What a kick, all the things of my childhood. Table top hair dryer in the 50's gave way to straightening your hair with an ironing board and iron or sleeping with wet hair wrapped around veggie cans held on with Bobbie pins, och! Those of us " war babies " grew up in houses that had all that cool furnitue, I even have my uncles end tables which he purchased from Denmark.
This video was literally a walk through my childhood!! Had the hairdryer myself! Had the pyrex dishes! Much of what was in my parents and grandparents homes was in that shop! WOWZERS! I have a midmod home and have furnished it with quite a few midmod pieces. Watching this was such a treat!! I have a midmod telephone bench/table, sofa, coffee table (double decker like that end table you found), headboard, dressers, dining room table and chairs, as well as china hutch. I am always on the lookout. Oh, and quite a bit of the original Barbie wardrobe!!
I sat under that very hair dryer as a child! I sat under it from the late 60's thru part of the 70's. My grandma made sure I "didn't go out with wet hair"...lol. LOVE the hankies! I seen SO many treasures as you scanned through there & boy did the childhood memories flood me 💖‼️
I have a collection of glass rolling pins. They used to put ice water in them to make it easy to roll out pie crust. I love this trip that you made! Wow, it brings back so many memories of my childhood. Thanks for sharing.
Cool! My husband and I collect antiques. I am trying to get rid of a lot of our stuff. Preparing for retirement. I wish you were closer to me. We have a lot of great items. We live in South Louisiana. May Jesus continue to bless you and your family
I’d sure help you get rid of some things. If you have any atomic stuff for a good price I’d pay for you to ship it. You can send me pictures on facebook - Dee Princis. 💗💗💗
@@thedistressedprincessdiy I don’t normally enjoy or watch “shop with me” or “haul”videos. But this one was unique. You were shopping for something specific and pointed out amazing finds along the way.
The hair dryer is 70’s, I had one. Those hankies are definitely 50’s. I miss having pretty hankies to carry in your purse. Men don’t even carry handkerchiefs anymore.
You’re so right! My dad always carried a white hanky. Wonder why it stopped? Maybe I should have my hubby start carrying one. He’s always sneezing. Lol 💗💗💗
@@thedistressedprincessdiy this sounds crazy, but with more women going into the workforce it was one less thing to have to wash & iron. Plus, not the most sanitary item 🤣😂 When I was first married I can remember washing & ironing them for my husband. I think Kleenex had a lot to do with it possibly. Not sure.
Hi Stephanie. I’m all into changing up my kitchen right now, but don’t worry because I’ll still be doing all kinds of styles on my channel. I still have farmhouse DIYs waiting to be done 😉 💗💗💗
I came across your channel a while back and didn't realize you were around my neck of the woods till today's video. If you haven't been to Golden Goodies in Cambria you should check it out sometime.
I am from Mt. Vernon all my family is there. I remember almost all these things. 😊 hunting. I have a mid-century China press I got for $75. Love your viedos watch them all the time.
Another person who sat under a similar home dryer ... although a different color (cream/yellow) and the bonnet portion was flexible plastic (think big shower cap that could go over both curlers and your head. An idea for the craft project.... turn your find into a kitchen clock ⏰️ 😉
I LOVE the shopping videos!! And i did like that brown crock but i loved all the colorful 50s stuff more! Can you believe that?! Ive been converted hahaha😂😂 What have you done to me?!
@@thedistressedprincessdiy I didn’t. I think they were before my time…50sand 60s. I started school in 1970. But I have seen plenty of them, and they have a nostalgic smell. 🥰

I also like Atomic Space Age furniture and Gothic.
I used the Dot and Jim books in 1969 when I was in first grade.
Oh wow!!! I don’t remember the books in my first grade, 1985, being cute like that. 💗💗💗
You didn’t get the red table & chairs????? Oh my. Great finds.
Nope I didn’t have a place for them. Sad isn’t it?🥺
@@thedistressedprincessdiy ohhhh that is sad. They were perfect.

ooohhh....i would have bought the vintage ice crusher. it was adorable & the perfect mc color. only $15.!
It really was a great color 💗
The chalky substance the fruit placks are made of is plaster of Paris.
Oooo thanks Janie. 💗💗💗
@@thedistressedprincessdiy You’re welcome. We had those in our kitchen when I was a kid. Ummm. I guess I’m old. Lol.
We had them too.
Wow, these things bring me back to my days growing up! So nostalgic! Those were the good old days and we didn’t even know it!
Awesome! I just love that nostalgic feeling 💗💗💗
So many of these things brought fond memories. I was born in 1954 and remember seeing a lot of these things. ❤️❤️
You’ve lived through lots of good times with pretty things Nan 💗💗💗

So 😎. My mother had one of those dryers.
I think I’m going to try rolling my hair and sitting under it. I sure hope it works. 💗💗💗
I remember the school books & most of the other items also. Thanks for sharing your antique shopping trip. 🙂💕
Thanks for watching Jeanette. I’m so happy you enjoyed it. 💗💗💗
I had one of those hood dryers about 15 years ago.
The colors would indicate older.
My aunt gave me her pyrex turquoise nesting bowls and I treasure them.
Oooo yes those are definitely a treasure! 💗💗💗
my mom had one of those hair dryers she used in the 70s. Big thing was rolling wet hair on those bristle rollers and sitting under to dry.

As others said these items take us back. I’m still a farmhouse girl but it was fun to see. Thanks Rhonda
