    ↣ Are you a full time UA-camr?
I work full time online as a 'Digital Nomad' which means I get to travel the world with my fiance (Ed) and not be tied to living in any specific country. I teach courses on Udemy (check out my profile here - www.udemy.com/u/louisecroft/), and run several companies, plus of course blogging and UA-cam.
↣ When did you start blogging?
I created my blog in 2012 when I was living in America. I was thrifting so much that I wanted to start sharing my outfits online and inspiring other people to look in charity shops. Now it's become all about my Digital Nomad journey and what it's like to be a female nomad.

    ↣ Where's your accent from?
I'm from the South of England but I currently live out of a suitcase travelling all over the world.
↣ Where is your favourite place in the world?
I fell deeply in love with Gili Air when we visited as a paradise getaway, but Chiang Mai is my favourite place to live. Plus of course, there's no place like home (Dorset in England).

Dropping amazing tips as usual Louise! That is so true about saying yes sometimes you can learn on the job that happened to me. I think it's also good to have an online presence as a freelancer so that clients will want to come to you like having your own podcast or youtube channel.

I would never, ever recommend Upwork. Clients on there have very unrealistic expectations. They want involved, professional projects done for $50. You'll just end up working round the clock for peanuts.

Yes I have heard mixed reviews. Lots of my friends love it as freelancers - but I know sometimes the prices can be super low. Probably a good way to get started though if you feel like you have no network.

I used to freelance via Elance. I liked Elance. Then it combined with Odesk and became Upwork. Everything changed. All the tests results I'd got vanished and Upwork wanted a larger cut of my earnings. If I remember correctly, at that time, they even wanted to charge me for taking my earnings out. I never had that problem with Elance.
I told my clients I would not work for them via Upwork, but offered to work for them direct. They accepted this and I closed my Upwork account. If they had not accepted my decision. I would have stopped providing content for them and closed my Upwork account anyway. I truly hate that company and will always miss Elance.

Eve Williams I agree! Though I’m not going to deny that it’s hard to find clients outside Upwork.

Wow thanks so much!! Sure you'll be a massive success. Yeah mindset is such a big factor - and just putting your name out there as much as possible! Having a youtube channel should help because you've got an editing portfolio now! 🎉

Great tips and advice, when I began freelancing in architectural design i did some free work, later that client referred me to a few others that made me $$$ :) You don't want to make a habit of working for free but when starting out the confidence and possible referrals you can gain from a free job can be more valuable than a one time payout. Always do a good job and your clients will market for you. Thanks for sharing!

Well apparently there is a massive shortage of developers in the recruitment market right now. Of course there's no guarantee because it depends on your quality and customer service and reliability etc - but it's a good niche to choose
