- OH. MY. GOD. Did anyone else feel practically suffocated by Chelsea in Episode 9 of Love is Blind? Her inability to read the room, extreme defensiveness and just overall obsession with being married vs. being in a healthy relationship was so jarring to me. I'm starting to see what Kwame's talking about.

Correction- Kwame's family is NOT in Portland. Just his friends. I think Chelsea is being so extra because she is trying to convince herself that he wants her. She KNOWS she's second choice/not what he wants. He has given her every last excuse--some valid, some ridiculous. I don't know that Kwame wants to be married at all, I think he wants a serious gf who meets his preference, gives him validation, and he can have fun with and eventually marry her. But also he can't stand up to his mother who wants to dictate her children's lifestyles and choices. I know it's somewhat cultural but he clearly doesn't actually follow the culture. He likes white girls, he's not a practicing Christian. With all that in his story-why is he on the show and why was he trying to be on Married at First Sight. This is going to be a problem for him no matter what!

In Chelsea's case, I think she is aware of him not wanting her, and she chooses to try and gaslight him to believe that they have this incredible fairytale romance. It just won't work, even when she's trying her hardest to put pressure on him to commit to her. He never was into her, not even in the pods. He seems exhausted by every conversation they have. I hope he runs.

Marshal wasn't interested in a woman that was on his emotional level. He said he wanted a "project" which is condescending, self-absorbed, and cruel. He didn't want a woman to be his equal, he wanted to feel like he saved one. So he was less concerned with her feelings for him because, you know, she's so "damaged" that she can't possibly know what's good for her anyway. He wanted a woman that would stay with him because she felt indebted to him, he wasn't actually concerned with being loved. I don't see him as a nice man. Soft spoken and nice are two different things, there's a lot of gross subtext behind his actions and his words. He's not delusional or naive, he sees that she doesn't like him he just assumes he's the best thing for her anyway.

This the one. Bigger problem is most people don’t see that. They think he’s Mr perfect. Men like him also love to date emotionally unhealthy women because when she lashes out or behaves how we expect he gets to look like the good guy, the savior, the victim, etc. Everyone’s on his side so he gets to be “right”

I agree with this part. I think he was genuinely interested in her and thought she was healed of some unresolved things which are probably why he proposed. It is natural for people, especially men, to want to help and save those around them. I don't think he was looking for a project but I think he naively thought he would help change and heal her over time. Especially since she kept affirming that she was working on herself and that she loved him and was willing to work on their issues. That is probably why he did not see the red flags the first time she freaked out or had an emotional outburst/moment. You can tell he did not know what to do or expect that. He did his best but he gave up when he realized that she was not going to work for it and was losing interest. I believe he would have stayed if he thought she loved him and was willing to work it out. However, when he kept asking what she wanted from him, it was probably because he did everything she said but it wasn't enough and he thought maybe there was more. in reality, he just wasn't enough for her. I think he wanted to be loved but I think he thought that would be reciprocated by another person if he did his part. Instead, she got mad at him for everything because she just did not like him.

This statement is a reach. There was no sign that that was him and if you knew girls like Jackie, they don't lie. She just wanted someone she viewed as tougher. She only knew toxic men and probably felt uncomfortable outside of that because that was not the kind of man she is attracted to. She also probably thought he would have elements of that kind of "masculinity" in him, especially as a Black man. I cannot blame her for not being into him but I can blame her for her behaviour.

Going to bed angry is definitely very hard for me and so I can understand why Marshall wanted reassurance of what was happening between them before the two went to sleep. He also mentioned that she would’ve left home early in the morning and he would have to wait till the end of the following day just to talk- so I disagree that he was being pushy - she literally was talking to another man at a party why wouldn’t he feel some type of way after that?

