Amazing vlogs! I just found you guys. The holocaust memorial in Berlin is actually there to portray how Germany got in deeper and deeper with that horrible path. When you first walk into the memorial, the stones are very low and as you walk in deeper the stones get higher and higher. But it happens gradually and you don't notice it until you are lost...so it is a metaphor or symbol for how the holocaust happend.
Flying The Nest Love to be a part of flying the nest 😁 In germany (Bavaria) we have a thing called "Kerwa"(Bierfest). Every village has it once a year. Basically you drink as much beer until you drop :D

So funny that they brought up the World Cup. I just happened to time my trip to Munich in 2014 PERFECTLY with the US vs. Germany game and somehow made it into a beer garden before it started AND was in Frankfort (again coincidentally) for the final game when they won the World Cup. It was INSANE
Hey guys, i might be a bit late but hope you enjoyed your trip. Because you were wondering about the "Ampelmann" souvenir. And I want to shed some light onto it. As you might've noticed that they look different in 8:40 and on the 2nd traffic light at about 8:46. This is due to the Seperation into west and east berlin (and naturally west + east germany) In the East the thicker one on the second green Traffic light was used. And after reunification they should've been replaced but the Berlin people loved them so much that they stayed. So this Ampelmann is something you can only see in the Eastern side of Germany.
Correct. Except for the fact that since 2005 they use the Eastern Ampelmännchen in the Western parts of Berlin as well. There was this small town near Wuppertal that switched to Ost-Ampelmännchen entirely as well but don't ask me the name of it.
The 'Ampelmann' with the hat is the one from former east germany. It got some kind of cult status now, that is why you find all the souveniers with it.
Well, imagine your country is merging with another country and suddenly a lot of the stuff you connect with your country - like Trabbis or Spreewaldgurken or whatever - just vanishes. Wouldn't you want to hold onto whatever you feel were good about what you knew up to this point? In the case of the East Germans, it were the "Ampelmännchen" (which honestly are cuter than the West German version) and the "Sandmännchen" (a character from children TV which originally the West Germans copied from East German TV).
The point with the Ampelmännchen is that they are different in east Berlin than in West Berlin. That’s kinda cool because you can tell we’re you are right now.
I went to Berlin on a school trip and we stayed by the Alexandraplatz and we went up the tv tower and all the things you do in Berlin and it was my favourite school trip and one of favourite places I've ever been definitely my fave city. in fact I was there just after u after Germany got kicked out of the World Cup

Yikes that was an awkward moment for me since I praised them so much prior to the World Cup being world champions and having a decent chance. Oh well at least they don’t have Neymar in their side!

I love Berlin. It's my favourite European capital city, and I'll be there in February 2019 to shoot a 4-day vlog. I can't wait. German beer, German bratwurst, Hertha Berlin...
You'll catch Hertha in the second leg of the season which is traditionally when they are in full breakdown mode and look like a completely different team than they did up to the winter break.

Great video's guys! I just want them to be longer! Lol!!! I used to love some of your old ones that are like 20 min like nearly sometimes! Lol!! So glad you decided to go back to Berlin!! We will also go back to visit there in September at some point too! Soooo exciting! If you ever come to Nashville, make sure you get a very experienced driver here as well as people drive terrible here most everyday I experience it and it is not easy roads to understand immediately. I was in Berlin in 1995 with my father (A place called: Friedericks Strasse were rebuild after the wall fall). We travel from East Berlin to West Berlin - we saw Alexanders Platz: The museum island were we visit Pergamem museum... I love the Babylon Wall (The blue colour and Lions). We saw Tier garten, Brandenburg Tor, Unter den Linden, Sieges Søjle. Geschckte Kirche (Also called the lipstick) and a lot more. We finish the day off - whit a beer and Chessecake. On Alexander Platz we saw a statue of Michael Jackson on one of the buildings. I think it something to do with the Promotion of the album: History.
