You are a rare man indeed...you post a re-watch, I assume of the whole series?! AND comment retrospectively about it as well. You also express disdain for the fandom's thoughts about the series in various instances which makes you even more of an outlier. In the most thoughtful and engaging way, imo. New sub ;)
Hahah I'm not trying to be a devil's advocate to the fanbase, I just disagreed with the universal hatred for the final season, and I think in the end the level of hatred the fans had actually took away from what the show had accomplished, and all the special moments it had created leading upto the last season. But I know it's not the popular opinion so thanks for appreciating my thoughts on the show and I hope you enjoy the rest of my reaction series to it 🙂 welcome to the channel!
Ain't seen the prequel yet, just guessing : Targaryens being immune to fire may not be a systematic thing. Seems like something that would be quite well known in Westeros, and Jorah would not have been shocked later on. Must be a character Perk only some of them get? Either way, resisting flames & going for a swim in lava feel like a very different scale, am not convinced even Dany could tank such a golden crown. Always thought she was merely blustering here / renouncing him out loud.
is it wrong to derive enjoyment over seeing such a nasty character meet such a nasty end? I'd like to think not. Yeah, the Persians poured molten gold down Valerian's throat (allegedly).. Humanity is fucking dark.
Molten gold down the throat daaaaamnnnn. I wonder how the Persians set it up with wordplay before they did it. "don't worry, you will have a golden-crowned stomach which men will tremble at the sight of" "...I didn't really ask for a golden stomach though, more just a crown" "oh and it will be a great crown. A great, stomach-shaped crown..." "this isn't even making sense..I mean you're going to pour that molten gold down my throat aren't you?" "oh no. this gold is for your crown. Your bowel area crown. an intestinal royalty never before seen by man or horse..." "oh just kill me."
8:39 Jorah quietly and firmly stating,"and yet here I stand. " Mormont House motto coming through!
Oh damn I forgot that was a play on the Mormont motto! Makes it even more legendary hahah.

Even having watched season 1 of HotD I'm still not exactly sure how it's supposed to work lol. But now I wish there was a lava swimming scene lol.
Golden crowns or golden showers, they're both pretty icky to me. This character deserved both.
A golden shower on the burns caused by the golden crown would be the optimal pain distribution method IMO lol.
