I’m definitely adding The System of Objects to my reading list. Moving from market himanism To self-realization is something I have definitely noticed as of late with the rise of social media.
I've owned a copy of The System of Objects for many years, as the structuralism/postructuralism section of my philosophy collection would be incomplete without it.

This is a great video! Thank you. I couldn’t find this phrase “sorcerer(s) of atmosphere” 5:03 in the text, but it’s a great phrase and I wish he had! He does mention “engineer of atmosphere” in a context as you use it here , and “neo-sorcerers of consumption” in the context of advertising gurus.
That’s an achievement I admire! Any recommendation on selection and order? Just finished ‘for a critique of the political economy of the sign’ and decided I was going to make 2021 the year of Baudrillard. I can’t help but think he understood something no one else did because based on what I glean from secondary sources his theories explain some of the more absurd aspects of contemporary culture. Just not sure whether I should go back and read system of objects or if I was to move forward what I should read next. I would like to understand how his thought developed and his foundational ideas.
What five books would you recommend for starting with Baudrillard? Preferably books which are the most relevant regarding today's cultural and societal conditions.
Beautiful🎉 what a way to summarize a very Interesting text. Everything is an important idea and your voice (cadence, delivering, range) makes it so pleasant to hear.
There should be a wax figure of Baudrillard amongst the other celebrity simulacra at Madame Tussauds wax museum. People would take "selfies" with it. This would become a "thing."

Watched the intro, this is going to be good. You give a good summary of what is about to come, accompanied by a nice voice recorded with a decent mic. This is going to be a great help for my essay. Especially since you use citations and interpreted them afterwards.
First of all I want to say that all of your videos are well articulated. I love your work and what you do. But this video was one of your best because I love his philosophy. I absolutely appreciate this video haha. I was also wondering when you were going to do a video about this philosopher. And like I said please keep doing more philosophy videos about postmodernism. The best thing to do is to bought books that are an introduction to social philosophy and political philosophy. That way you can situate the author within certain schools of thought and start to understand how they approach certain concepts . Sometimes companions to philosophy books also help.
Keep reading. With luck, the ending of parts will give context to the beginning or the areas in which you don't fully understand. And after you can contemplate the whole.
