Thank you so much for your measurements 87mm 38mm! You're an absolute star, saved me lots of time!!!!!!!!! ❤ made perfect wedge from 6 mm steel 50mm x 87mm with chamfer on one side starting at 78mm - 87 with a 10mm flat
Good luck. Getting the clamps off you can use a bar and just leaver them off that’s what I used to do before getting the tool. Putting them back on I used a tool I made out of flat bar, I used 2 large screwdrivers to open the exhaust clamp then slide the self made tool in. Bit of a pig of a job, I would say probably the worst thing to do on a T4 is those clamps
Used the modded brake pad and long pry bar tonight, the trick was getting the downpipe pushed and pulled as far as possible, 15min job in the end. I reckon VW are right with their tool, the pronged sealey/eBay one is over complicated and risky
To get the "C" clamps off with the engine mounted, I used a metal tow hook, threading it at an angle through the engine bay an onto the top of the clamp - hefty pull and they come off.

That’s awesome I’m glad it helped you out, better than the aftermarket tool 👍
What he didnt tell you is i had to go look under bonnet on mine to get all the vacumn pipes back in correct places
Lol...the egr/turbo control valves are confusing as hell..
Just about to take on those clamps, made a tool out of an old brake pad. 87mm cheers👍

It ain`t the end. It`s just a beginning :D. Good work mate. Cant wait to hear it running. Take it easy for a few hundred miles.
Make a tool for exhaust clamp it's like a balljoint splitter with wider legs as you screw in centre bolt it straightened the curve easy make one

Ooooh so close
👍
I've got one of those clamps to go on the left side of the exhaust. I ain't looking forward to fitting it tbh
Not gunna lie, they are a pig, good luck
@@TwiggsT4 I know lol.🤣
Hi 👍👍👍👍🤞🤞🤞🤞👋👋👋🇩🇪✌️Kai
The exhaust clamps were made by the devil
💥💥💥💥kaboom💥💥💥💥🤞
There’s an easier way too do them spring clamps don’t buy one of the cheapo tools there shite just use the u-bolt hack and a short a13mm spanner
Yeah that’s how I wanted to do the clamps but I didn’t have a u bolt that was big enough, will get one for future use 👍
