For me, I don’t use a beauty blender or foundation brush. Clean fingers for foundation application. I also don’t use a bronzer. Always looks like mud on my face. I use two different shades of blush to accomplish dimension. I also don’t use a highlighter. You have a great video. Thanks!
I'm trying to do two shades of blush as well. Can you let me know what brand and colors you use? I'm very fair, so I may have to adjust for that. Thank you in advance.
Thank you Bobbie. This Canuck loves your videos. This morning for the first time I tried a Jones Road Beauty miracle balm. For my almost 67 year old skin it’s absolutely lovely. Merry Christmas to you and yours and all your subscribers. Merry Christmas everyone.
I'm completely with you. I'll be 65 in a month and for me 2025 will be a no buy year except for mascara. So, I'm looking for a lot of how to use and love what you have and weed out what you don't love or what you can't count on being consistent. I'm also going to project pan but no "hate panning". If I don't like it it's going to get tossed. The project pan will be to focus on using up the older cream items.
Hi I’m 64 and doing no buy makeup and on skin products also. This is going to be hard as I’m a compulsive buyer on line. So my goal is to pay off my home this year, and that is my incentive. I’m tired of wasting money on stuff that eventually goes bad and then I have to throw out. So I’m focusing on using what I have. I kept track on how much I finished completely this last year and it came to 120 items. Bad part is I brought in 165. So all this is showing me I need to change.😳
Thank you for this content, at my age, 63, less is more and using products that work for me and not what the latest fad is works for ME. Everyone should use what works for them without fear of someone getting angry WTheck!! I didn’t know about the facial wipes so thanks for that tip!! You keep doing you and those that like your suggestions will follow even if they don’t agree… we can learn from one another!! Stay blessed!!
This has been the most “let’s get real” video from a beauty influencer that I’ve ever seen. Less expensive makeup and skincare brands are killing it! There’s no reason to ever spend big on high end products unless there’s something special that’s on sale. I’m way older than you and still have hooded eyelids where even waterproof mascara smudges. Eyelid primer doesn’t help. I haven’t found any mascara that also keeps my lashes curled. I’m going to try to master putting on natural looking eyelash clusters so I don’t look like a droopy lashed raccoon at the end of a special day or night. I’ve given up on winged eyeliner because my lids are too hooded & crepey. I use a smudge proof eyeliner pencil to tightline and a dark powder eyeshadow just above my lashes. I totally agree with you about how highlighter and glowy foundations accentuate every flaw on older skin. For brush cleansing I’ve been using a cheap clarifying shampoo. I also agree that large eyeshadow palettes are a waste. What gets me is that so many now include red, orange, pink and yellow shades. Why would I want my eyes to look like I’ve got a bad cold or an eyelid rash? I disagree with you about tubed blush. I think it’s more hygienic and easier to dispense than other types but I do have powders & creams as well. Happy Holidays!
You can never get in trouble with me! I REALLY appreciate that you give your honest opinion and I agreed with you on almost everything. (The only thing is I really like flower bomb blush - I just put small dab on my brush or fingers and put it on - could be I found a shade of that brand that really looks good on me.) I like your practical approach and that you are not assuming we can spend $100s - $1000s on make-up and skin care products. I have taken your advice on many things but I have much fairer skin than yours. Hope you have a Merry Christmas and blessed 2025. 🎄
😂 I agreed with everything! I thought I was the only one who didn't wear eyeliner, I don't put it on my top lid lines either. Can't wait for your next pos, Merry Christmas / Happy New Year
Thanks for all your sharing and your experiences with products, which I've found to be very helpful. I love your channel...Merry Christmas to you and yours! 💚
I can’t imagine why anyone would be disturbed by your choices about what you want to buy or not to buy. I too am over buying things that are ridiculously over priced. Like Beauty Blenders.
Your editing is great! Do you do it yourself or have an editor? I enjoy your honesty, practicality and relatability! Have a blessed Christmas and happy New Year 🙏🎄🥳
You are my identical ‘likes/dislikes’ twin that I’ve never met, across the pond! Glad I’m not the only one who feels like that🥰Happy Christmas to you and your family. ❤🇬🇧
Bobbie, thank you for a fun video! We're all different with different needs and wants, and that should never get you into trouble! I love large eye shadow palettes because I love the variety and challenge of using different shades each time I do my makeup. Wishing you a blessed Christmas! ❤
I agree w/ a lot of these. I love eyeshadow palettes; I just like to have fun w/ colors. Thank you for being here for me ! Hi Mrs. Betty 👋❣️ We're going to have a blizzard on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day here in Alaska. ❄ Have a blessed Christmas, celebrating the birth of Our Lord. Thank God & stay happy every day. 💝🎄✝️
What a great video! We are on the same page. I absolutely can't stand white eyeliner, false lashes, long-wearing liquid lipstick, and highlighter. I will never buy shadow palettes with more than 6 colors and "theme makeup" like Disney is a reason NOT to buy makeup. Same for celebrity skincare/makeup. The best skincare I have ever used comes from a few independent companies (Stratia, Prequel, and Experiment) and is priced around drugstore costs. One of my favs is the Prequel Gleanser Cleanser which is incredibly hydrating but never leaves a film. It is $18.00 for 13.5 oz or $1.33 per oz. I am an artist and I use Murphy's Oil Soap to clean my expensive oil painting brushes and my makeup brushes. It cleans oil paint off easily even from a wool sweater but leaves brushes soft and not splayed. It is perfect for makeup brushes for the same reason. It is $3.99 for 32 oz or $0.12 per oz. Cheers!