She KNOWS how to read the room. She KNOWS he's uncomfortable. She kisses him and says "we're having so much fun" etc at the precise moments when he's showing that (and looks like he's about to say that) he's over it. She's trying to force the situation. That shopping incident made me flip my opinion of who is the villain. Considering that Kwame is a would-be cheater with race issues that is quite a feat.
I think because Chelsea is a petite blonde woman we are not seeing how she behaves. She seems batshit in my opinion. 1000 times creepier than matt from season 3. Possibly crazier than Zanab. She seems controlling and aggressive and at one point irrational.
-Not allowing him to get up when he was upset
-Forcing him to eat the damned strawberries
-Trying to control HOW he complimented her
-'playfully' mushing him in the face when he is trying to talk about their issues
-Forcing him to kiss her, or agree that 'they're so in love or having the best time' when she can tell he's upset

Totally agree. She was not validating his feelings. Chelsea was just chalking it up to “well that’s the way I am, take it or leave it.” She could have been more empathetic in that situation. I do think he’s going to say yes, though.

I think Chelsea believes she's the full package and that Kwame can't get better than her and so she will play these little games like being so loving and flirty with him and then next minute being snippy with him. She won't compromise her lifestyle at all, everything has to be her way...I can see her making threats in this relationship of leaving him if she doesn't get her way because she is so full of herself..constantly wanting him to say he loves her, tell her she's beautiful, that her body looks good...these are things a man should say on his own, not have to be forced every damn second of the day to keep saying it. She forced the engagement (staged it herself), did a wedding quickly, 2 kids back to back, all the photoshoots for every celebration, etc. Her husband just goes along with it but looks miserable. I agree about the healing comments. I think Bliss and Zach should go to couples therapy and really work through it. Imagine she basically being rude and passive aggressive to him for 30 years. Holding on to that anger makes no sense. basically she's choosing to be miserable. At some point it needs to be dealt with and it takes time. If you can't get over it, don't marry him. No point getting engaged let alone married until this is worked out. And again it's about taking the time to rebuild and trust after this betrayal.
The expedited timeline is challenging for the best couples but with this plot twist even more so.

See, I think she knows deep down that he is not into her. I think she is desperate for a relationship/marriage and is doing whatever she can to hang onto this thing with Kwame even though she knows it's not right. It's very sad. If she would invest in therapy/counseling for herself, I bet she would be in a better spot to date and, eventually, get married.
To me, it seems like they both are just dancing around the fact that this relationship isn't right. Kwame knows she's not going to break it off, and yet, he continues on. They both have some deep-rooted issues that will never be solved with a relationship/marriage. I am also having a hard time sympathizing with Kwame. He signed up for a seattle show and then complains about moving from Portland. I personally think he is using this as a way to try and get chelsea to break things off with him. He has a lot of these issues. I bet you anything that if he was with Micah, that boy would have already moved to Seattle 😂

@@deborahnicholas244 Everyone seems to think it would be different with Micah (who is trying to get Paul to move to freaking ARIZONA, way further then Seattle) but I think the same issues would have come up with Micah. Micah right now is the unknown, he didn’t have to consider Micah’s ties to Arizona and still doesn’t. Where as he agreed to Marry Chelsea and the real issue of leaving behind his whole life in Portland is a realistic consideration. Once the shine was off with Micah, he’d be in the same place possibly.
I really don’t think he wants a traditional domestic partnership at all. And it’s possible neither does Micah. That is maybe why they would have worked, but not because he would be packing up his bags for Arizona if Micah had asked.

Chelsea needs some therapy. And I’m not saying that to be mean. She gives off very desperate vibes. She constantly wants to be reassured and create these overly Hollywood romance moments. “Tell me how beautiful I am. Tell me how much you love me. Feed me strawberries.” And if he says anything that she hasn’t seen in a movie, she flips out. “You wanna throw me under the bus?! I’ll throw you under the bus!” He only brought up a valid concern. He would be a fool to marry her. She needs to do work on herself as why she is so clingy and desperate.
These videos are so helpful because as an anxious attached individual I have displayed Chelsea’s behavior. I genuinely feel for her because she’s hunting for compliments, and her looking for a fight is just a way for her to get reassurance cuz that’s the only way to get it in her mind. I need to watch the whole episode first haha 😂 but that’s what she’s giving. She needs to pull a Deepti and choose herself first.

i think marshall was pushing to talk to jackie about resolving the fight that night because at that point, they weren’t staying in the same apartment (they arrived to chelsea’s party at different times) and that might’ve been the first time in a few days they were actually together again. i’m just assuming though and i agree, he maybe shouldn’t have pushed so hard that night

I can't stand Chelsea. She wants to get married so badly she's decided she'll marry anyone and she's chosen Kwame...and she's determined to make a square peg fit into a round hole. Any time he expresses concern, she gives him a list of reasons he's wrong. Kwame is not the same guy we saw in the pods. He looks worn out and she's choosing to ignore it and is mildly bullying him into marrying her. And she's not that hot.

