I feel like clinching the playoff berth after the Dallas win was the one thing that let the team exhale. Usually, the Dolphins don’t know their playoff outcome until the last game of the season. Clinching the playoffs seemed like the goal last year. Teams have to learn to overcome these types of mindsets. We’ll see what happens. Second item: roster issues always come about when teams miss on draft picks. When you miss - you have to spend money to “cover” your draft shortcomings.

Omar is such a circus clown sometimes. How the french toast can you be "setup to fail" as a "black" HC when your GM is black, two of the other top front office people are black and your FIRST ROUND, TOP 5 QB is a minority. Omar you are so FOS sometimes.Cut it out with the DEI BS. Floazz failed because he acted like a baby when the organization would not allow him to have his way. Flores was the designated scapegoat. He was set up to fail. He did not coddle athletes at the Dolphins, even was nasty at times. I believe Don Shula's players also loved to win with him, but hated him in practice. Wonder why? Clearly negative motivation is not what it used to be. Look, I believe you should treat everyone with respect, but there are limits to how much anyone can take as far as abusive commentary is concerned. I believe Tua will prove to be one of the finest QBs this organization has had in quite some time. If he takes the Dolphins to a SB and wins it, he will be memorialized as the QB who brought back the franchise from years of mediocrity. Justice is there for the taking.

Marv Levy snd Dick Vermeil were both players coaches with high standards that pushed their players and McD has a lot in common with them. McD is on game tape demanding more from his players. There is a time to push guys to their limits, but you also have to know when to step back and give people room to grow. I even commented of FB that is that it was good to hear that McD isnt always a nice guy and Waddle himself approved of my comment.

Because success is often measured by how a team performs in December and January, on the issue of Flores maximizing the rosters he had, let's look at that time period for both coaches. Granted, the teams are entirely different, but to say Flores maximized the offense he had I don't think is accurate.
    Flores ' overall record 2019-2021: 8-4
    12/1/19 vs. Eagles - Won 37-31 (Fitzpatrick 3 TDs 1 INT, Wentz 3 TDs 1 INT)
12/8/19 vs. Jets - Lost 22-21 in NY (Fitzpatrick 1 INT, Darnold 2 TDs 1 INT)
12/15/19 vs. Giants - Lost 36-20 in NY (Fitzpatrick 2 TDs, Manning 2 TDs 3 INTs)
12/22/19 vs. Bengals - Won 38-35 in OT (Dalton and Fitzpatrick throw 4 TDs)
12/29/19 vs. Patriots - Won 27-24 in NE (Fitzpatrick 1 TD, Brady 2TDs 1 INT)
12/6/20 vs. Bengals - Won 19-7 (Tua 1 TD, Brandon Allen at QB for CIN 1 TD 1 INT)
    12/13/20 vs. Chiefs - Lost 33-27 (Tua 2 TDs 1 INT, Mahomes 2 TDs 3 INTs)
    12/20/20 vs. Patriots - Won 22-12 (Tua 0 TDs 1 INT, Newton 0 TDs)
12/26/20 vs. Raiders - Won 26-25 in LV (Tua pulled from game 17/22, 94 yds and 1 TD, Fitzpatrick finishes and late FG wins)
1/3/21 vs. Bills - Lost 56-26 in BUF (Tua 3 INTs, Allen 3 TDs 1 INT)
    12/5/21 vs. Giants - Won 20-9 (Glennon 0 TDs 1 INT, Tua 2 TDs)
    12/19/21 vs. Jets - Won 41-24 (Wilson 0 TDs, Tua 2 TDs 2 INTs)
12/27/21 vs. Saints - Won 20-3 in NO (Book 0 TDs 2 INTs, Tua 1 TD 1 INT)
    McDaniel's overal record 2022-2023: 4-10
    12/4/22 vs. 49ers - Lost 33-17 in SF (Purdy 2 TDs 1 INT, Tua 2 TDs 2 INTs)
12/11/22 vs. Chargers - Lost 23-17 in LA (Herbert 1 TD, Tua 1 TD with 10/28 passing)
12/17/22 vs. Bills - Lost 32-29 in BUF (Allen 4 TDs, Tua 2 TDs)
    12/25/22 vs. Packers - Lost 26-20 (Rodgers 1 TD 1 INT, Tua 1 TD 3 INTs)
1/1/23 vs. Patriots - Lost 23-21 in NE (Bridgewater 1 TD 1 INT, Jones 2 TDs)
    1/8/23 vs. Jets - Won 11-6 (Thompson 0 TDs, Flacco 0 TDs)
1/15/23 vs. Bills - Lost 34-31 in BUF (Thompson 1 TD 2 INTs, Allen 3 TDs 2 INTs)
12/3/23 vs. Commanders - Won 45-15 in WAS (Tua 2 TDs, Howell 1 INT)
    12/11/23 vs. Titans - Lost 28-27 (Tua 0 TDs, Levis 1 TD 1 INT - Williams/Hill injuries & late game collapse)
    12/17/23 vs. Jets - Won 30-0 (Tua 1 TD, Siemian 2 INTs)
12/24/23 vs. Cowboys - Won 22-20 (Tua 1 TD, Prescott 2 TDs - game winning FG)
12/31/24 vs. Ravens - Lost 56-19 in BAL (Tua 2 TDs 2 INTs, Jackson 5 TDs - Chubb ACL injury)
    1/7/24 vs. Bills - Lost 21-14 (Tua 1 TD 2 INTs, Allen 2 TDs 2 INTs)
1/13/24 vs. Chiefs - Lost 26-7 (Tua 1 TD 1 INT, Mahomes 1 TD - Chiefs kick 4 FGs & Dolphins RBs rush for 42 yds on 14 carries)
Simply put, in 2020 and 2021 the Dolphins faced 2 total Super Bowl contending teams in Buffalo and Kansas City. After facing QB's like Brandon Allen, Cam Newton, Mike Glennon, Zach Wilson and Ian Book in December, you absolutely should have a winning record.
On the flip side, in the McDaniel era we faced Josh Allen (3 times), Justin Herbert, Brock Purdy, Dak Prescott, Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes in 2022 and 2023.
Also, given the nature of the roster we have now, the injuries that the Dolphins have sustained absolutely impacted the chances of success in 2022 and 2023. I can't say the same one way or another in 2019-2021.
We'll see what happens this season down the stretch. We face the Jets twice, Texans in Houston, 49ers at home, and the Browns in Cleveland.
But the two tenures are incomparable, in my opinion.

