PSA - That ceramic insulator is made from beryllium oxide. During use, it is inert and harmless but if it is crushed and the dust is inhaled you can get berylliosis, an incurable disease of the lungs.

I used the same technique from this video and removed Two strong magnets. Thanks for the info!

you have to be carefull with the ceramic insulators it's at both ends of the saft that gose through it and it's made of berilium if you break or crush it you could end up inhaling some of it and if you get a large enough dose of it you could end up with severe beriliosis and that can cause death.

Nice. My dad was in electronic repairs and would come home with these magnets when people didn't want their microwaves back. this is over 30 years ago and my mom still has a pair of these magnets on her fridge. My microwave just died today and I needed help figuring out how to get it out of that metal box......thanks for the video!

I hope you already knew about that pink looking porcelain pipe running through the magnetron.

He should inform about discharging the Capacitor before proceeding….People have died & many seriously injured by the shock if not properly discharged.

Thanks, Before you chuck out the old microwave, just buy a new manetron for fraction of cost of new microwave, change the inside Mica plate whioch may have burned and you jhave a new microwave. You can check videos on youtube how to do this. Only once confirmed the magnetron is burned out or dead should you discharge the capacitor first (See videos on how as its dangerous) and then use this video to remove magnets which you could reuse for a long long time on so many things.

Risking your health from berilium, over the sake of two magnets? It not worth it. You get can magnets at Harbor Freight or the hardware store. I'm sure they don't cost that much.

The magnetrons vary in design, some magnets are fixed by a metal plate and need more work removing as they are riveted in.
