independently.

10:15 You can leave the arena after stepping in without messing up the mechanic but there must be at least one person with the buff still inside it. My team juggled the boss’ agro by jumping in and out of the arena and it worked pretty consistently.

Its been 10 years, wow. I remember how I found Datto. It was from a video with LVLCAP that did BF4 vids and he played with Datto in VoG when it launched. Good job, Datto! This raid looks great visually and I'm glad they simplified the symbols.

Hey I want to comment something here about Verity (Encounter 4).
Based on my experience and evidence heard from others, the only possible way to do the encounter is by first doubling up shapes as described by Datto in the video. IT IS NOT AN EXTRA STEP, it is the 1st step.
If the method of just trading to the final required shapes does work, it appears to be highly inconsistent, my team while doing everything right for an hour straight could not get this method to work whatsoever. By this I mean that the glass WILL NOT break until the ghost mechanic has been done and all inside players have traded their starting shapes (even if they are shapes you need)
Note on the 4th encounter, I believe it takes FOUR total trades on the inside "shadow realm" group to trigger the ghost event. Therefore, if everyone spawns in already with ONE of their shapes on the back board, there would only need to be THREE transactions to get everyone their TWO matching shapes. Then, so a player doesn't get sent THREE shapes at once, it is best to coordinate which direction you will be sending one of your shapes first. For our group, we used clockwise first (which in this scenario would trigger the ghost event) then counterclockwise second, when we return back. The issue with having 3 shapes on your back board is that since there are only 2 knights, you MAY not get the shape you need to drop right away and could run out of time.
It takes 4 so if you all get the right stuff you distribute at the same time to complete before even going

Note: at 3:50-ish, he waits for the ruing of light to appear above the plate before stepping on it. This is unnecessary, as the ring is a warning that you're running out of time. You can step on the plate as soon as the charge goes into it.

37:33 my advice that really helps with encounter 4 ghost replacement for 5 players….the player left alone can see the guardians name near their body and ghost around the room… (at least our team could) therefore this is no reason to inspect their ghost.
Instead with everyone separated, walk over to a guardians name and pick up his ghost and call out you have it…. That person speaks up and says what they look like (for example- Crota Warlock)
Then the whoever can see the Crota Warlock calls out the position they see them… ghost is dunked and 1 person is revived.
Then they walk to next persons name and grab the ghost and call it the name. That person describes their guardian and the person who can see them quickly speaks up and said the position… Ghost is dunked
Rinse and repeat. This is the LFG friendly way of doing this part of the encounter.
Obviously if you know the people and know what they look like…someone who was subsequently revived and sees the outline of someone they recognize they can run to their name and grab thier ghost and dunk it to speed it up.
I feel this way works better with LFG than the way Datto described because the time is so short… unnecessary callouts by people saying the guardians they can see when it doesn’t correspond to the ghost currently picked up can at least confuse or slow them down.. at worse cause them to dunk in the wrong spot and be wiped.
By limiting the callouts to the name of the player whose ghost was picked up, that player staying what they look like, and where someone can see that description… callouts are minimized efficiently to give LFG groups who don’t have the benefit of easily recognizing their fellow guardians to speed things up after they are revived like groups who know each other likely could do as they revive and can see the outline of someone they recognize and can simply quickly grab their ghost and dunk no callouts needed.
Not having that benefit means you need to most out of the short time you have to revive everyone and we found the best way to do that was explained above.

Re: 4th encounter - The witness kills the people in the shadow realm after 6 total shapes have been transferred in the shadow realm. The strat here can be to force this or wait until after dissector has finished. To force have everyone just send 2 shapes right away, we tried NOT to send the shape a statue was holding to that guardian. To not force, start working on the correct shapes to trade in the shadow realm but make sure to not send a total of 6 shapes, send the 6th shape to get the witness, place the ghosts go back in make your 3D shape to go through the glass.
When putting the ghosts back in the statues, you need to do in order from left to right, if not you won’t be able to leave the shadow realm. We kept not being able to leave the shadow realm even after confirming we had the 3D shapes correct. So we made sure to put ghosts back in from left to right in order and that seemed to be the key.

Tip for the 2nd encounter: if you do plates first before shooting the boss, you can get all the resonance you need without any ads spawning

As of TWID 6/20/24 you do not need to worry about matching surge, they are editing this next week (Tuesday 6/25) all weapons will intrinsically receive the 25% surge buff. Keep in mind if you are -5 light under the recommended light level in a raid you will receive 36% more damage. If you are +15 light over the recommended light level inside a raid you will only receive 3% additional damage. Note that the statistics above are for normal mode I believe.