How can you say he was a good coach if he could not maintain relationships? Head coach is mostly a leadership role. If you can't figure out what kind of feedback your players respond well to, and you can't maintain a good relationship with your QB or your boss (owner) or your GM or any of your OCs and people are quitting because they don't want to work with you then you are a bad head coach. It doesn't matter how good you are at Xs and Os; that's less than 50% of the job. And this is not unique to football or unique to sports; it's true in any business. If you are in a leadership role the most important thing is your relationships with the people you are supposed to lead.

I’m not sure what Omar says about Flo is true. He has bias and clearly doesn’t like him. The Dolphins have had dysfunction for decades under Ross. I’m sure that had more to do with Caldwell and Gailey leaving. Flo said he wasn’t ready to play Tua, only to play him 2 weeks later. He was clearly forced to play Tua by management. Gailey said he didn’t think Tua was ready either. Gailey clearly saw this dysfunction and wanted out. Same with Fangio this past year. MM clearly doesn’t run this team. Fangio saw this dysfunction and high tailed it out of here. He was the highest paid DC. If there was truly something special going on here where he thought they’d win a SB, he wouldn’t have left. I don’t buy this whole “he wanted to be in Philly anyway”. BS. I’ve quit and turned down jobs before. That sounds like one of those bs excuses. Why would anyone not want to live in Miami as the highest paid DC and no state taxes if they thought they’d win a SB. He already knows that it would be roughly 3 years max. This isn’t a 30 year commitment to retiree type job. I DON’T BELIEVE IT and we’ll never truly know.

A set of wickets is better than our O-line at the end of last year. So Izzy, OBJ, Malik and a healthy Hill and Waddle aren't better than last year at the end of the season? The TE room is also clearly better. The entire backfield was absent due to injuries at the end of the season; ergo the backfield is infinitely better. The entire team is infinitely better than the injury riddled team last year.

I always agree with Omar (usually lol) but we hired Flores for 5 years! Some times tank to set them up for the future and it wasn’t personal to Flo. It was just the plan and he took the job knowing that. If he would have got the qb relationship right and didn’t go rogue he would have had a real shot but he ruined his opp himself.

In other words Flo fucked up all the plans of the org and I’m glad he’s gone. Tua, Phillips, X, Jackson, etc were all actively brought down by him and almost ruined some of their careers. That is not a leader or head coach material.

Every single player on the Miami dolphins offense has injury issues besides two players. Durham Smythe and Austin Jackson. Everyone else on the entire starting offense missed games last year. And to think anything's going to change this year you have to be delusional. Miami's offense are fragile ballerinas. Don't get me wrong they are fast and can score points. But to treat them like princesses during practice is going to reserve them for January and December is moronic.

There was a good quote from. A sports radio guy up here today. He said, he finds it hard to believe that Flores had that big of an effect on Tua after Tua played for Nick Saban. This was clearly a revenge take for Tua. It was premeditated and he laid it on Flores to make him look bad. He's made these statements every year about Flores. Give it up Tua. You look weak. I've been a fan of Miami since the 70's. I've seen the glory days and the last 25 years of crap.. this is a bad look and it's a symptom of why this team is soft.

There is a fine line between wanting to have the best facilities for your team, and wanting a coach that is a player coach, and a team that has players that needed Vic Fangio gone because he is old school and hard on them, and are talking about a former coach hurting their feelings... It's not a good look after losing big games at the end of last year to Tennessee, Buffalo and in cold weather when we had no interest in getting on that field in KC... Just saying...
