Hey, it’s so awesome to see your adventures , but when I came across this video I was totally surprised. I am from the United States and live in Pennsylvania, but my mom is directly from Alsfeld, Germany. well the reason I was surprised is because the old man you saw painting his house is my Opa (Grandpa) my mom’s Dad. My mouth dropped. So cool to see and also it made me miss Alsfeld since I had visited a lot since I was little. Just had to share that and how cool it was to see
Wow, that's crazy! Does he paint and touch up his house everyday?. Such a cute well maintained home, you can tell he takes pride in it :) Gorgeous village. We have nothing like that in Australia
For us Germans a lot is so natural not only with us but throughout Europe, the food, the beer, the great architecture, everywhere you can print directly on a postcard, everything so normal and natural for us, we often forget how beautiful our country is, we should be so proud of it when young people from Australia visit us and have such a beautiful unforgettable time with us. Thank you both for reminding us how beautiful our country is.
Well most of the old buildings in bigger towns like Frankfurt were destroyed during the allied bombings in WW2...that´s why you´ll find much more of them in smaller towns or villages because they were simply no bombing targets back then......
Häh? Sorry I can´t follow you at all.....you are talking what ever about WW1...and I was talking in my comment about why are less medi-eval buildings in Germany´s bigger towns....I simply see no coherence in my comment to your response...
Spaghetti ice cream looks much nicer - and keeps the spaghetti looks longer - when you don't get it "to go" but have it on a regular plate at the ice cream shop. Best part, though, is the half frozen whipped cream underneath the ice cream.
Actually, just to be a bit of a nerd here, the thing used to create the spaghetti effect is called a ricer (at least in Britain). Also, while the half-frozen whipped cream is definitely the best part (icing on the cake, anyone?), the traditional way was to use coconut or other nuts for the grated cheese part, but I do not mind the white chocolate that is the done thing these days.
The ice cream shop which invented Spaghettieis serves it with white chocolate - you nearly never get it with coconut anywhere. At least in the last 30 years ;) I never got an Spaghettieis with other nuts, and in 30 years only one time with coconut - an that wasn't very good.
I have been living in Germany my entire life but I have never seen it from this perspective, I think I fell in love with Germany because of your videos
One of the best things about traveling with you is seeing different places with the wide-eyed wonder that you both have. What beautiful scenery you showed on this amazing Germany series. Thank you!
The German countryside is definitely on my travel list now, thanks to you guys! It's just WAY too cute! Thanks for being our "eyes" until we're there. :)
There are plenty of things to check out close to/in Frankfurt (just in case you're arrival here). If you're interested in Castles I'd recommend "Braunfels". You're interested in history? Check out the "Hessenpark" (with a fully rebuild roman castle just around the corner) etc etc etc Have fun :o)
Sally And Ed yes,Walk through Speicherstadt to Hafencity to Elbphilharmonie. Visit the church Michel and nearby Kramer Amtstuben (so cute old buildings). Go to Landungsbrücken, if you have alle dayticket dir public Transport, you can Ride The ferrys (circle Line), dont forget to Go upstairs (in ferry) to sit outside and have an nice View. At Landungsbrücken you have to see alter Elbtunnel. It is so old! Feel save, you can Walk everywhere,There are no nogo areas here (yes, i am from Hamburg ;). And every German younger than 50 can speak Englisch. There is so much more, ask!!! Best!
Can we just take a moment to address how jess looks at stephen. It always makes me smile. Also im re-watching some of the older vlogs and wanted to watch the Germany ones again.
But most tourist simply ignore that they have to have a permission to use drones in public places/space. You could be fined quite easily for t hat thing.
I am a German who loves to watch videos to see what foreigners think of my country. When I watched your November 2015 episodes I heard Jess say that she would love to visit Luxembourg but the hotels are to expensive like 600-ish. My recommendation: get a hotel/Airbnb in Trier, Germany for one tenth of the price and take a 50 minutes train ride into Luxembourg for €19.40
It’s wonderful and a tribute to the Adventure in Life, in how you both Travel. I love 💕 the fact that you journey while splurging on Cuisine 🥮🍨Hotels 🏰 and Helicoptering 🚁 and 🛶.
very nice couple, who showed me places in my own country I have never seen before, or even known how beautiful they are! Thanks for showing my country all over the world!
Omg!! Jess you made me cry at the end of the video. I love Egypt with a passion..I completely understand your emotions. I just started watching your vlogs this past week and you lifted my spirits. I've always wanted to travel overseas but i never had the funds to pursuit it, you guys are really helping me get motivated about wanting to see new places. love you guys!!
I've really enjoyed your Germany trip. I've lived and studied in Marburg for about 5 years and now I live in Frankfurt. Sometimes when you live there you take it for granted because you see it every day. But seeing you two experience these cities and being so blown away makes me appreciate living here so much more and it makes me realize once again how lucky I am to live and have lived in these cities. So thank you :) Keep doing what you're doing and be your authentic wonderful selves! Happy travels!
Next time you are in Frankfurt try: Grüne Sosse either with meat or boiled eggs and potatos. Traditional food from Frankfurt. The best if you visit on eof the old Apfelweinkneipen ( avoid the tourist Traps) in Sachsenhausen...
you are soooo amazing....I just lové your tapes..... I am German, I lived in Seattle for 6 years, 2 years in NY. City and now I live on the Corsican Island in France- . So I finally discovered you and got Addict. Thank you su you
Hi, i´ve seen your video´s the first time and i thank you soo much!! When you live here in Germany you don´t see a lot of the beauty any more. But when you will come for a next trip you have to visit the north of our contry and the islands they also sooo beautiful.
You are so cute! It's nice to see how people from other countries discover Germany! There are really lots of nice places. Wish you many interesting travels! I will follow your canal , that's fun!
The tale of Red riding hood is actually of French origin but made its way to Germany via the Hugenottes, who fled to Germany and told the tale to the brothers Grimm in Kassel, who wrote it down and made it part of the famous collection "Deutsche Hausmärchen".
Just love your perspective on my country. Especially that you visited smaller and towns in Germany, that are no prior tourist targets like Marburg and Alsbach. Here are so many nice little towns around.
In Germany we have a lot of medium-sized beautiful cities. You visited some. I thank you for that!.. I studied in Marburg..long, long time ago... You brought back the old feelings to me.💖

