GTA V - NPCs drive off overpass and cause never-ending chain reaction explosions

- When I'm bored I like to take a bus to the overpass that goes to Los Santos Freeway from Elgin Ave, near the hospital and bus station. On the overpass there's a couple sections of barrier missing, and if you wedge the bus in between the debris and opposite barrier, you can then get all the NPC traffic to funnel themselves off the ledge and plummet to the highway below. The explosions cause traffic backups which then themselves start exploding and creating further chaos as the emergency services gets overwhelmed by the never-ending traffic raining down upon them. Eventually, though, all the charred cars and corpses blink out of existence and traffic starts flowing again, until the next round of NPCs start driving up the overpass.

I like how the default "panic" reaction for NPCs in GTAV is literally "floor it and hope everything turns out okay"
I think it's a commentary on how people in the city just try to flee problems without thinking and hope for the best.

I think it’s random number generator for which turn to make next after each turn is made and when you push them off their route a new random number comes out for them cause it would take too much memory for them to stay on a specific path
@@infrareddiamonds much like how the random number generator in my brain sometimes tells me to drive the wrong way on a one way street
cars have different ammount of healt points. and if they land on the roof they take extra damage. so depending on center of mass and hp the jeeps didnt flip over like the smaller cars and therefore made it out alive.
This is where the upper branch goes, so they go where they wanted to go originally
I came here to make this comment. Some cars explode while others just drive away? GTA still has some ways to go before reaching rdr2 level of realism.

that fact that when some of the cars at the start crash, they just keep driving as if a car didn't explode next to them.
I recently just fell asleep to an hour long of this and woke up 2 hours later and now these are on my recommended.

This reminds me of when a plane crashed on the street behind Michael's house and blocked the road. The NPCs were so stupid, they kept trying to physically drive through the plane until one of the cars got so damaged it exploded and took about thirty other cars with it.
I thought I was the only one that happened to.
I can just picture what that looked like 🤣
Or when cops think the best way to stop a tank is by ramming it. After a few dozen exploded cop cars, the tank takes enough collateral damage to die.

I love how the cars in GTA are made of explodium, it makes it so much fun to set up large chain reactions, kinda like this.

Brah... The badlands highway stay having that slow tractor switching lanes, like he going the same speed.
@Wiking8945 especially Seattle drivers, if an arrow pointed to a cliff they would drive off it without hesitation
San Andreas highways are no joke, you turn the camera around for 3 seconds and suddenly there’s a 15+ car pileup and cars are exploding for no reason
I make sure to personally hunt down anybody that gets in front of me. Shit be annoying lol especially when you know they’re coded to do exactly that

My favorite are the GTA4 NPCs who turn from the far side of the rode. Turning right? Lemme pull my car as far to the left as possible.

There's also another gap on the highway near the helipad near vespucci beach, that one is even funnier since there is a little ramp, so the npcs get more airtime.
No matter how civilized I think I am, I will always have that little part of me that likes to see some random chaos.
Those weren't intelligent npcs anyways. They drove of an edge and somehow expected to survive the fall with their car intact and continue on their merry way

In GTA 4 I did something similar by parking the driver's side door on a bridge with a broken guard rail. Got 1 star and watched all the cops try to go to the door to arrest me but falls off the bridge for a few minutes

This is perfect if you bought the scrap yard in singleplayer. Every destroyed car goes towards the scrap yard and money to you. Unless it was stated every vehicle you destroy, I don't recall.
Luckily, since he's not getting stars, he's probably not counted as destroying them.

The cars exploding caused a chain reaction. Some were too far away to explode right away and just caught on fire instead