@@MiMiOnTheGoGo Hourglass has a good one. Beauty Pie does, too. Clinique is good. Caliray is good (not sure about the spelling). My daughter likes the Tarte one.
I agree totally with you Bobbie! A couple things I was confused about, but 🤷🏼♀️🙃🤦🏼♀️ I’m a natural blonde. lol. I too refuse to spend extra money on cleansing balms and or oils and cleansers. I love Beakey Beauty sponges and there are even some cheaper ones that are fantastic. Keep on doing what you’re doing and bringing to us. Love your honesty and boldness. 😊
The secret to liquid liquid: shea butter. I use it on top of the lipstick instead of or under the glossy toppers. Soaks right in, keeps my lips comfortable all day. Because shea butter is such a close analog to natural skin oil, the lipstick doesn't budge or bleed. Try it -- I couldn't stand the feel of the liquid lipsticks till I accidentally discovered the shea butter trick.
I am all for spending money IF worth it, but agree with you on all of these. My absolute favorite oil cleanse is grape seed oil. Seriously, big ole bottle in the grocery store. Another viewer mentioned beef tallow-also wonderful. 😊It removes every trace of sunscreen and waterproof mascara. Wipe that off with an unscented baby wipe which are oddly softer than face wipes and wash cloths, really cheap, and don’t leave the film that face wipes do. Plus doesn’t get a washcloth all greasy. Lastly, use a gentle cream or foaming cleanser depending on the season.
I hear this about cleansing wipes all the time. However, when I drove semi over the road with my husband, cleansing wipes became a necessity since it’s not always convenient or safe to wash your face in a public restroom. I just used a clean wet cloth to rinse afterwards. I still use them on my lazy days & always rinse afterwards. No problems. Same with micellar water. I agree with you on everything else! And false eyelashes…forget about it! 😂 👀 Keeping it simple at 56! Merry Christmas Bobbie! 🎄
I appreciate your honesty and straightforward comments and I agree with you completely. I also like to simplify my skincare and makeup routine as I deal with dry and aging skin. I really enjoy your videos - thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinions.❤😊
I agree with everything you said! I feel the same way about buying expensive items when I can get the same affect from something much cheaper and I never use highlighter either...you are me...somehow 😂😂
I live in a small space, I only buy small pallets because I have no where to put a large pallet. I only have a few, they are all “travel size”. I’m totally happy with the few I own, I still have colors Imnever use.
My skin care and cosmetics are gems from the drugstore - I've been using the same cleanser, moisturizer and SPF 30 sunscreen for years 🥰 My makeup brushes are from Eco Tools ... I wash them every week with the Dr. Bronner's Unscented castile soap. Enjoy the holiday season everyone 🎄
I have been a Clinique girl for years. I have tried lower costproducts, but go back to Clinique. Elemis has an odd smell and burns my eyes. I do think the ZERO and recently bougt a bogo at Ulta of the small jars. Do not buy a large container of the Clinique balm unless you are going to use alot. After awhile it gets a smell and gets a weird texture.
I won’t buy the Sephora best lipsticks gifts sets etc, but I do like the brand mini gift sets like the Merit mini flush balm blushes, or Rare Beauty mini blush trios. I like them because they are products that I want to try and I am being given the option to have small, mini sizes in several colors that I will actually be able to finish, as opposed to a full size.
I don't wear eye makeup or foundation just concealer and blush so Bioderma works great to get sunscreen and the rest off. However the night moisturizer I love is Skincetucials Triple Lipid and that runs about $150. Can anyone suggest a dupe for Triple Lipid?

Same on palettes…I have a couple of nude shades, but love to just use my bronzer😂 Your point on loose powder is right…just heard a makeup formulator say that pressed powders have waxes and components to keep it pressed, which loose does not…so it all depends on your skin and what you want ❤
There's a reason for makeup wipes --too sick to wash your face. I need a double lung transplant and I know that most people don't know how much your oxygen levels drop with upper arm motion but it does and makes me gasp on 10 liters O2. I can sit down and brace my elbows on my knees and wipe. BUT I rinse the wipe in water and go back over my face.

It cosmetics CC cream is considered full coverage?! How did I not know this? That is the only foundation I use and it doesn't look make up-y at all on me. Just gives me a nice canvas to work from.
