Deleuze and Spinoza: Practical Philosophy and Process Ontology

  • Deleuze can be seen as one of the most important thinkers of the 20th century. His (and Guattarri's) ideas on deterritorialization, multiplicities, the rhizome, speed, and others create new philosophical narratives that pierce the veil of metaphysics. Something deemed half-way obsolete by many in the 20th century. Here we explore his metaphysical relationship with arguably his largest influence. That being Spinoza.

I've noticed a lot of UA-cam regarding philosophy seems to be 'pop-culture' philosophy if that makes sense. If it's not, it tends to be really dull, dry, non-inspiring slideshow videos lol. Which are great, but I'm hoping to bridge the artistic video gap with something that actually delves into core ideas.

One thing I don't understood about Deleuze was this (maybe someone can help): Deleuze embraced Spinoza's immanence, but starts to differ from Spinoza when he claims God is of the modes. At the end of Difference and Repetition he says to "Turn the modes around." It seems that he is turning against the unity of Spinoza's God in favor of Difference? I'd appreciate if someone could help. (Again great video and the editing was amazing!)