Glad you enjoyed our city - Marburg is a treat indeed
Loved your Germany series! Can’t wait to see Egypt. I love your choice of sound track you add to some of your vlogs - any chance you can list the songs featured at the end? Happy travelling!
Hi, I loved your vid. Thanx! What foreigners mostly miss is the north of germany. Especially , the islands. But its soo beautiful there. You should visit this part of germany. Only germans seem to know how beautiful it is there. In summer its very hard to get a hotelroom, because lots of germans spend their holidays there. If you travel with less money you should try some Jugendherberge. There are very great.
There's a really cool Canal System that runs down Frankfurt. There's boats on the water that are restaurants and there's bars along the whole thing. It's a really cool spot to grab a drink and just enjoy the cool breeze of the summer night there. Had an 8 Hour layover and was able to ride the bus down there with a group of friends. Really cool spot. Super pumped about Egypt! Would love to go there some day. Your channel just gets better with every video. Love it!
Awesome video, I am visiting Germany in December can't wait. It is amazing the places Bundaberg Ginger Beer turns up. I was in Romania with a mate last October and found some Bundaberg Ginger Beer at a Cafe in Bucharest. :)
Very, very nice.. i hope you did enjoy this trip in our nice Country.. The Germans are better as what other People thinking about us. We love the Life and we love you all! I am not from Germany, i am from the Netherlands, but i live soooo long times here, and i love this Country...Best regards from a netherlands people..
I feel like I need to visit as many German towns and cities as I can because they all seem incredible! I went to Berlin and Nuremberg last time I was there and loved both!
Xavier Leong, Germany is realy small, but with such a variety of different countrysides, just incredible. The north is completly different to the south, east or west. Infact, as a German I decided not to fly to any far away places around the world anymore instead to finally explore my country by car. Given each trip at least one week in any direction. I started in Frankfurt last week and drove to Cologne through Westerwald(Forest with beautiful small lakes, famous for excellent mineral water) from Cologne via beautiful wine country to Schwarzwald( our famous black forrest). That trip was amazing. I tried to avoid the Autobahn and had the best time to drive through small villages. Give Germany a chance👍
If you're ever returning to Germany, you need to visit Lüneburg!!! It is amazingly beautiful and veeery old. Some of the buildings even more than a 1000 years! Back then, it became rich by selling and trading salt, you can still visit the salt mine. Also, it is a students city and a big german telenovela is beeing filmed there as well.
It is enjoyable watching affluent young Australians doing their obligatory European walk-a-about. I remember working with them in hotels in Holland in my early twenties.
YAY you tried it! Steve is right definitely depends on where you buy it from on how well it’s served it’s much better when served on a plate at a sit down restaurant!
Thank you for yopur amazing view about Germany! And YES, you have to come back, incause there are so many things you have to see! For example: Have you ever visit the "Black Forest"? At Bad Wildbad is a tour called "Baumwipfel Pfad". It is a walk over the top of the trees. Our Karlsruhe, the "Fächerstadt", that means if you look on the city map it will look like a fan. Our the Lake Konstanz, Heidelberg, Freiburg, Kaiserstuhl, Schluchsee, and so on... Lets talk about food: "Maultaschen", "Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte", "Zwiebelrostbraten mit Spätzle", "Schupfnudeln mit Sauerkraut", and so on... Please come back and visit the South-West (Baden-Württemberg) of Germany. Okay, the other regions are pretty too, but I fell in love to Baden-Württemberg, U2?
wow it's so cool that you've been to Alsfeld! there's this huge hippie festival close to Alsfeld every year, so I go to Alsfeld by train (it's just around the corner from my hometown actually) every year and I really like it there!
Nice video as always from the travel vlog OGs. The doll was so cool, you can tell the entire story to a kid, complete with different characters and voices, with just the one doll!
When you live for a long time in a place after a while you kind of get used to it and the magic wears out. I do an exercise from time to time: I try to look at the place I'm in with the new eyes, the ones I discovered the place with, to slow the pace a little bit and be a tourist in my town. It's magical. Thank you for the world through your eyes. :)
you have to visit cologne. I dont know why so many travellers are skipping that city. its beautiful and got the biggest cathedral u can imagine. lots of veggie restaurants aswell and a superb music scene and the famous carnival. give it a try maybe next year :)
Wow. Such a great series! I'm from Germany. I even am regularly in Alsfeld, but I never took a closer look. 😓 Now I'd like to travel that fairy rout as well! 😍
Love your enthusiasm! Even though you guys are experienced Travelers and have been to Germany twice! It's that child within you that you evoke! don't ever become cynical! I could see you guys 70 years down the road - literally still with that youthful enthusiasm! Actually when you meet those 90 year old cute couples full of that youthful enthusiasm, they were like that 70 years before! think about that!
The best part about spaghetti ice is the half frozen whipped cream under the ice!
Yesssss
Absolutely. Spaghettieis is my favorite and unfortunately here in Belgium nobody knows it.
Wait... that is like the thing noone i know likes because it has no taste and is just so cold and hard that you cant eat it. Wtf
Yes! I love the half frozen whipped cream. I sometimes buy this litte frozen "Windbeutel" and eat them when there are still very, very cold :-)
Das die Sahne die unten rein kommt lecker