I can personally confirm that the Herald of Finality does *not* always Call one person per side, it can double up on a side and neglect one pair.
The first step of giving everybody their shape in encounter 4 is required. I tested skipping this part and it doesn’t work. When u complete trading everybody their shapes a bell will chime signaling that this was done correctly

The fourth encounter was amazing but that's it.
The simplest way to explain the outside team’s job for Verity (4th encounter) is: keep dissecting the matching shapes of the statues until you can’t do it anymore. Meaning dissect a triangle off the triangle statue then a square off the square statue. Then check everything and repeat. Just don’t try to do the same statue twice in a row and this will quickly solve itself.
This is the way you explain the trio team for Verity starting at 33:00 and this is how I’ve been explaining it to people. I do have one comment about the triple double.
It only needs 3 swaps / pairs of dissections if you got REALLY unlucky and they match the rooms they are on (ie sphere on circle statue). Every other combo, including triple double on the wrong rooms (ie sphere on square statue) requires two pairs of dissections.

23:54 in fact u need to do it for consistently get out of the room, if you try to escape the shadow realm without interacting with both statues on your room, even if both team make the final 3D form, the glass will not allow the players to pass by (3h of suffering told us that, and that was the only consistent way we found to get all out), appart of that great guide and awesome job here

Microcosm works nicely for witness DPS, mainly because you can be very mobile with it and hit your DPS peak without ADSing and missing the attack telegraphs. I ran it with The Supremacy, then built into kinetic surges and scavengers and it went great!

A small tip for fourth encounter that my team discovered and was pretty helpful; if you have a titan on your team, have them run pyrogales. Not just because the exotic is good, but because it bugs out their statue for the ghost mechanic. If the titan is a player who dies during the ghost mechanic, you will be able to see smalls “gems” where the flames would be on the pyrogales. Thus, if you know that you picked up their ghost, you can run back to the statues, look for those “gems” and immediately bank their ghost, bringing them back almost instantly. 😁👍🏻
I love you Datto, This is how my team did inside and there are different methods to doing inside but this is the easiest and simplest to do so hopefully it becomes the standard

Last Wish was all about various symbols, speed, team coordination, lock picking, and killing an oversized salamander followed by a relay race. Final Shape, Bungie decided to take us all the way back to kindergarten and embrace the kinder-guardian meme and double down on the "shape" aspect of "Final Shape" and learning how to share a plate signal by passing it back and forth like a ball. Just my opinion, but their total lack of creativity for what is the final raid for their Light and Darkness saga is a let down. Although, gz to the team for making the most convoluted and unique 4th encounter they possibly could. Would've been awesome to see that creativity spread around to more than just one encounter where it feels like most of their effort went into it just to purposefully making a Vault 2.0 sorta encounter. Thanks for the vid, this will help immensely when I start sherpaing groups for it.
I fully agree. I knew that this was a let down just from watching Datto's first clear video, but of course all of the Bungie Butt B*****s were all saying "It's the best raid ever made!" and "It's better than Last Wish!".
The fourth encounter is a masterpiece, but the rest is pathetically lame. They took "The Final Shape" too literally, and it's actually cringey and stupid. Every encounter feels so lame and boring, like we've seen these mechanics and this aesthetic before, and it's already been done better.
Even the name of the raid sounds lame as all crap. Again, Verity (fourth encounter) is a masterpiece up there with The Vault and Riven, but that's literally all this raid has going for it.
Vault Of Glass was better than this crap. At least it was inspired and looked unique.

If I'm not mistaken I believe for 4th encounter you need to make sure everyone in the shadow realm has two of their own shape first then send them along. That step is needed to cleanse the shadows and actually be able to leave the shadow realm. At least me and my team never could leave without doing that step, something Kackis forgot to mention in his guide
This is correct. If you do not swap your 2 starting symbols, you will be trapped even if you have the correct 2 symbols. E.g. you are holding triangle. Shadow is triangle circle. You cant just trade off the triangle for a square, you need to have swapped the circle.
And also with the Witness noticing mechanic, where he kills the 3 shadow realm people, it can also be forced when the shadow realm users deposit their second same shape to the other players. E. G. The player with circle sends one circle to middle statue then when they send their second circle to the right statue immediately after this the witness will notice
Fun fact on 4th: if you use Pyrogale as a Titan you will always be able to tell where the titan is supposed to go, as even without seeing the statue the Pyrogale light effects are visible. Haven't tested it for other armor on other classes. But yea, at least with pyrogale titan you can never get it wrong.
EDIT: also for final boss, you can tell he will do a Test not just from the audio scream. The hand you shoot last before the test will also glow more and brighter orange than it normally does when you take it out. So a scream + bright orange visuals = test incoming.
Hey Datto, you can despawn the hands that do bombardment in the 2nd encounter. If you stand in the bombardment indicator, you get a buff and can shoot the band on the wrist.
Tip for the 4th encounter: A quick solution to figuring out what the 3D shape is made of is to imagine what it looks like from the top and the side. For instance, a Sphere from the top is a Circle, and from the side is a Circle, so that statue is carrying Circle + Circle. A Cylinder is a Circle from the top, and a Square from the side, so that statue is carrying Circle + Square. A Pryamid looks like a Square from the top, a Triangle from the side, so it is carrying Square + Triangle. This cuts out having to memorize a chart and helps you see all the shapes independently.
Still watching Datto guides even when I don’t play the game anymore. I just can’t help it
