- Great Drama from The King's Speech (2010). Geoffrey Rush and Colin Firth at their best in the greatest drama of 2010. One of the most memorable scene from 2010. I haven't seen a better English language drama from 2010 than this. A movie that can keep audiences glued to their seats till the end.
"I HAVE A VOICE!"
"...Yes, you do."
Best lines ever!
"I HAVE A VOICE!"
Goosebumps every time
Tears in my eyes, every time I see this!
"You're the bravest man I know. You'll make a bloody good King." So much emotion. Watched this in the theater with my father shortly before he died and he cried. I said Dad, what's wrong? Dad said "I'm just so damn proud of him."
Dad explained that when he was a child in the 1940s, he saw George VI on television and thought he was the most impressive man in the world.
That smug face Geoffrey Rush put on when he said: "People have carved their names on it," was absolutely priceless.
To be honest, Rush deserved the Oscar for Supporting Actor.
Obviously
Didn't he get the Oscar?
@@ilzekrumina5800 Christian Bale won it that year for ‘the Fighter’
I grew out of my stutter, thank god. It was suggested to me that it was social anxiety. Children can be quite cruel.
This film brings tears to my eyes. A masterpiece.
It was truly m-m-m-mmmagnificent.
To HRHooChicken
"Fuck. Fuck! Fuck, fuck, fuck and fuck! Fuck, fuck and bugger! Bugger, bugger, buggerty buggerty buggerty, fuck, fuck, arse!
Balls! Balls!
Fuckity, shit, shit, fuck and willy. Willy, shit and fuck and... tits."
I wish i could grow out of mine.
I got one when I had 10, but it was likely psychological, y'know anxiety and all that crap, but now it's gone.
"Yes, you do."
A moral? In order to beat your obstacles, you must be taken out of your comfort zone. He was always confronted by him... he was always questioned. And that's the gist of our lives... sometimes, the person who most helps us is the one who most makes us go berserk.
This "Yes you do." sends me shivers down my spine every time.
Logue knew he had to reach that short temper of Bertie's to break him out of his self-pity.
Logue knew how to press exactly the right buttons.

Genius comment lmao
I was laughing so hard when George turned around and saw Lionel casually sitting in the chair.XD
" I don't care how many royal assholes have sat on this chair". 😜 funny as hell.
"You can't sit there."
"Why not, it's a chair."
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
i love the echo they did when he said voice... didn't happen on any other sentences or phrase just at that moment when he made it known that he was serious.
Jirokarja17 the whole scene had an echo
One of the best scenes ever, the way he gave back the confidence of the king was magnificent. Oh how I love it. WoW
This is one of the best scenes in any movie I have ever scene. Very powerful
0:41 When I saw this in the cinema in Australia, everyone laughed. It was such a well done moment.
Aussies are known for ‘larrikin’ spirit and snubbing our noses at authority figures, particularly the British.
To see Louge, not just sitting, but leaning, cross legged on St Edward’s Throne as though it’s a lounge chair, just perfectly embodied the amount of cheek Australians love.
Colin really deserved that Oscar!!
Such a good scene, my friends and i saw this (must have been 17 at the time?) in the cinema and the whole place was packed but so quiet. Scenes so perfectly written and filmed like this just touched you and sent inspirational shivers down your spine, save for the parts where he's swearing through which the whole screen was roaring with laughter
I was 13 when I saw this scene. As a teenager who got bullied and living with a borderline narc dad, this is forever imprinted in my head.
@@RibbonVintageGirl hope you're doing better now man, sorry you had to go through that. I got picked on too
I remember seeing this in the cinema. People went completely mad and freaked out with laughter when the camera suddendly showed Lionel nonchalantely sitting on the chair. Great times.
Geoffrey Rush is such an amazing actor its wonderful
That was a great scene. Loved it.
incredibly moving. touched me deeply
"Magnificent scene" is 100% correct, shame it doesn't carry on for another 30 seconds or so when George finally stands up for himself with the Archbishop and refuses to be pushed around.
"I have a voice," according to the movie, is what Lionel learned treating Australian WWI returned soldiers suffering shell-shock (who had been expendable cannon fodder and thereby had 'no voice'). All along, Lionel had quietly needled Berty into re-acquiring his voice, which had been taken away when he was young, rather than continuing to hide behind the injury.
one of the best scenes, when logue says 'yes you do' love that, stunning film
Possibly one of the best movies I have ever seen. And to think, King George the VI MAY have been on the throne in MY lifetime, and that the "Queen Mother" was his wife and Queen Elizabeth is his daughter! Brilliant casting, production, and the music was awesome. I certainly took notice of the hottie Colin Firth after seeing this and he deserved the Oscar for his role as King George, VI. Loved it! This scene is one of my favorites!!
Oh god.. Am so I love with this moment.. Ihave a voice part... It makes me believe in the good inside every human
George: Get off of that chair, right now!
Lionel: No!
George: Did I stutter!
Lionel: AAAAAAAAAAAAH, I see what ya did thar!
George *trollface*
I call this scene "Bertie's Breakthrough"
The way the man who sat on the throne spoke reminded me of Monty Python acting.
Absolutely Magnificent Scene
As someone who stutters his performance and impersonation was spot on even though everyone who stutters is different we all share the same pattern
1:15 I understand George’s frustration, I can relate. So many times I’ve wanted to express myself, to voice my frustrations
When he's angry, not only does his stutter disappear, but his W's become R's again.
Most 'angry' words are single syllables, used in short sentences. Easy to think, and say, and little need for composition in the mind.
(In fact, they are too easy to think and say, which is why they sound pretty bad when one has had time to think it over.)
I love how he's nattering on and then when he turns around and sees Logan in the chair he shuts up and is like wtf. lol
for some reason I LOL when the king turn his head and see Rush sitting on the throne.
Any man who has to say I am the King is no true King.
tywin lannister
Geoffrey Rush always great, loved him in "quills"
That's the Oscar right there.
Extraordinary!
I love this scene. It's funny but tugs your heart.
He was a wonderful king
Came here from Dale Carnegie’s “How To Win Friends and Influence People In The Digital Age” and needless to say, I was not disappointed. I have another movie on my to-watch list now hehe.
1:14 - 1:29 Logue was like, "There it is."
once of my favourite movies of all time
One of the greatest scenes of all time
,,I HAVE A VOICE!"
The most powerful line in the film. The echo through the abbey as if the entire world could hear it, as if to say that there is more to him than just his stutter and that he is just like everyone else.
I'm from Iraq, I was suffering from stuttering to speak every person has a dream, I dream to travel and I was hoping to learn English Language're afraid of entering the school because of the stutter to speak, but must be strong to reach your dream entered a special school to learn English beginning was very difficult, but much improved I am now talking normally and greatly improved my wish of all people not to stop achieve his dreams must be strong. I'm sorry if it was an error writing ❤

