As a father of a beautiful 3 year old daughter, I have watched Moana, many times... many many times. This song always struck me though, and although it is in a launguage totaly alien to me, I couldn't help but feel the sorrow. Having found this video (and others of it being sung live) I now understand the meaning and reason, I now share your sorrow. Each time I again, watch Moana with my daughter, I shall hold her a just a little closer. There are great oceans between us, but distance is meaningless if you hold love in your heart. Its Beautiful song and loving tribute.
Same exact situation here, it jus grabbed me in a way I couldn’t explain or ignore I ended up researching it and I cried learning and reading the story about what happened , may their souls Rest In Peace and may their families be able to find comfort and peace forever and ever , godbless.
Bula vinaka from Fiti (Fiji). My father once told me the story of the Tuvalu tragedy when i was 7. I remember him telling me with tears in his eyes how the young girls didn't make it that night and he told me how everybody in the Pacific pains when a country or a tragedy occurs because we're all interconnected as Pasifika. Now i am 19 and studying at University discovering this song brought back memories of the tragedy of my Pasifika (Pacific) neighbors of Tuvalu. I cried more like my father because he felt the pain as if those 19 young girls were his own. We are connected Moana-wide (Oceania-wide)..Vinaka
Talofa lava from samoa🇼🇸 this story has been heard in samoa about how 19 girls from tuvalu were killed in a fire, we were shocked as a pacific islander it's painful because it feels like one of my family members had jst passed away**🌴 o o'u loi mata e maligi o lo'u loto ua fa'anoanoa tau galo atu na'i o'u tei pele, e faigata ona fa'malamalama wow😢😰💯as a fluent samoan speaker, i could almost understand the words RIP sorry for your loss little one's kalofae😢 tuvalu!!...💙💞💖SAMOA LOVE'S TUVALU***
Before I even known the story behind the beautiful song, I cried all throughout the whole song, then when I discovered the history behind the song, it made me tear up even more, that heart wrenching feeling 🥺 No matter how many times I've listen this song , Tears still roll down my cheeks ❤️
Learned the lyrics in my teens. I am from Greenland in the arctic and my brother had a cd were this specific song was on. Still remember the words. First now I learn the great meaning of the lyrics. So powerful!
Wow, this was heartbreaking! I wasn't there, but the tone of this song seriously captures what happened as it happened. And when you watch the film, it's that same voice giving Moana a prophetic calling. Those nineteen young women will forever be immortalised by that film, as it's their song and the lady who sung it that began the whole mission.
It’s crazy how this song came to me in a dream, today when I woke up it was the first song I listened to. It was 5 in the morning and I just needed to listen to this song and cry to it. Then I read about the girls and it just brought me down to more tears may their souls rest in paradise. 😔💖
I've just been made known of this beautiful songs tragedy..😔 but I'm assured, they're in a better place To all the living, God bless u all with Hes grace and overwhelming love From fiji...to Tuvalu 🇹🇻 and elsewhere, vinaka
I remember when I was in college when my teacher tell us the story about Tuvaluan girls who lost their lives when a fire broke down in their boarding school..its so sad to hear... Now I'm 20 I always remember those days when I heard this song.. Rest in peace Angels.. From your neighbour Kiribati
I try to always research things, so I researched the history of this beautiful song from Moana. The history is that its about 19 girls desth in a boarding school. What happend was a girl was studying at night and there was a candle at a mosquito net. The candle tipped over. The windows and the doors were boarded to seperate the boys from the girls, so they sadly couldn’t leave. It’s very tragic, so may they rest in oeace 👼🏻🕊
I remember going to the live show in Auckland and we got to meet 2 survivors and omg their cries when they heard the girls reenact the screaming and crying they said it was like it just happened the day before… Rest in Love to the 19 girls and their Teacher ❤️ This song will always remind us of the tragedy and we will never forget it..
I always loved this song, it was so beautiful when I first heard it. Now learning the history behind the song, it just broke my heart. I feel your pain, and I pray those 19 girls may rest in peace, and I pray for their families and friends too.
🌺🌴🌊🐚🍍🌋🌸🐠🐬🐙🐳🐟🐋 being in California and not understanding the words to this, I could tell it had a chunk in my throat, special meaning that I couldn't understand. I am so proud and greatful that someone finally translated this lovely melody. my heart is in my mouth as it has more meaning than before to me. how devastating to hear the real true meaning behind the song. May the Lord bless all of those families and friends of the ones lost during the fire. watching this because of the Moana song. it's the same song but very different feel. this feels so sad... what a beautiful song for the memory of a tragic event.
I love this song too much i am 35 and still one of a fan of kids movies i really appreciate the story and the theme songs, so touchy and heart ❤❤❤❤❤😍😍😍😍
It is really heart broken to hear about the girl in tuvalu they are now in a good place rest in peace😔 honestly around the end when it showed the kids at school it hit my heart and i literally cried the song was so beautiful & sad, dedicated for the girls who died in the fire in tuvalu boarding school😭😭😭😭😄😄
Fakalofa laa a Tamaliki konei ne mate😭😭😭 alofa atu loa kia koutou...... *translation* what a pity and sad story about these 18 girls who died in Motufoua secoundry school (mss) i would like to thanx the Te vaka group for the song and The for the leader of Te vaka u have shown ur part Tuvaluan..........
This is what makes me cry the most. And sorry to rant under a three years old comment. But the saddest line there is that they lost the future of a nation. And they really were. Future wife's, mothers, teachers, doctors... Who knows what they could have done for their community. We live in big cities now, most of us. Nineteen lives, it's a tragedy, but it doesn't affect our future whatsoever. We feel sorry for the families and then we move on. But they have lost so much more...
Ive heard this song from yrs ago &fell inlove with it🥰but today I've just found out the tragic lost behind this song😥😥💔💔💔R.I.L R.I.P to the 19young ladies taken away on that tragic night..Condolences to all their families🥺🥺🥺All our Island hearts beats as ONE💖💙💖💙💖💙💖🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Critico Tingka Critico Tingka 👍🏽 I should have translated it. The first sentence is: I send my love to the kids who died in the fire. Ofa atu is a difficult sentence to translate because while it does pertain to sending out love, it goes beyond that. Than, the last sentence is: Love from Tonga.
I know it is a very very tragedy painful story behind it but this track is my all favorite. I love it so much and it always restore my inner power again
When I listen to this song, it is as if Mother Gaia were speaking to us, asking us to give her our sadness and our burdens to transmute them and thus heal the Female Lineage and with it the cosmic Womb that we all share as a UNITY and part of the ALL that we are.
But Opetaia Foa'i rewrote lyrics to this piece for Moana, called "An innocent warrior", since it held a heavy place in all of the members of Te Vaka's heart.
Honda Class A fire burnt down the entire school. How the fire started? A student lighted a candle to read but the candle fell and burned down the entire girls dorm while the doors & windows were shut

Just attended a funeral for my friend's son. His mom is micronesian (I believe they're polynesians). This song is so appropriate right now
There are 3 distinct groups that make up the South Pacific islands. 1. Melanesians 2. Polynesians and 3. the micronesians
@@rugbymaniacs2534 why u say the Micronesian like that 🤧