Wow, that's crazy! Does he paint and touch up his house everyday?. Such a cute well maintained home, you can tell he takes pride in it :) Gorgeous village. We have nothing like that in Australia
@@vanessamartin3218 It actually was not painting, but cleaning using a paint brush.

I'm an Australian who studied at Marburg University... very cool seeing these familiar places again 😃
My sis studied there, and I learnt to speak and think and dream English in Canberra, so I feel ya, mate.

I can guide you and show you some nice places.
That is the cutest little red riding hood/grandma/wolf doll I’ve ever seen!
One of the best things about traveling with you is seeing different places with the wide-eyed wonder that you both have. What beautiful scenery you showed on this amazing Germany series. Thank you!

The Northsea is not the Baltic Sea
On the north sea go to the island the name is Norderney

I do an exercise from time to time: I try to look at the place I'm in with the new eyes, the ones I discovered the place with, to slow the pace a little bit and be a tourist in my town. It's magical. Thank you for the world through your eyes. :)
@Silas Nacita: Always cool vibes in Marburg :)
You are so funny. Yes that must be the vibes😂👍
Thumbs up for Marburg
you have to visit cologne.

Now I'd like to travel that fairy rout as well! 😍
Just grew up in Alsfeld and studied in Marburg. Strange to see both towns in this video :D

...seen as he's an old man living in Germany he's probably up since 5AM 😂
Love your enthusiasm!
Even though you guys are experienced Travelers and have been to Germany twice!
It's that child within you that you evoke! don't ever become cynical! I could see you guys 70 years down the road - literally still with that youthful enthusiasm!
Actually when you meet those 90 year old cute couples full of that youthful enthusiasm, they were like that 70 years before! think about that!
You must visit Hamburg!😍
I ate that when i went to Germany in 2015!! I was only 9, but i remember it well!! It was so good
