I watch a lot of homestead channels and I noticed recently how Ben Hollar of Hollar Homestead makes his growing rows. He scoops out soil from the pathways and builds up the growing rows so they are raised. It really seems to help with heavy rain management. And it seems like whatever soaks in at the pathway level helps to water the root zones of the plants in the hilled up areas.
NE OK is very wet in the spring! When I started gardening here, we used to be in Zone 5b, now we're up to 7, a.k.a. a subtropical zone! It's awesome and exciting because of the variety of things you can plant, but we do get a lot of water. Enjoy the journey!!!
I don’t remember a more windy & wet spring here in Oklahoma. Its been quite a wild spring! This is why flowers are so special. They are little joy filled miracles. You got this! We’re rooting for you & cheering you on!! 💪🏻😊 🙏
I just KNOW I am going to laugh at my stress come August when everything is blooming like crazy
I know this is a year old & you probably have fixed the low spots by now but there are some pretty flowers called Plains Coreopsis that love puddles. They grow wild in the ditches in KS but are also available to purchase a catalog called Wildseed Farms (they have tried & true flowers similar to Johnny’s). They way they grow would be beautiful in bouquets.
Sorry you had so much water pooling there. If you still wanted to use that space at some point you could just dump a couple loads of good soil there. Our property is sloped, but we still had to put in some French drains to keep it from puddling in certain areas to carry it on down.
always add soil to newly tilled areas to replace what was taken away ie grass, roots etcI like to build up 6 inches higher
Hang in there! Adversity is what you need to face in order to become successful.
I’m catching up with your story. Can we talk about those oh so cute boots??? Share please 5:00
Thank you! I love them 😍 They are from Rifle Paper Keds collab.
