Thanks for the Canadian review. Other reviews never seem to push the limits for cold climate testing. Well done

On Dec 22, a F150 Lightning owner from SK posted: "I live in Saskatchewan Canada, just got our Lightning with ER pack two weeks ago, and it is cold right now here so I am likely putting it through the worst it has ever seen - minus 45 with the windchill yesterday. A pure -35 without wind the day before. In that temperature, I drove under 30 km (19 miles) and the truck went from 428 km range to 249 km. The battery % went down from 96% to 81%. I ended up driving only 76 km (47 miles) yesterday and the range was down to 140 km to go with the battery at 56%. This is a trip to town and back with a few errands for us. It looks like maybe we could sneak in two trips - around 150km (93 miles) in this, but we haven't been brave enough to try it as we don't want to run out of electricity in minus 45!"
The owner's experience confirms 50% range loss in very cold temperatures

I used to help out a band yrs ago when I was living in Calgary. We would head into Saskatchewan in the winter to gigs. I thought I knew what cold was growing up in the Soo. I had no idea. At minus 45 you should just stay home. 🥶 I could live with half the range where I live in Eastern Ontario. I never travel more than about 150 kms in a day. I hate that I have to drive 20kms to get to a gas station from my house out in the country. I just don't have a $100K for a pickup truck. Hoping for a midsize at prices we mortals can afford.

Saskatchewan gets very cold and the truck should be able to handle it. The charging infrastructure is so poor in the highways and these vehicles would be impractical

I was hoping to see a review of ranges with -35c or colder temps not -12c. I drive a bolt and in -35c ot colder i get about 220km to a charge. I was hoping to see if any ford lightnings can get the same km range.

One year later, there’s lariat f-150 lightings with less than 10k miles for around $44k, approximately $13,000 less than a comparable combustion lariat….

I have one of them trucks "GM branded myself" by the way....n there's no way them trucks will ever work like an ICE truck in the cold....it's not even conversation.....but I must say the smoothness of that electric drive system is out of this world....I can't stand driving an ICE truck anymore....with regards to the drive train .....it's seamless n perfectly smooth......can't wait for a Silverado EV..

Just called a dealer in Canada for fun. $100K to start for an XLT trim. Taxes and interest at 7.5%. You’re looking roughly at $135K, all in. A lovely $1900/month payment to boot. This purchase is essentially for the functionally retarded or at the very least for financially illiterate people. My 2018 F150 was $50K all in. I pay roughy $3500 a year for the magic liquid called gasoline. Since I have $85K to spare I will be driving for free for the next 25 years. 15-20 if you add maintenance. 40 -50 if I invest the difference. Best of all, people won’t be laughing at me as I drive by.

Most of these tests I see with EV trucks are complete b.s I have yet to see someone driving it full of work tools or hauling a trailer these tests mean nothing most people use pickup trucks for work

I'm an ev fan. And the trailer hauls are abysmal like 50 mile range. I think many trucks are just plump sedans with the ability to haul a table to the dump.

There’s work trucks and then there are family trucks …… like everyone who owns a Sports car, no one ever takes it to the track. These EV trucks crush anything with an ICE engine just accept it.

For a 150 thousand dollar electric toy, I would demand more than 280 km range or less in a cold Canadian winter. Nice truck but totally impractical, unless you live somewhere where it never gets cold. Zero value for dollar.