nice writing lad, keep up the good work :)
Hi Dream, I am the same. I want to learn spanish, but i have no confidence and am to scared to pracitse out loud.
@TheSupaplum
Yes he did! He performed the role of Lionel Louge so brillant as well. And because of him I actually want to see this film (till then, I had no idea, who's this man who played the king - this Colin Firth?!....shame on me...I know by now, he such a brillant and gifted actor!!!), but when the movie was over, I thought WOW that was absolutely masterful acted by everyone (Geoffrey, Helena, Colin), but I was especially taken by the grasp performance of Colin Firth.
That echo gave me chills :)
A free lesson from the Cinematography Academy, by two of it's most honoured professors. I hope Hollywood wasn't skipping this one.
Brilliant acting.
Collin is brilliant
wonderful movie
People don't realize how much these people suffer. It's the curse of curses.
excellent!
Merci! Ca me parait vraisemblable...
This movie captured what the monarchy is and what some idiots don't see. Duty, service, and in some ways love.
This scene is the main idea of the film....
It's so sad to hear him stutter:(
It's so sad to hear him studder:(
Best scene in the film.
I love Geoffry Rush!
Imagine a fan edit of Captain Barbossa coaching Bertie how to speak
How the hell did Collin Firth go from THIS to 'Mary Poppins two: electric boogaloo'?
Its just a chair. loved it
lol "I don't care how many royal arses have sat in this chair"
Bonjour ! J'arrive peut-être un peu tard …. Il y a plusieurs petites expressions sympathiques pour dire "je vais au petit coin" : "to spend a penny" ou "to see a man about a dog". J'ai appris cette dernière dans un autre magnifique film de C. Firth intitulé "When did you last see your father" que je vous recommande.
the moment u came here for 1:16
yousuf alshaikhli the best way to watch it is watch the whole scene, the build up to this scene
2frey84 yeah true tbh the whole movie is so epic even tho it’s all about his speech but it’s so addicting i can’t stop watching it and it gives me goosebumps every time
Merci MsVanouchka! Ca me parait tout à fait possible... Auriez-vous regardé à nouveau ce film récemment?
@Fncps85
When Harry gets angry at Merlin Arthur and Other kingsman agents
Sometimes you must make people you care about angry.
good good very very good 👍👍👍👍
one of the bedst damn movies i'v seen
Merci!
...a large rock ☺☺☺

"My speech therapist" est la réponse à votre question.
filmed in Ely cathedral
Encore moi …. J'entends "How can you believe all that" … mais il faut reconnaitre que çà n'est pas très clair !
1:15

Oh! Come and see the violence inherent in the system! HELP! HELP! I'm being repressed!
Is it disrespectful to put clotted cream on the Stone of Scone?

question did they had to get permission to make this movie?
You mean from like the royal family? I'm sure they did.
Yes, Her Majesty the Queen Mother said that they had permission to make this movie but only after she died
thats what i thought i heard!
Dori Queen HM The Queen Mother said that the memories were still too young and painful and that after her death they could make the film.
Of course they could of just made it anyway, they didn't need permission, but as the director of this movie said; 'When the Queen Mother tells an Englishman to wait, an Englishman waits'
good to know yeah if an Englishman has to wait yes indeed!
