You brought the biggest smile to my face talking about Yahtzee and Alzheimer's. One of my fondest memories is of playing Yahtzee with my grandmother who had Alzheimer's and how excited she would get when she beat us.
Of course what you do is valuable. It's just that the nuances are different for everyone. For me with ADHD and an entire family with ADHD, your conversations with Dr. Amen were extremely valuable. Your experiences in your youth and the way you dealt with them were also very inspiring due to certain parallels. The way you deal with Stephen also lets you learn a lot. The way you respond to your children and appreciate them for who they are is so exemplary. We can learn a lot from you and your mother too! Showing off your new hairstyle has value in that you simply keep your followers updated. You let us participate in your life and thereby increase your chances of influencing us. And since you have extremely healthy, sensible, appreciative and valuable views (which has become a rare commodity these days), anything you do to continue to keep your followers in your life is very, very valuable! For me, selfies are a way of showing self appreciation and self love as I am accepting myself for who I am. However, when regular unknown people post their pictures they normally don't receive as much hate as you sometimes receive which makes a huge difference. Being complimented and hyped up by friends and family on your socials is amazing, whilst being shamed and criticised for the most silly things is a whole different experience..
Yes, it was the thing to do! In the 60’s and early 70’s we would Go to a concert, every weekend, in Seattle all the bands played. and buy some acid outside the venue…lots of hippies walking around selling anything you might want. Sooooo fun. But I am an old lady now and must try to keep my few remaining brain cells. Yes they would announce if there was any bad dope out there. Saw Crosby Stills Nash and Young, led Zepplin, Doors, Santana, grand Funk railroad, Three Dog Night, so many I can’t even think of them all. Ahhhh those were the days.

The hardest most demanding and taxing era of parenthood for me has been the last 10 years. Shes 36, at 25 she wasnt my mini me anymore and starting her own family. Dynamics changed exponentially. I regret being the cool mum friend.
My older brother is autistic, he’s now 34 and I’m 29. I will say that if he spills on his shirt, it’s coming off in the next couple seconds so my mom keeps a spare outfit with her and can get him to go to the restroom to change it now! People always told us that the puberty would be the most difficult but that the older he got, the better his behavior would get and that is so true! I didn’t believe it but it is true. I do have a bit of advice, make sure that you make time for Poppi as she grows up: go on her field trips, to her ball games, to things that are important to her. My mom missed out on a lot, and I resented it. You’re doing a great job mama, I’m also a single mom we separated around the same time you all did and I have a 4 and 2 year old. Love your videos!! Especially with your mom and Mannon!
My kids would say to me “ you sound just like Grandma “ , I would say” no I don’t! “ , but I realize yes I do . I’m ok with that now, my mom was the best and I miss her so much.
I take selfies to acknowledge the weight loss I have worked on myself, love myself, but to also remember how much I have grown. Being able to look back and see growth or remembering good situations even in a selfie, I feel helps you remember everyday you do better. Mind anyone reading this, I had a 10 year relationship I stepped away from at the beginning of this year and I was able to look back TODAY and see how much healthier, happier, and more independent I am. Thats my intentions anyway. Anyone can say what they want and I couldn't care less, tbh.
Laura, I think you are the definition of grace under pressure. The way that you have stayed true to yourself through this extremely challenging time while basically live streaming your separation and divorce; while being a mom to two toddlers. I’m am blown away by you each time I watch your content or read one of your books. It seems like you are adding all the right questions and I think there’s always too much of something. If someone’s day or life revolves around getting a perfect selfie, it’s just addiction in another form and that’s never healthy. It seems like it boils down to intent. What is the intent for posting it and what, if anything do you hope to get out of it. I think if people are living a life that revolves around being perfect or getting that perfect photo to get the perfect partner, or it is what their self esteem is based on that then it’s a problem. I feel like if you want to take a picture of your face one day because you want to memorialize that feeling or that day and/or because you feel beautiful or fierce or whatever emotion really, there’s nothing wrong with that. You are an exceptionally beautiful human and people like to admire beauty. Your beauty is only yours and you should get to decide what you want to do, or not do, with it. Beauty can also be an addiction. Like, I saw a picture of Jennifer Love Hewitt after all her work she’s had done and it broke my heart. This society is sick and the people who spend their time spreading hate and lies are jealous and clearly miserable with who they are and the life they have chosen for themselves. I personally love to see your beautiful face and want to know when you die your hair because I’m a girl and I like those things and like to talk about those things. The world is a big place of all different kinds of people, so while your hair dye might not be some peoples cup of tea, it is for many others. You just need to stick to being you and following your intuition. Also the one with your mom are amazing for those of us who have shit moms.
When i see you post pictures of new hair/clothes etc...i think- its nice to see you have happy moment. And then I'm happy for you. So there can be value. I'm not a comparative person I just genuinely like to see my friends/family and others happy. Mirror neurons I suppose. ❤

The egoism - the filters and the angles. I don’t think it’s healthy at all. Think of Poppy. Do you want her looking at people on the Internet and comparing herself and feeling badly? Bette Midler is amazing. But wow to see Joni Mitchell and CSNY in the prime. Wow. I LOVE YOUR MOM SO MUCH. ☮️ So agree that wanting a baby is often about just wanting the baby and the newness and the parties and attention. But having a baby is about raising and nurturing a human, forever. So true that things used to be much more focused on emotional development and learning to play games and take turns and sing songs … that’s all preschool meds to be. We learn through play! I never take selfies! I always look so weird in them. When I look in the mirror, I feel I look nice, but I take a selfie, and I don't look the same. Maybe I'm just really ugly, and no one has told me yet. Lol
Im a 42yr old lady I find taking a selfie uncomfortable and strange but thats just me I dont mind other people taking them and i have no issue with a family photo or a photo of me on vacation.
You're definitely not overthinking it! There needs to be some serious conversations about why we post what we post. I personally think posting selfies is shallow, or maybe vain. And yes, the reason why I follow you is because of your humor!
If I didn't take or post selfies there'd be no photos of me at all. No one photographs me. Some people don't have loving people who care about them or their important moments or when they are looking beautiful to photograph them thus selfies.
Maybe someone who is pregnant and wants to bleach their hair because they love your hair could then decide to not do it anymore because you changed it to the darker tone. That could be valuable and keep her body healthier. But also, everything you do doesn't have to be "valuable".

When it comes to posting pictures i would say a picture of You changing your hair can inspire someone else to make a change to their hair that they have been thinking about! If it makes you feel vein or you are afraid people will think that I can see why you'd not want to but unless it's excessive like every single day or you are half naked or something then I wouldn't say it's NOT adding value.
