Once he put the horn in his mouth, he kept it there throughout the whole song. That takes a a lot of endurance. Joshua Redman impresses every which way possible. A true GIANT of his craft!
I went to Berklee and I was there when Kendrick showed up. His playing blew me away then and continues to do so now. He was so cool and kind and sharing...and a monster at the same time. Rare individual.
There's so much intelligence, passion, soul and groove in this music! Brother Joshua's humility, personality surface in his thoughtful music. I love this!
So true! I watched him in an amazing concert in a huge hall. There was a small jam in a hotel afterwards and Joshua Redman (plus drummer, Gregory Hutchinson) played joined the local musicians there and played their hearts out. Incredible people and musicians!
How Joshua has improved within the last decade is so much fun. This is the essence of jazz, learning, trying and then performing and on and on and on! I love his play a little bit more then master Breckers, it's quite not so hard but more lyric. He tells us stories of the blues coulored people have to suffer from till today! Amazing!
I have the same feeling - Breckers are(were) masters but too hard for my taste so the Redman lyricism makes him just as much genius but more listenable.
Coming to this right after viewing Sonny Rollins { also in trio, 1965] brings up the factor of humanism in music and its degree of presence determining whether music has 'a reason to exist'. Historically, Louis Armstrong epitomized 'the human' in his expression. Likewise Earl Hines. Rollins also, but he was deeply inflected by Charlie Parker, who brought in anxiety about the human, as reflected in his own unsureness about the value of his own existence. Mr Redman here springs from Mr Rollins, but without the grounded celebration of even Rollins, not to mention Armstrong, whose [beloved] love of people seems absolute. This is not to say that these prominent figures aren't all doing something really good. They all are. It's to note a certain amount of loss over time of the expression of the greatness of being human, which is what music must carry to be fulfilled in itself.

Hi dear friend, it's a Yamaha hybrid maple absolute 18/12/14 (Bop size) or maybe a 20 bass drum but often Kendrick play almost only on 18 bass drum for the toms sure it's 12 and 14, and the snare is not Yamaha , it's a bronze snare which I don't know the name of the brand, maybe dunnett, Ludwig or craviotto (not sure if craviotto makes bronze snare). But sometimes Kendrick plays on Yamaha hybrid maple absolute snare too with PHX gold lugs lol it's super hard to find those lugs. He also play on craviotto walnut-maple-walnut snare, and dunnett titanium 14x6,4 snare. And for the cymbals he play a 15 k prototype kerope hi hats with 12 rivets, a 21 k Constantinople bounce prototype ride and a 22 k Constantinople bounce ride with Z rivets.

Gale metal pieces look much like Otto Link STMs, but they are very rare pieces, he has been using a Gale recently, but I am unsure about the piece he is using here. I am sure that he is playing great though.

Kendrick Scott is one of the greats of modern drumming! Wow!

Amazing!
The OVERTONES on Sax and Bass and particularly on cymbals are magnificent! Song could be called Overtone Bath. Or Cymbal Shower.
😂😂😂 totally agree
Another level
Yo this a good ass trio
Yessss beautiful
You know a soloist is truly kicking ass when you don’t miss the lack of a chordal instrument.
I wish he would be my saxophone teacher.
But he is for each sax-player!
Amazing.
오져.....
Massa!
Cool cool cool cool

Redman is playing great here, is that his metal Gale mouthpiece he is using?
That looks like an Otto Link
