  • Various impressions of a Dinghy Cruising Association Rally in Oxey Lake on the Solent - a remote backwater little known even to local yacht owners. It lies just west of Lymington on the coastline of the New Forest.

    This is very nice. Brilliant. Small boat sailing. The simplicity. Nature. Our ancient heritage in our genes.
    I love it.
    I have downsized from having had sailboats that just got bigger and bigger and everything around the boat was getting more expensive. Cranes, harbour expenses etc.
    Now, my sixth sailboat is once again a modest 6m or 20ft, and it sits in my garden as we speak.
    Heavenly simplicity. Thanks for your videos ! Greetings from Sweden 👍⭐

      @E C Ha! So true. I bought a relatively small boat (34ft), older, less expensive ($20,000) sail boat and have probably put in 3 to 4 x that in maintenance and upgrades. At first I struggled justifying the expenditure but now I just roll with it. It is like having children. You just keep writing the cheque's.

    Another GREAT relaxing video! I just love your work! However, I am a Yank, (of fine English historical significance, a great grandfather times a few, was James Figg, but he was a boxer) I would really like to get ahold of the plans for your boat and have one built for the Mississippi which is only a mile and a half away from me.

    Is that a Walker of Leigh on Sea Enterprise? . Id be interested to know because I worked for Walker in the sixties. These boats ...Enterprise...were usually built by one man employed at the Great Wakering works. Walker also built 12-14 -16 ft fisherman with or without a cuddy. smaller craft for tenders etc! They were all built using oak, stem, keel and stern posts, mahogany planking and Canadian rock elm which steamed really well to form the ribs. During that period Walkers had a very good reputation for excellent clinker built boats.

    Good morning, I have followed this channel for a long time and I am beginning to lead something similar in my country but, I have a great doubt. Do you carry portable toilets on your sailboats? How do you handle these situations when you camp outdoors? Thank you.

    • @RogerRoving
      @RogerRoving  2 роки тому +1

      There are various solutions to the toilet problem - which can include carrying a portable toilet, although I just use a bucket and dispose of the contents carefully. But in this case we sailed to a pub which had toilets we could also use in the morning.