Seattle is absolutely a *beautiful* city - and so much fun, walkable, etc if you’re able to afford living in downtown & other key areas. However, it is super expensive - as Kwame implied in his rant about Seattle vs Portland - and very chilly & rainy basically all the time. Lots of people get over the “bad” weather quickly, because the city offers so much culturally etc. But it can definitely be a downer if you’re a sun worshiper or if u don’t have the coins to truly experience the good stuff.

Chealsea reminds me of my sister and my brotherinlaw ended up cheating on her. Very desperate, needy, doesnt know how to love herself, controlling, manipulative, forceful, dilusional etc etc. She wouldnt let my bil go anywhere-!! i mean she forced him to be her dang shadow. He couldnt talk without her talking over him and telling HIM how he should feel and think. It was exhausting watching her turn him into a zombie. I actually felt bad for my bil and she is my sister. 😅

To be truthful, I never really liked Marshall. From the time when they were in the pods and Jacky told him she had difficulty deciding between him and Josh, and he threw this unwarranted emotional hissy fit. The energy he gave just didn’t seem fitting. It just seemed like fake nice guy energy to me. I know those type well.

Chelsea definitely needed to apologize and acknowledge Kwame's feelings. She said "I'm direct" but that response was anything but. She's gonna be telling him "welcome to marriage" everytime he expresses his concerns. She's dreamed of getting married so much she didn't think about the actual being a wife/life partner to someone part.
I also found it strange that Kwame said he didn't eat dinner with his family, my husband Senegalese and that's obligatory pretty much.
About the dinner thing, I'm Nigerian and a lot of families don't eat together. Although for some, the mother may eat with the children while the father eats alone

Every Asian, African culture that I'm exposed to, aside from South Africa, the meals are prepared in such a way that everyone eats from the same plate or bowl. Ethiopian food, Senegalese food.

Chelsea did the same thing earlier in the dog grooming saloon thing. He was expressing his doubts but she just got defensive and confrontational. Also this woman doesn't have an idea what direct was if it hit her in the face. Answering a question with a question is anything but. Saying she slept badly because he snored all night long would have been direct.

Idk! The only orange (not even red) flag Brett had to me was when he mentioned he’s learning to express love properly because of how his family is. And that orange flag turned light pink when his family in the recent episodes verified what he was saying earlier because that to me showed he wasn’t lying about the cause of his lack of expression. It really just was his upbringing. Besides that, if there is something else, I’ll admit I’m completely blind. If he turns out to be a player or liar, I would be SHOCKED . Can’t say I do relate to Zack on the whole, not wanting to tell people that you grew up poor because look when I was in school I mentioned some thing about the dollar store and there are like these kids that I went to school with and they like basically made it look like you were look down upon if you shopped at the dollar store or if you shopped at Walmart and I was like that’s primarily were my family goes because we don’t have all this money to spend it like fucking Whole Foods so I would understand why they would be some thing that you wouldn’t want to be open to especially because people judge you for it

He’s the total package and deserves a woman who will love him for him.

It makes me sad what everyone is saying about Chelsea. We grew up together, she has always been the same person regardless of being on this show. She is charismatic, very loving and always puts 100% in every relationship. There is not a fake bone in her body, she is truly one of the sweetest people I know. I can’t even imagine dating so publicly, she handles herself with class.

I found some leaks, some messages between a person working for LIB and someone else, and that person working for the show said that Chelsea always was kinda bossy and ordering Kwame around, but they do end up getting married. That person also said that it came as a surprise to the crew cause they didnt expect Kwame to Say yes due to Chelsea's bossy behaviour.
Annoying because it’s so apparent he did it to appease her and not look like the bad guy.
